2014高考英语阅读理解:2013暑假练习题(2)及答案解析(第A 篇)GUATEMALA CITY(Reuters)—A fish that lives in mangrove swamps(红树沼泽) across the Americas can live out of water for months at a time, similar to how animals adapted (适应)to land millions of years ago, a new study shows. The Mangrove Rivulus, a type of small killifish, lives in small pools of water in a certain type of empty nut or even old beer cans in the mangrove swamps of Belize, the United States and Brazil. When their living place dries up, they live on the land in logs (圆木), said Scott Taylor,a researcher at the Brevard Endangered Lands Program in Florida. The fish ,whose scientific name is Rivulus marmoratus, can grow as large as three inches. They group together in logs and breathe air through their skin until they can find water again. The new scientific discovery came after a trip to Belize.“We kicked over a log and the fish just came crowding out,”Taylor told Reuters in neighboring Guatemala by telephone. He said he will make his study on the fish known to the public in an American magazine early next year.In lab tests, Taylor said he found the fish can live up to 66 days out of water without eating. Some other fish can live out of water for a short period of time. The walking catfish found in Southeast Asia can stay on land for hours at a time, while lungfish found in Austra lia, Africa and South America can live ont of water, but only in an inactive state. But no other known fish can be out of water as long as the Mangrove Rivulus and remain active, according to Patricia Wright, a biologist at Canada’s University of Guelph.Further studies of the fish may tell how animals changed over time.“These animals live in conditions similar to those that existed millions of years ago ,when animals began making the transition (过渡) from water onto land, ”Wright said.[语篇解读]最新发现:有一种鱼,即使离开水也能存活。

In highly developed countries in particular, emphasis has changed from concern over bacterial disease to concern over water-carried viral(病毒性的) disease. Viral hepatitis(肝炎), for example, has been found to occur more frequently in cities whose water supplies have comparatively high levels of water impurity. Poisonous chemicals found in streams that are ultimately used for water supplies also create an important public health problem. It is clear that poisonous chemicals must be excluded from water, but more and more chemicals from new pesticides(杀虫剂), fertilizers, and other new products have been found in water. Since the public health importance of these chemicals is not yet fully known, they are of increasing concern. The chemicals from fertilizers are also finding their way into water supplies from pollution. As man’s desire for water-based recreation increases, greater demands are placed on the quality of the water. The water must not only but be attractive in appearance but also meet certain other conditions. Sports such as swimming involve direct contact with water, and so water standards are raised higher. The range of water quality necessary for industrial processes varies greatly with the intended use of the water. The water used in steel mills, foe example, must have a lower chloride(氧化物)level than that accepted for drinking water. Cooling water can often be of comparatively low sanitary(卫生的)quality. A large part of the water used in thepaper-making industry an be of relatively low quality in some aspects, but must contain little iron and carbon dioxide.67. The chemicals from pesticides and fertilizers found in water are of increasing concern because_________.A. their importance to man’s health has not been completely knownB. they may cause groundwater pollutionC.they can find their way into water supplies for farmersD.they are important factors contributing to the spread of disease68. Gold is one of a growing number of shoppers buying into the organic trend, and supermarkets across Britain are counting on more like him as they grow their organic food business. B.Market research shows that Gold and others who buy organic food can generally give clear reasons for their preferences - but their knowledge of organic food is far from complete. For example, small amounts of pesticides can be used on organic products. And about three quarters of organic food in Britain is not local but imported to meet growing demand."The demand for organic food is increasing by about one third every year, so it is a very fast-growing market, "said Sue Flock, a specialist in this line of business.C.Many cities around the world today are heavily polluted.Careless methods of production and lack of consumer demand for environment-friendly products have contributed to the pollution problem. One result is that millions of tons of glass, paper, plastic, and metal containers are produced, and these are difficult to get rid of.D.However, today, more and more consumers are choosing "green" and demanding that the products they buy should be safe for the environment. Before they buy a product, they ask questions like these: "Will this shampoo damage the environment?" "Can thismetal container be reused or can it only be used once?"E.Only a few years ago, it was impossible to find green products in supermarkets, but now there are hundreds. Some supermarket products carry labels(标签) to show that the product is green. Some companies have made the manufacturing(制造) of clean and safe products their main selling point and emphasize it in their advertising. F.The concern for a safer and cleaner environment is making companies rethink how they do business. No longer will the public accept the old attitude of "Buy it, use it, throw it away, and forget it." The public pressure is on, and gradually business is cleaning up its act.参考答案六选五:61-65: CFBAE********************************************结束第二节:下面文章中有5处(第61~65题)需要添加小标题。

It’s beautiful and orig inal to Chinese culture. And this new album called Heroes of Earth combines Opera and Quen-chu, which are thousand-year-old traditions also unique to Chinese culture. What’s your way of getting immersed in China?D: Have you ever observed festivals in China here?E: What’s your impression of the Chinese people?F: Do you feel like a celebrity in China?61:Aaron Jed B. Rabena:“Do what the Romans do” is the maxim I held on while in China, but in this case it is “Do what the Chinese do” since I wanted on my own voliti on to fully immerse myself with the Chinese. I realized that the difference in going to a country as a tourist or having been able to reside for more than a year as a student is that there are things which you will only be able to appreciate and value as you go along with time. In the former, your mind is quick-set in a sense that you tend to pounce on the fun and recreation. There’s nothing wrong with it but to be able to assimilate the culture, you need longer time to realize why they act they why they do, and the rationale behind those acts.62:Aaron Jed B. Rabena:In studying in China, I did not just learn my major from within the classroom but also from without. I greatly appreciate the fact that China has a very rich and unique culture that is well-sustained and has been valued by its people for thousands of years. I, for one, have been accustomed to the observance of it, from their cultural events, to the cultural traits and to their cuisines. In addition, I have travelled into some of the cities in China and I can’t help but to be fascinated by the magnificence of its cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Wuhan. The historical ancient sites are well-preserved to remind locals and tourists alike of their prestigious heritage.63:Aaron Jed B. Rabena:Shandong province is the place where the eminent Chinese sage Confucius was born. As I am studying in its capital city Jinan, you cannot help but notice the amicability and kindness of the people which only goes to show that the values Confucius espoused thousands of years ago are still widely practiced. I remember that when I was on the train to go to Shanghai to see the ‘Shanghai Expo 2010,’ I was not able to bookmy ticket early which made me displaced inside the train and bear the burden of standing for three hours, but then some Chinese discovering that I am a foreigner seeming helpless and unable to speak their language, found a seat for me when other passengers alighted the train.64:Aaron Jed B. Rabena:In fact, I have been oft-times mistaken as a Chinese when people suddenly ask me for some directions which I just reply by making short statements or admitting that I am not Chinese. I even had the privilege of celebrating the Chinese New Year in the countryside in Hubei province upon the invitation of my Chinese friend. Chinese New Year is their version of the Western Christmas and New Year combined. It is a time where families eat in a banquet together, exchange gifts and well-wishes with each other. There, I was treated like a part of the family. It was also there I learned that when you cheer your glass with an older person, his glass should be higher than yours as a sign of respect. These signs of respect and obedience are values that are very admirable about the Chinese.65:Aaron Jed B. Rabena:From my interactions with the Chinese, I realized that China also has immense diversity when it comes to their dialects where almost every province has its distinct sub-culture to be proud of. The cuisines vary from province to province and each has its own specialty or delicacy to brag about. Those in the North like noodles and dumplings, while those in the South are fond of rice. Also, the Northerners and Southerners are distinguished by their contrasting accents.*********************************************************结束第二节:(选自浙江省台州市2012届上学期高三期末质量评估试题)美国长大的台湾人气歌手Wang Lee Hom在接受CNN Talk Asia栏目专访时,回答了主持人Lorraine Hah 提出的五个问题(第61—65题)。
