2019年高考英语一轮复习练习题 Unit 2 Healthy eating(含解析)新人教版必修3
Healthy eating李仕才【阅读理解插花】There have been many great inventions that changed the way we live. The first great invention was one that is still very important today—the wheel. This made it easier to carry heavy things and to travel long distances. For hundreds of years after that there were few inventions that had as much effect as the wheel. Then in the early 1800’s the world started to change. There was little unknown land left in the world. People did not have to explore much any more. They began to work instead to make life better. In the second half of the 19th century many great inventions were made. Among them were the camera, the electric light and the radio. These all became a big part of our life today. The first part of the 20th century saw more great inventions. The helicopter in 1909. Movies with sound in 1926. The computer in 1928. And jet planes in 1930. This was also a time when a new material was first made. Nylon came out in 1935. It changed the kind of clothes people wear. The middle part of the 20th century brought new ways to help people get over disease. They worked very well. They made people healthier and let them live longer lives. By the 1960’s most people could expect to live to be at least 60. By this time most people had a very good life.Of course new inventions continued to be made. But man now had a desire to explore again. The world was known to man but the stars were not. Man began looking for ways to go into space. Russia made the first step. Then the United States took a step. Since then other countries, including China and Japan, have made their steps into space. In 1969 man took his biggest step away from the earth. Americans first walked on the moon. This is certainly just a beginning though. New inventions will someday allow us to do things we have never yet dreamed of.【文章大意】本文主要介绍了发明创造对我们生活的影响。

必修3 Unit 2 Healthy eating李仕才一、阅读理解AWild elephants can tell whether a voice comes from a man, a woman or a boy, a new study says. That's what researchers found when they played recordings of people for elephants in Kenya. Scientists say this is an advanced thinking skill that other animals haven't shown. It lets elephants figure out who is a threat and who isn't. The result shows that the clever animals are also studying people, said study author Karen McComb.“Basically, they have developed this very r ich knowledge of the humans that they share their habitat with,” said McComb, a professor at the University of Sussex in England. “Memory is Key. They must build up that knowledge somehow.”The study was released on Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It's close to but not quite like the Dr. Seuss book, where the elephant Horton hears something that others can't hear.McComb and colleagues went to Amboseli National Park in Kenya, where hundreds of wild elephants live among humans, sometimes coming in conflict over scarce water. The scientists used voice recordings of Maasai men, who on occasion kill elephants, and Kamba men, who are less of a threat to the elephants. As a result, the elephants reacted more defensively—retreating and gathering in a bunch — to the Maasai language recording because it was associated with the more threatening human tribe, said study coauthor Graeme Shannon. They repeated the experiment with recordings of Maasai men and women. Since women almost never spear elephants, the animals reacted less defensively to the women's voices. The same thing happened when they substituted young boys' voices. “Making this kind of fine distinctions in human voice patterns is quite remarkable,” said Emory University animal cognition expert Frans de Waal, who was not part of the study.【文章大意】研究表明野生大象能够识别男、女和男孩的声音,它们通过思维区分声音并判断谁能对他们产生威胁。

Unit 2 Healthy eatingⅠ.阅读理解A(2020·东北三省四市高考模拟) Until last year,Borris would never turn down a pork steak.By the time his owner,Annemarie Formoy, entered him in the PDSA Pet Fit Club petition,he was 28kg—almost double his remended weight. Thanks to a tailored sixmonth diet and exercise,he is now 7kg lighter.Borris,at his heaviest, was not alone. The worldwide rate of pet obesity(肥胖症) lies between 22% and 44%.The reasons are fairly predictable.Owners of overweight dogs feed them more snacks and table leftovers, are more likely to have their pets present as they prepare their own meals and are less likely to walk them daily.Owners of obese cats tend to use food as a reward and play with them less. But obesity also seems to be occurring even in some wild animals that aren't being overfed or underexercised. If these findings are true, something else must be driving obesity and uncovering those could help solve our own problems with the condition.“Labradors are consistently the headline act when it es to overweight dogs,”says Eleanor Raffan,a veterinarian and geneticist. She and fellow researchers discovered that a genetic mutation(基因变异) present in around a quarter of Labradors was associated with obesity. For each copy of the mutation—which occurred in a gene called POMC—a dog was about 2kg heavier. Most of the animals the researchers studied had one copy of the mutation, but fewer had two.“These are dogs always in the kitchen when owners are preparing food, sticking around scouring_a_titbit even if there's not much chance of getting food,or eating disgusting stuff on walks,” Raffan says.“But they're not doing that because it's fun. They're doing it because they're hungry.”That's because POMC mutations disturb the brain's function of controlling food intake and energy consumption. As a result, the behaviour of these Labradors beesvery foodmotivated.语篇解读全球宠物肥胖率在22%到44%之间,弄清楚宠物肥胖的原因对人类应对肥胖问题也很有启发。

A record of 6.15 million trips was made by Chinese mainland tourists to overseas destinations during the sevenday Spring Festival holiday, which ended on Thursday, according to the China National Tourism Administration. That is an increase of 7 percent compared with last year’s Spring Festival. About 374,000 trips were organized by travel agencies, a 2.5 percent increase. The administration also reported growth from individual and highend(高端的)travelers and said that in addition to top and coastal cities, inland cities—such as those in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region—became important source markets. With many Chinese now traveling abroad for Spring Festival, their choice of destinations has expanded along with their growing interest in foreign cultures and services.“Chinese tourists are increasingly willing to experience local cultures and services, including staying in private homes, appreciating plants and watching monkeys in hot springs,” Li Xuejing, the agency’s marketing manager, said.A Chinese tourist surnamed Guo, who was vacationing on an island in the Philippines, said:“I now pay more attention to relaxation and enjoyment during the holidays instead of shopping or choosing gifts for relatives.”Another choice is Britain. Though the devaluation(货币贬值) of the pound is a factor,Britain’s rich history and famous education tradition have caught the eye of Chinese.【解题导语】本文是一篇新闻报道。

Unit 2 Healthy eating李仕才一、阅读理解。
To be sure, only children experienced some things differently fromthose with sisters and brothers. Many feel more pressure to succeed. They also tend to look only to their parents as role models in theabsence of brothers and sisters. In India, 10-year-old Saviraj Sankpal founded a support group forthe tiny minority of only children. Among other things, the group does volunteer work to counter(反对) the myth that they are not responsible. “People think we’re treated too k indly and ruined, ”says Sankpal, a computer engineering student. “But I’d like to remind them how lonely it can get. ”Most only children, however, say they wish for sisters or brothers only when it comes to caring for aging, unhealthy parents. Britain’s D avid Emerson, co-author of the book, The Only Child, says that such a person bears terrible burden in having to make all the decisions alone. Emerson knows from experience: After his father died, he chose to move his elderly mother from their family home, where she was vulnerable(易受攻击的) to house breakers, to a new one with more security. “The move was quite hard on her, and she might feel that I pushed her into it, ” he says. “After all, I am left with that responsibility. ”In the future, more and more only children will likely face similar choices. With working mothers increasing, many families are finding they simply don’t have the time, money or energy to have more than one child. As only children become common, perhaps the world will realize that the charge made against them is unjust. 【文章大意】本文主要讲述了独生子女在社会生活中所遇到的种种困难和各种挑战, 他们要面对社会对独生子女的诸多偏见。

Unit 2 Healthy eatingⅠ.阅读理解ABiologist Robert Pitman and his colleagues tracked orcas,or killer whales, and humpback whales off the coast of Western Australia. To research further, the scientists attached a tracker to a female orca, which allowed them to use satellites to monitor her movements. They followed her for six days.During that time, the orca attacked eight young humpback whales.During the seven attacks, the orca killed the humpback whale calf (幼兽) on three occasions. But the story doesn't end there.Humpback whales themselves are popularly thought to be large but generally, passive creatures.Pitman's study findings may let people think otherwise. When chased by orcas, humpback whales are known to try to outswim orcas. They are thought to do this at high speed so that the orcas can't keep up.On some occasions, the humpback whales sought out protection. They swam to shallow water, nearby reefs,or even under the researchers' boats. These ways often reduced the attack. But at other times, the humpback whales decided to stay and fight. As the orcas approached, the mother humpback would sometimes move her calf to her side,or lift it out of the water using her head or flippers. She also blew huge breaths of air to disturb the orcas, and lunged or charged at them, slashing(劈)and slapping her tail and flippers.Perhaps most surprisingly, humpback whales also have adult “escorts (护卫队)” that try to protect calves that are not their own, joining the mother in defending the smaller whale. These escort whales either charged at the orcas,or placed themselves between the attackers and calves, slashing their tails and flippers.Despite the efforts of the mother whales and escorts, the orcas were more often than not successful in their attacks. But the presence of the escorts did reduce how many times a whale calf was killed.[语篇解读] 本文是一篇说明文,主要讲的是科学家使用科学仪器来观察杀人鲸是如何追杀驼背鲸及后者是如何反击和保护幼小的驼背鲸的。
