有关狗的寓言故事狗和他自己影子的故事:狗衔肉过桥,看见水里的影子,以为是另一只狗也衔着肉;因而放弃了嘴里的肉,跟影子打架,要抢影子衔的肉,结果把嘴里的肉都丢了。

不过,能自知的人根本不用照镜子,不自知的东西,照了镜子也没有用——譬如这只衔肉的狗,照镜以后,反害他大叫大闹,空把自己的影子,当作攻击狂吠的对象。
农夫持续被风暴困在自己家里,粮草都没有了,又无法出去为自己弄食物,迫于无奈,他吃掉了绵羊。
可是风暴仍继续不停,山羊也被他吃掉了。
后来,风暴丝毫没减弱,他又吃掉了那耕田的牛。
那些狗看见主人的所作所为,互相说道:“我们得赶紧离开这里,主人连帮他一起辛勤耕作的牛都宰了,又怎能放过我们呢?”这故事说明,那些对于家人都要伤害的人,须要特别警惕。
有人养着一只狗和一头驴子,主人常同狗一起嬉戏。
有一天,他外出吃饭,带回一些食物,扔给狗吃。
狗高兴得摇着尾巴迎了上去。
驴子非常羡慕,也蹦蹦跳跳跑了过去,结果踢了主人一脚。
主人十分气愤,痛打了驴子一顿,并把它拴在马槽边。
这故事说明,同样的事情不一定适合于所有的人。
有一次,狼与狗宣战。
一只希腊狗被选为狗,他迟迟没有应战,狼却不断地大肆威胁他们。
希腊狗说道:“知道我为什么犹豫不决吗?战前谋划至关重要。
狼的种类与毛色几乎相同,我们却种类不同,性格不同,加上我们毛色五颜六色,有的黑色,有的红色,还有的是白与灰色。
带领了这些完全不能统一的狗,如何能去应战呢?”这是说,人们必须团结一致、一心一意,方能战胜敌人。
黄狗和花狗夜间为主人守护鸭子。
黄狗警惕性高,平时不乱叫,也不附和其他狗叫。
只有发现了可疑动静后才叫,给主人报讯。
每当黄狗叫了,花狗也跟着叫起来,叫声比黄狗还响。
主人听到狗叫,都要起来巡查一下鸭棚。
花狗看见主人来了,摇着尾巴叫得更响,面容显得更凶猛。
主人以为花狗护鸭责任心强,本领比黄狗大,每次喂食,给花狗另加些好食物。
