考研英语(二)历年翻译真题2007年真题Powering the great ongoing changes of our time is the rise of human creativity as the defining feature of economic life. Creativity has come to be valued, because new technologies, new industries and new wealth flow from it. And as a result, our lives and society have begun to echo with creative ideas. It is our commitment to creativity in its varied dimensions that forms the underlying spirit of our age.Creativity is essential to the way we live and work today, and in many senses always has been. The big advances in standard of living—not to mention the big competitive advantages in the marketplace—always have come from “better recipes, not just more cooking.” One might argue that‟s not strictly true. One might point out, for instance, that during the long period from the early days on the Industrial Revolution to modern times, much of the growth in productivity and material wealth in the industrial nations came not just from creative inventions like the steam engine, but from the wide spread application of “cooking in quantity” business methods like massive division of labor, concentration of assets, vertical integration and economies of scale. But those methods themselves were creative developments.2008年真题The term “business model”first came into widespread use with the invention of personal computer and the spreadsheet (空白表格程序). Before the spreadsheet, business planning usually meant producing a single forecast. At best, you did a little sensitivity analysis around the projection. The spreadsheet ushered in a much more analytic approach to planning because every major line item could be pulled apart, its components and subcomponents analyzed and tested. You could ask what if questions about the critical assumptions on which your business depended-for example, what if customers are more price-sensitive than we thought? -and with a few keystrokes, you could see how any change would play out on every aspect of the whole. In other words, you could model the behavior of a business. Before the computer changed the nature of business planning, most successful business models were created more by accident than by elaborate design. By enabling companies to tie their marketplace insights much more tightly to the resulting economics, spread sheet made it possible to model business before they were launched.2009年真题With the nation‟s financial system teetering on a cliff, the compensation arrangements for executives of the big banks and other financial firms are coming under close examination again.Bankers‟ excessive risk-taking is a significant cause of this financial crisis and has contributed to others in the past. In this case, it was fueled by low interest rates and kept going by a false sense of security created by a debt-fueled bubble in the economy.Mortgage lenders gladly lent enormous sums to those who could not afford to pay them back, dividing the loans and selling them off to the next financial institution along the chain, which took advantage of the same high-tech securitization to load on more risky mortgage-based assets.Financial regulation will have to catch up with the most irresponsible practices that led banks down in this road, in hopes of averting the next crisis, which is likely to involve different financial techniques and different sorts of assets. But it is worth examining the root problem of compensation schemes that are tied to short-term profits and revenues, and thus encourage bankers to take irresponsible level of risk.2010年真题Sustainability has become a popular word these days, but to Ted Ning, the concept will always have personal meaning. Having endured a painful period of unsustainability in his own life made it clear to him that sustainability-oriented values must be expressed through everyday action and choice.Ning recalls spending a confusing year in the late 1990s selling insurance. He‟d been through the dot-com boom and bust and, desperate for a job, signed on with a Boulder agency. It didn‟t go well. “It was a really bad move because that‟s not my passion,” says Ning, whose dilemma about the job translated, predictably, into a lack of sales. “I was miserable. I had so much anxiety that I would wake up in the middle of the night and stare at the ceiling. I had no money and needed the job. Everyone said, …Just wait, you‟ll turn the corner, give it some time‟.”2011年真题Who would have thought that, globally, the IT industry produces about the same volume of greenhouse gases as the world‟s airlines do --- roughly 2 percent of all CO2 emissions? Many everyday tasks take a surprising toll on the environment. A Google search can leak between 0.2 and 7.0 grams of CO2, depending on how many attempts are needed to get the “right” answer. To deliver results to its users quickly, then, Google has to maintain vast data centers around the world, packed with powerful computers. While producing large quantities of CO2, these computers emit a great deal of heat, so the centers need to be well air-conditioned, which uses even more energy. However, Google and other big tech providers monitor their efficiency closely and make improvements. Monitoring is the first step on the road to reduction, but there is much more to be done, and not just by big companies.

Caring More for the Future Than the PastWhen my parents and grandparents were kids, the world was a very different place. There was no internet, no smartphones, and definitely no YouTube or video games! Can you even imagine? My grandma has told me stories about having to walk several miles to school every day, no matter the weather. And my grandpa talks about how he had to do lots of chores on the family farm before and after school. Their lives sound so hard compared to how kids live today. But as different as their childhoods were, I've realized that kids today have our own unique challenges too. We have to grow up dealing with issues that past generations didn't face nearly as much, like climate change, plastic pollution, and coming technology advances that will transform how we live and work. Sometimes I wonder if today's adults really understand what kinds of problems we'll be facing when we're older. That's why I think it's so important for kids today to care more about preparing for the future than just going along with how things used to be done. The world is changing so fast, and we can't just repeat the past. We have to look ahead and getready for what's coming, even if that means changing things that seem normal to our parents and grandparents. Here are some of the key areas where I believe we need to focus on the future more than the past:EnvironmentProbably the biggest challenge for my generation is going to be protecting the environment and fighting climate change. We've all learned how the last few centuries of burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests, and polluting the oceans has massively damaged the planet. If we don't make big changes soon, there could be catastrophic consequences like rising sea levels, worsening storms, animal extinctions, and more. The adults today didn't cause all this intentionally - my grandparents and even parents just lived the way everyone did back then without realizing the harm. But now that we know better, it's our responsibility to do better. We can't just recycle plastic bottles but otherwise go on living disposably and wastefully like past generations did. We have to radically reduce our environmental impact through developing renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing, electric vehicles, and moreeco-friendly lifestyles. Some adults seem skeptical of how urgent and major the changes need to be. But us kids can see that going back to driving gas guzzlers or ignoring climate change, just because it's how the old generations did things, isn't an option for our future. We have to embrace new technologies and behaviors, even if it disrupts traditions from the past. This crisis is that serious. The previous way of doing things caused this mess - only by pivoting towards sustainability can we preserve a livable planet for the generations ahead.TechnologyAs much as climate change, the other huge force shaping our future is technology - everything from artificial intelligence to robotics, genetic engineering, cybersecurity and more. These advances could bring amazing benefits like curing diseases, exploring space, automating manual labor, and so much else that sounds like science fiction today. But new technologies also bring risks like increased cybercrime, automation leaving many unemployed, and powerful AI systems that could be misused.Of course, previous generations like my grandparents adapted to new technologies too when they were young, like televisions, computers, and the internet. But the changes coming with AI, bioengineering, quantum computing, and othercutting-edge fields are going to be so much more transformative and rapid. We have to prepare for a world of change that will make the last century's technological progress seem glacial.Too often I hear adults wanting to pump the brakes on technological progress because they're uncomfortable with the upheaval and threats it could bring. They want to just keep doing things the old way that's familiar. But for my generation, resisting new technologies and sticking to the past isn't an option - that's just burying our heads in the sand. By the time I'm an adult, these world-changing technologies are going to be ubiquitous whether we like it or not.The only path is to fully embrace them, while also being proactive about addressing the risks and governing these powerful capabilities responsibly. We can't fall behind and let other countries set the course. Kids today need to develop advanced technical skills, nurture our creativity andproblem-solving abilities, and have an open mindset to doing things in completely novel ways, not just replicating previous generations' approaches. We have to be the builders of this new reality, not just along for the ride decided by the past.EducationGiven the huge challenges posed by climate change, AI, and other forces reshaping our future, it's clear our education system needs a major overhaul too. We can't just keep studying the same subjects through the same lecture/homework/test methods used for past generations.Sure, we still need core foundations like reading, writing, math, and science. Those basics never go out of style. But in our classes we also need to dive much deeper into technology skills, environmental sustainability concepts, creative thinking, and teaching students to be nimble, curious problem-solvers ready for a churning world. Hands-on projects, lab experiments, coding classes and more immersive Applied Learning needs to augment the passive sitting-and-listening of classrooms designed for industrial-era factories.I know some teachers and parents are hesitant to move too far away from the traditional approach that worked for them growing up. And yes, we shouldn't just discard proven techniques and knowledge that remains valuable. But the reality is the world is changing exponentially fast. The ways of teaching kids for economies and societies of the past won't equip us to navigate our AI-infused, climate-disrupted future. So we needinnovation and a forward-focus in our pedagogy just as much as in technology and sustainability.I'm lucky that my school is pretty progressive in adopting project-based learning, coding classes, environmental science focus, and other modern approaches. But I know many students are still trapped in institutions teaching to decades-old standards and methods just because "that's how we did it before." That's shortchanging this generation and ill-preparing us for the future rushing towards us.Don't get me wrong - I greatly respect the generations before us and all they've accomplished. It's only because of the progress and civilization they built that we can even ponder taking things to this next level. We owe the pioneers and industrialists, the social movement leaders and scientists of the past, a huge debt of gratitude. But precisely because of how far humanity has come thanks to those before us, we can't just keep doing things their way forever. My generation faces challenges of climate catastrophe, technological upheaval, globalization, and more that simply didn't exist when most systems and traditions we inherit were created. So out of respect for the past and optimism for our future, we have to update our approach. It's not about dismissing everything that came beforewilly-nilly. We can and should preserve humankind's positive accomplishments, wisdom, and cultural traditions that remain relevant. But moving forward, the needs and priorities of the future have to take precedence over blindly maintaining the constrictive conventions of previous eras, no matter how "normal" or "comfortable" they seem.No generation has the luxury of resting on its laurels or just coasting along from patterns established by the ones before it. We all have to be progressives and innovators in our own time, creating new solutions and methods to deal with the unique challenges and circumstances we face. The awesome achievements of the pastactually demand that we go even bigger and bolder in our thinking and ambition for tomorrow. As the youth who will soon inherit responsibility for this world's stewardship, it's our duty to be the champions and vanguards of the future over the inertia of the past.So while my grandparents may sometimes shake their heads at my futurist ways, I know the curving arc of history is on my generation's side. We're the ones who have to live in and shape what's still to come. Out of deep care for the planet and deep care for humanity's potential, we have to prioritize building thatbrighter future over perpetuating inertia from an outworn yesterday. After all, that's the gift - and obligation - every generation owes to the ones yet to be born.。

我们应该做些什么来拯救地球初三的英语作文

我们应该做些什么来拯救地球初三的英语作文

我们应该做些什么来拯救地球初三的英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1What Should We Do to Save the Earth?Hey everyone, have you noticed how crazy the weather has been lately? Scorching hot summers, powerful hurricanes, wildfires raging across the west. It's kind of scary, isn't it? I think most of us have figured out by now that this is happening because of climate change caused by human activities like burning fossil fuels. The Earth is getting warmer and the climate is shifting in really concerning ways.At first, I'll admit, I didn't think too much about it. It just seemed like a problem for scientists and world leaders to deal with. But then I started learning more about the potential impacts - rising sea levels that could flood coastal cities, droughts that disrupt food supplies, mass extinctions of plants and animals. This is the world we're going to inherit as the next generation. That's when it hit me - we need to take action now to save the planet we call home. But what can we as middle schoolers really do? It's such a huge, complex issue. Well, I've been doing some research, and I think there are actually quite a few things we can do in our daily lives to make a difference. Small steps that add up if we all pitch in. Here are some ideas:Reduce, reuse, recycle. This one probably sounds really obvious, but it's so important. Recycling helps reduce emissions from manufacturing new products, cuts down on waste in landfills, and conserves natural resources. We need to get better about putting bottles, cans, paper and cardboard in the recycling instead of just tossing them in the trash. It's not that hard once you get in the habit! Reducing waste in the first place is even better - try using reusable water bottles, shopping bags, and food containers instead of disposable ones.Save energy at home. Turning off lights in rooms you aren't using, unplugging electronics when not in use, setting the thermostat a few degrees higher in summer and lower in winter - these are all really easy ways to cut down on energy consumption from fossil fuels. Taking shorter showers saves water and the energy used to heat that water. We should bug our parents to do things like install LED lightbulbs, add insulationto the attic, and get an energy efficient furnace or air conditioner when it's time to replace old ones.Walk, bike, take public transit. Whether it's getting to school, heading to a friend's house, or going to the mall with your family, think about skipping the car ride when possible. Cars and trucks generate a ton of greenhouse gas emissions. If we can walk, bike, take the bus or train instead, we can make a big dent in our carbon footprints. It's a great way to get exercise and be kind to the environment.Don't waste food. When we waste food, we also waste all the energy, water, and resources that went into producing, processing, transporting, and cooking it. That's a serious drain on the planet. We've all been guilty of taking too much on our plate and letting leftovers go moldy in the fridge. Let's be more mindful about only taking what we'll actually eat and finding ways to use up older food. Composting food scraps is another great way to cut down on waste ending up in landfills.Support eco-friendly companies. When we buy stuff, whether it's food, clothes, school supplies, or anything else, we should look for products made by companies trying to reduce their environmental impact. Things with minimal plastic packaging, that use recycled materials, or that are locally sourcedto cut down on transportation emissions. We can use our buying power to reward businesses doing the right thing for the Earth.Speak up! One of the most important things we can do is to keep learning about climate change and environmental issues, then share what we've learned with others. Write letters or emails to our political representatives urging them to take stronger action. Join protests and rallies to raise awareness. Use our voices on social media to influence our peers. The more of us who show we care, the bigger impact we can make.I know these suggestions might not seem like huge,Earth-shattering actions. But they're changes we can start making right now in our own lives. If all of us students, along with our families, teachers, and communities, adopt more sustainable habits, it really will make a difference. It's going to take a massive, coordinated effort by everyone on this planet to solve the climate crisis before it's too late. We need to do our part by establishing these green behaviors as the new normal while we're still young. The Earth is our one and only home. It's up to our generation to take better care of it than past generations have. We can't afford to be the selfish, careless ones when we know how dire the consequences could be down the road. The fate of the planetis in our hands now. We need to be the change we want to see in the world. So let's step up and take action, however small it may seem. Recycle diligently, save energy at every turn, choose moreeco-friendly options, cut down on waste and pollution. Advocate for sustainability and put pressure on leaders and businesses to do more. It will take time and effort, but it's the only way to protect the Earth's future - our future. We can make a difference if we all work together. Let's do this, not just for ourselves, but for every human being, plant and animal species who calls this planet home. Our lives and our world depend on it.篇2What Should We Do to Save Our Planet? Our beautiful planet Earth is the only home we have, yet it is in grave danger. Human activities like burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and pollution are causing catastrophic damage to the environment. The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly severe, threatening all life on Earth. As students, we have a crucial role to play in protecting our planet for future generations. In this essay, I will discuss some of the mostpressing environmental issues we face and what we can do to make a positive impact. One of the biggest threats to our planet is global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions from human activities like burning coal, oil, and gas for energy. These emissions trap heat in the atmosphere, causing the Earth's temperature to rise at an alarming rate. This warming is leading to more extreme weather events like hurricanes, droughts, and heatwaves. It is also causing sea levels to rise, putting coastal cities at risk of flooding. The melting of glaciers and polar ice caps is another major consequence, which could disrupt ocean currents and weather patterns worldwide. To tackle this issue, we must transition away from fossil fuels towards clean, renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. Governments and businesses need to invest heavily in developing and deploying these technologies on a massive scale. As individuals, we can do our part by conserving energy at home and school, walking or biking instead of driving when possible, and supporting companies and politicians who prioritize sustainability.Another critical issue is deforestation, which is destroying the planet's forests at an unsustainable rate. Trees are vital forabsorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, as well as providing habitats for countless species of plants and animals. The destruction of rainforests, in particular, is a major contributor to climate change and biodiversity loss. Indigenous communities who have lived in harmony with these forests for generations are also being displaced and having their way of life destroyed. To combat deforestation, we need stronger laws and enforcement to prevent illegal logging and clearing of forests for agriculture, mining, and development. At the same time, we should support sustainable forestry practices and protect the land rights of indigenous peoples. We can also make conscious choices as consumers to buy products made from recycled materials or certified as sustainable and rainforest-friendly.Plastic pollution is another enormous problem that is suffocating our oceans and waterways, harming marine life, and even entering our food chain. Every year, millions of tons of plastic waste end up in the environment, taking hundreds of years to break down. This plastic debris injures and kills fish, seabirds, and other marine animals who mistake it for food or become entangled in it.Reducing our reliance on single-use plastics is key to addressing this issue. Governments should ban or tax certaintypes of plastic products and incentivize the development of more sustainable alternatives. Businesses need to rethink their packaging and move away from plastics entirely. As consumers, we can carry reusable bags, bottles, and containers, and properly recycle any plastics we do use. Participating in beach and community clean-ups can also make a real difference.Water scarcity is another looming crisis that threatens the lives and livelihoods of billions worldwide. With population growth, urbanization, and climate change disrupting weather patterns, many regions are experiencing severe droughts and diminishing freshwater supplies. Poor water management and wasteful practices are exacerbating the problem.Conserving water needs to become a way of life for all of us. We should take shorter showers, fix leaks promptly, water lawns and gardens efficiently, and choose water-saving appliances. Agriculture and industry must also adopt water recycling and more efficient irrigation methods. Governments can invest in water treatment, storage, and desalination technologies to increase supply. Cooperation between nations on managing shared water resources will also be vital.篇3What Should We Do to Save the Earth? As a student, I often think about the future of our planet and what it will be like when I'm an adult. Will we still have lush forests, clean air to breathe, and drinkable water? Or will we be living in a world ravaged by pollution, climate change, and environmental destruction? The fate of the Earth rests heavily on the actions we take today. We've all heard about issues like global warming, deforestation, plastic pollution, and endangered species. But do we really understand the urgency and scale of these problems? The facts are staggering - the Earth's temperature has risen over 1°C in just the last few decades due to greenhouse gas emissions. The Amazon rainforest, one of the planet's most important carbon sinks, is being cleared at an alarming rate. Millions of tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans each year, killing marine life. Over 1 million plant and animal species face extinction, many within just a few decades. These are scary statistics, but they show why we desperately need to take action to protect our environment. As young people, we have a huge role to play. The choices we make today will shape the world we inherit as adults. While governments and corporations must lead the way, we can't just sit back and waitfor them to act. We need to use our voices, our activism, and our daily choices to drive positive change. So what exactly can we do? Here are some key steps I believe we should take:Reduce Our Consumption and WasteIn our modern, convenience-driven society, we produce an incredible amount of waste from single-use plastics, fast fashion, food waste, and more. Reducing our consumption of these disposable items is one of the most impactful things we can do as individuals. Carry reusable bags, water bottles, and containers. Buy minimally packaged goods. Recycle everything possible. Donate clothes instead of throwing them out. Compost food scraps. Small changes in our daily lives can make a huge difference.Eat More Plant-Based FoodsYou've probably heard that eating less meat is better for the environment, but do you know why? Animal agriculture is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, water pollution, deforestation, and habitat loss. Producing plant-based foods is much more environmentally sustainable. We don't have to all go vegan, but substituting even a few meat-based meals per weekwith plant-based alternatives can create massive positive impacts when multiplied across billions of people.Use Sustainable TransportationThe vehicles we use to get around spew harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Whenever possible, we should walk, bike, take public transit, or carpool instead of driving solo. For longer trips, we can look into options like trains over planes. And when it's time to get a vehicle, we should consider hybrid or electric models. Making transportation choices with the environment in mind makes a big difference.Conserve Energy and WaterFrom the electricity powering our devices and lighting our homes, to the water flowing through our showers and sprinklers, our daily energy and water usage has an environmental impact. We can do simple things like turning off lights when leaving a room, taking shorter showers, fixing leaks, and using energy efficient LED bulbs. At home, we can bug our parents to seal up drafts, use a programmable thermostat, and switch to renewable energy providers. Using only what we need is an easy way to reduce our carbon footprint.Be Conscious ConsumersThe products we buy have environmental impacts from the sourcing of raw materials to manufacturing to shipping. Whenever possible, we should buy from companies that use sustainable, ethical practices and create eco-friendly products with minimal packaging. We can research brands and choose reusable, recycled, and responsibly made items over disposable goods. As consumers, we have power to drive the market towards better environmental practices.Connect with and Appreciate NatureIt's easy to become disconnected from the natural world, surrounded by cityscapes, technology, and human-made comforts. But nurturing our relationship with nature is so important for valuing and protecting it. Go for hikes. Have picnics at parks. Plant a garden. Learn about local plants and animals. Develop a deep appreciation for the incredible biodiversity on our planet that's worth fighting for.Educate and ActivateOne of the most powerful things we can do is use our voices to learn, educate others, and drive change through activism. We're the generation that has the most to lose from environmental destruction. We need to stay informed on the issues, share facts and calls to action through social media, writeto elected leaders, protest policies that harm the environment, and put pressure on companies to be better environmental stewards. Our collective voices have the power to create massive positive impact. These are just some of the key things we can do as students and young people to save the planet. Of course, the scope of environmental issues is vast, and we can't solve everything alone. But we all have a role to play through our daily choices and actions. As the generation who will inherit the consequences of environmental destruction, we need to be at the forefront of driving change for a sustainable future. The path won't be easy - we'll face resistance from those committed to environmentally harmful practices. Changing behaviors and systems is hard. But we have to keep fighting, for the survival of the planet and all the amazing life and biodiversity it supports, including the human race. We can't afford to be bystanders and let corporations, governments, and previous generations rob us of a safe, healthy world to live in.The Earth is our one and only home. It has given us everything - the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the beauty we enjoy. Now it needs us to step up and be its fierce protectors. By making sustainable choices in our daily lives, educating and activating others, and boldly demanding change from those in power, we can absolutely turn this environmental crisis around. The fate of the Earth rests on the actions we take today. I hope you'll join me in making the choice to fiercely protect our planet.。

Methods to deal with the energy crisis Methods to deal with the energy crisis:
The first, actively following the law of development to build up a structurewhich could be the efficient production system. This isthe preferred option for China's energy. We should not import desperately while wastewantonly, this is not sustainable. In economics, our demand expansion has not done enough to face the rise of oil prices but there are a lot of reasons, such as the increasing infrastructure investment which is the country relied on andthe rapid economic growth which pushed up oil demand and so on. It is obviously important to strengthen the top-level design of consumption and overall planning.
The second, tomake use of energyrationally and actively guide the consumption. There are many status to affect the energy security or restricts thedevelopment of China's energyindustry. For example, the per capita energy resourcein China is low butthe total energyresourcesconsumptionis high.Fossil energy especially the large-scale coal exploitation has do harm to the ecological environment. These issues are decided by the international energy competition, productivity of different countries, and these issues are also relevant to the unreasonable industrial structure or energy structure, rough energy development and utilization and fall-behind systems and mechanisms. To solve these problems, we need to vigorously promote energy production and utilization and constantly improve the policy. Especially the rational oil consumption should be long-term target in China and we need to take various measures to save energy. In economic perspective, both recyclable resources and non-recyclable resourcesare scarce.Circular economyis a kind of economic development model which could save resources and achieve the goal of rational allocation of resources. In addition, we should pay full attention to effect of the price regulation to what is required. We should also advocate for the comfortable living and consumption patterns which is suitableto our country and culture.
The third, we should firmly advocate the reform in the energy sector and quicklybuild up the institutions and mechanisms which is conducive to energy development. We should also improve the energy developmentand promote energy production toensure the security of national energy. The first is to accelerate building up energy legal system. Currently, we are devoted tolearn to revisethe law ofthe oildevelopment, the gas pipeline protection and the nuclear power management and so on. Such as “coal law" and "Electricity Law" is running.
The second is to improve the market mechanism. We should promote energy market reform actively and give full play to the basic role of market allocation. All the projects listed in the national energy program, unless forbidden by laws or regulations, are open to private capital. We also should encourage the private capital to participate in the exploration and development of energy resources and oil resources.
The fourth is the rational layout. Some measures might be taken earlier,we must solve the problem of the petroleum transport, include blocking problem in Iran and
the Strait of Hormuz mentioned. All of these factors should be considered. We should also adhere to the diversification of energy imports.
The sixth: The diversification of energy supplyingis very important. Our fossil energy is exhaustible and in order to uselonger, we should make full use of the water energy, oil, shale gas and other kinds of energy. In the aspect of energy cooperation, we should establish mutually beneficial relationship with other countries. To improve international cooperation mechanism, deeply involved into the global energy governance. Strengthen the communication and cooperation with other countries.
If we do that, I believe that our industry development could reach toa higher level one day.。
