旅游英语翻译若干问题研究

旅游英语翻译若干问题研究

摘要：旅游业是近年来最受关注的行业，旅游业具有涉外性的特点。为了更好地适应旅游业快速发展的形

势，

有必要对旅游英语的翻译予以关注。旅游英语翻译与所有专业翻译有共同点，也有自己的特点，诸如与文化历史知识联系紧密，直译为主、意译为辅等。同时旅游英语尤其是风景名胜、历史古迹、历史人物的翻译要尊重真实场景，切莫随意发挥等。只有准确地进行旅游英语翻译，才能更好地为广大中外游客服务。

旅游英语的翻译应该是专业英语翻译的一个分支，与土建英语、医学英语、教育英语、体育英语、商务英语等专业英语的翻译一样，旅游英语的翻译有专业英语的共性特点，如专业术语多，短句多等，但旅游英语的翻译有其自身的特点

，如意译比直译多，需要更多的人文背景知识、对汉语言

文字的要求更高，要体现景点、诗词等旅游文化的美感。同时，在翻译旅游英语时，还要具备跨文化的知识。

1对风景名胜的翻译

中国地域辽阔，自然景点众多，自然和文化遗产数量居世界第二位。因此吸引了很多外国友人来参观、游览。中国的自然风光以名山、名水、园林、喀斯特地貌、火山岩地貌、湿地景观为主，种类繁多，令人目不暇接。而自然风光的翻译要符合景点的特色，

能用直译的采用直译，不能直译的要意译。既不要完全直译，也不要完全意译，因为外国人对中国的文化和内涵不太了解

。翻译时可采用一些方法，把需要

的资料补充进去加以说明，以便外国游客能很好地理解它的意义和渊源，引起在情感、观念及行为上的互动。这样外国游客能更好地产生兴趣，加深对自然景点的理解。我国的名山在翻译时基本采用直译，

这样效果较好，简单明了，如：五岳China's five great /sacred mountains 、泰山Mount Tai 、嵩山Songshan Mountain 、衡山Hengshan Mountain 、恒山Hengshan Mountain 、华山Huashan Mountain 、佛教四大名山Four famous Buddhist Mountains 、五台山Wutai Mountain 、普陀山Mount Putuo 、九华山Jiuhua Mountain 、峨眉山Mount Emei 、黄山Mount Huangshan 或Yellow Mountain 、武当山Wudang Moun-tain 、崂山LaoMountain 等等，这些名山不仅在中国，在世界上

也很出名，如泰山、黄山。直译加音译能使外国人更易理解，而且还能把名山的气势翻译出来。还有一些风景名胜内部的景点也很有特点，我们的名胜内部的景点名称都富有中国文化内涵，有诗意和想象力，凝聚着劳动人民智慧的结晶。如黄山天下奇秀，黄山里有很多美轮美奂的景点，其名称翻译过来也很有意思，例如：迎客松Guest-Greeting Pine 、半山寺Mid-Hill Temple 、云谷寺Cloudy Valley Temple 、光明顶Bright Summit 、天都峰Heavenly Capital Peak 、莲花峰Lotus Peak 、奇松strangely-shaped pines 、怪石grotesque rock forma-tions 、云海seas of clouds 、温泉hot springs ，这种翻译，马上在外国人面前展示出一个个栩栩如生的黄山景观。还有一种大篇幅的翻译风景名胜，即用英语介绍该景区的位置、特点等内容，如下面关于庐山的介绍：The Lushan Mountain ，loca-ted south of Jiujiang City ，Jiangxi Province ，is one of the most fa-mous mountains in China．The mountain features beautiful peaks ，seas of clouds ，waterfalls and historical sites．Bailu Acad-emy is one of Chinese first schools of higher learning．还有峨眉山的介绍：The Emei Mountain The Emei Mountain is one of China's four famous Buddhist Mountains．It is located 7kilome-ters southwest of Emeishan City ，Sichuan Province．There are 150temples on the mountain．The mountain features more than 3000plant species and 2000varieties of animals．庐山和峨眉山都是以秀美著称的，两段介绍就是两段说明文，采用的是直译的方法，按照逻辑顺序介绍了庐山和峨眉山的位置，庐山的特色是魅力的顶峰、云海、瀑布和历史；峨眉山主要以寺庙多美名天下，

大约150座寺庙，让人一目了然。—

2对历史古迹的翻译

中国是世界四大文明古国之一，五千年的历史留下了许多历史文化古迹。对这些古迹的翻译要尊重历史，以直译和增词法为主，意译为辅。如北京象征天安门广场的翻译：Ti-ananmen Square is unarguably on the top list．Lying in the heart of Beijing City，it is the place for massive parades and gathering．It boasts of the largest square of such kind in the world．This was the place when in1949，from a rostrum on Tiananmen（the Gate of Heavenly Peace），Chairman Mao announced the establishment of the People's Republic of China．Tiananmen Square is circled by Tiananmen（Gate of Heaven Peace）on its north；the Great Hall of the People on its west；on the east of Tiananmen Square lies the National Museum of China，there are Monument to the People's Heroes and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum on the south．与风景名胜的翻译不同的是，历史古迹的翻译要忠于历史，不能随意发挥，所以不能使用大量的意译，最好采用平铺直叙的翻译方法。如上例中的天安门广场侧重介绍的是我们中华人民共和国成立的地方，这样可以让国人和老外一起感受那段激情澎湃的历史。

以下是四川著名历史遗迹乐山大佛的翻译资料：Leshan Giant Buddha is located on the east bank of the Minjiang River in Leshan city，Sichuan Province．The Buddha is carved out of a cliff and，being70．7meters tall，is the largest sitting Buddha in China．Carving of the Buddha started in713and was completed in803．The body of Buddha has a water drainage system to pre-vent erosion．通过几组数字，一个活灵活现、气势磅礴的大佛展现在我们面前。

3对历史人物的翻译

中国拥有悠久的历史和古老的文化。在介绍文物古迹的时候，总会联系到大量的历史事件和朝代名称。而外国旅游者对我国的历史朝代并不熟悉，因此最好补充一个朝代的公元年份。例如：清朝康熙年间，可译为during the reign of emperor kangxi（1661—1722）of the Qing Dynasty（1644—1911）。在翻译外国旅游者不熟悉的历史名人时，可以添加相关的背景资料，补充这个人的身份，在历史上的地位和功绩等。如参观明孝陵时，对朱元璋可译为：Zhuyuanzhang，the first emperor in Ming Dynasty，只有如此，翻译才能使外国旅游者更深入地了解我国的历史人物及朝代。

总之，旅游英语的翻译是一个表面简单，其实非常复杂的系统工程，需要译者掌握汉语、英语、旅游、文化、地理、历史、民俗等多方面的知识，唯有如此，才能更好地为广大中外游客服务。

Research on Some Issues in Tourism English Translation

（Department of Foreign Languages，Yunyang Teachers'College，Shiyan442000，China）Abstract：Tourism is an industry that has received the most attention in recent years，bearing foreign characteristics．In order to better respond to its rapid development，it is necessary to pay attention to tourism English translation．While sharing some features with other braches of translation，tourism English translation has its own features，such as its close connection with culture and history，liter-al translation-dominating with liberal translation supplementing．Meanwhile，tourism English translation，particularly the translation of places of interest，historical sites and figures，should respect the authentic situation and avoid casual translation．Only by correctly translating tourism English can it better serve the foreign and domestic tourists．
