Technical Report：Situation of the Use of Microblog among College
Students
Abstract: can be regarded as "the first year of Microblog” of china. During this year the concept of Microblog has been spreaded unprecedentedly. Some major portals opened Microblog channels such as Sina, Tencent. And the Competition between Sina and Tencent is increasingly fierce. Official data (by the end of October ) from Sina shows that Sina Microblog users has reached 200 million, and users publish more than 75 million Microblogs per day.

Microblog as the leader in new media and the version of "Twitter" in china, college students are the main force of Microblog users and they will determine the prospects and trends of Microblog. Because of that I stared a simple questionnaire to find the cu rrent situation of Microblog. I received 32 valid responses, in which 21 investigators are Microblog users, 11 are not. The following analysis is collecting results of the survey.
1. Who is the leader of Microblog
Through Google Trends comparison, It is apparent that the Google index data of Sina Microblog is much higher than Tencent Microblog, Sina Microblog outshines the others. Although in the dry tree compare with Sina, Tencent Microblog has signature strengths over Netease and Sohu Microblog.
As we can infer from the figure above, this is drawn from my questionnaire. The statistics show that Sina Microblog has an
occupation of 80.95%, which is in accordance with the Google Trends. It means that Sina Microblog has an absolute advantage. Under the Matthew effect, not surprisingly, other Microblogs will soon be out of this market.
