商务英语剑桥中级考试阅读精讲英国剑桥委员会组织的BEC(Business English Certificate)是一门综合性极强的考试,不仅全面考察了考生的英语运用能力,而且也加入了实用性的商务内容,因此这个标准化程度很高的考试,体现了学习语言的真正价值,当然,客观地反映出了考生真实的语言功底,和在工作场合的实际运用能力,因而受到了很多国际性大企业的认可,成为选聘人才的要求之一。

这项考试中的阅读题型的多样性可见一般,尤其是高级阶段,在一小时内需要完成6大题型,信息量之大,考生的答题速度也相应提升不少。

首先在备考时,一定要非常熟悉题型,明确自己要做什么,再加上课堂中老师提供的解题要点和技巧,相信能减轻不少压力。

考前的的集中训练也必不可少,俗话说;熟能生巧,在练习中,考生对题型的解答技巧也会变得驾轻就熟。

通常来说第一大部分和第二部分是两道坎,而其他题型阅读量相对少,建议考生由难到易各个击破,心理上也会承受力强些,毕竟像选词填空(part 4),完形填空(part 5)和改错(part 6),用时最少,但是得分点很多,完成这些,对考生在考场的信心增加不少。

然后再来攻克第一部分和第二部分。

对于第一部分,大家不难发现,8个statements,匹配5段文字,建议同学们从读8个选项入手,每个句子中找1-2个key words,速记一下,但要强调一点,务必动动手把这些词圈一下,或下划线,帮助你focus在这些词上,待会可以节省不少来回寻找的时间。

然后在读5段文字,遇到关键的词句,要慢一些,因为之前速记过的内容,趁热打铁,多少会给你一种似曾相识的语句,那么要留心,做记号1,3,6,以此缩小范围。

Bec的考试更注重的整体理解和inference推断能力,更多的是句子的把握,而不是词汇的简单paraphrase. 故光靠词语的匹配是不容易正确解题的。

此外,第二种题型,占得比分不多,就6个空格,但是是最花时间的。

这考察了考生的上下文的逻辑关系的把握,需要考生能正确辨认指代,连接词,从而顺利完成。

(二)解题技巧
这部分对中国考生而言有较高的难度,因为一般来说, 中国人说话写文章时相对英美人而言较缺少严密的 逻辑性。英文,尤其是商务文章极其讲究逻辑的缜 密性,中心思想明确,意群(段)之间有清晰的逻 辑关系,句与句之间紧密相连。知道了这样的思维 差异,在解题时便有了方向:通过各种衔接手段来 解题。词汇的衔接、语法的衔接,最重要的是逻辑 上的衔接。其实,任何两句话之间的逻辑关系不外 乎两种情况:不是顺着意思讲下去(顺接)就是意 思发生了转折(逆接)。判断空格前后句之间的顺 逆接关系,再寻找正确的选项,解题就容易多了。
(5)检查答案:如果时间允许, 可在答题结束后再根据全文检 查一遍答案。
(四)重要语法:篇章构成的技巧 (techniques in making texts)
人们讲话或写文章时,常常要把前后讲的 或写的内容加以联系。联系的方式有几类, 它们为语言的应用提供粘合(cohesion)。 取得粘合最常用的方式是返指(referring back)已经提及的事项。取得粘合的另一 方式就是预指(referring forward)将要说及 的事项。
1、并列关系
并列关系指的是两个或两个以 上的句子处于并列的地位,它 们互不从属,在内容上表示客 观并存的事物或现象,共同说 明一个话题。
2、转折关系
句与句之间如果说存在着语意由一个方向转 向另一方向,那么这种句际关系就成为转折 关系。按这种关系组织起来的句组通常表达 “对比”、“对照”等意思。这样的转折关 系有两种表达方式:一种是通过使用转折逻 辑联系语来表示,如but、however;另一种则 没有转折逻辑联系语但转折关系明确。无论 是哪种转折关系,只要我们通过分析判断, 总能跟得上作者的意图转换。
这部分的正文有清楚的思路或论据,在 句子被删除以后读者仍然能够读懂。因 此在做题的时候,应训练考生先浏览留 空的正文和所列出的句子,以便对正文 所讲的内容有个印象。然后,应告知考 生每个空只有一个句子是合适的。
