Exploring Education, Equality, and Confidence: A 12-Year-Old Girl’s Speech at the UN SummitGood morning, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen.I am honored to be here today to speak to you about the importance of education, equality, and confidence. I am a 12-year-old girl who has experienced firsthand the power and magic of education, and the critical roles that equality and confidence play in enabling me to realize my full potential.Education is the key to unlocking our dreams and aspirations. Without it, we are limited in our ability to understand the world around us, to cultivate our talents and abilities, and to contribute to society. Education empowers us to become the best version of ourselves, and it provides a pathway to create a better future for ourselves and for generations to come.Unfortunately, not all children have access to quality education. According to UNESCO, 258 million children and youth do not attend school, and more than 617 millionchildren are not achieving minimum proficiency levels inreading and mathematics. These numbers are alarming, and they underscore the urgent need for greater investment in education, especially for those who are most marginalized, such as girls, children with disabilities, and those living in conflict-affected areas. As a girl, I know firsthand the challenges that girls face in accessing education. Girls in many countries face discrimination, violence, and harassment that prevent them from going to school. These barriers are unjust and unacceptable. Girls have the right to enjoy the same opportunities and benefits of education as boys, and we must push for policies and programs that break down these barriers and ensure that girls receive quality education.Equality is another critical aspect of empowering young people, especially girls. Gender equality is not just a moral imperative; it is also smart economics. According to the World Bank, closing the gender gap in education could boost global GDP by $15 trillion by 2030. We need to empower girls to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers, and provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Finally, I want to talk about the importance of confidence. Confidence is the foundation of success, and it is something that we must cultivate and nurture in ourselves and in others. Too often, girls suffer from low self-esteem and lack of confidence, which can limit their potential in life. We need to celebrate girls’ achievements, help them develop a strong sense of self-worth, and provide them with positive role models to emulate. In conclusion, education, equality, and confidence are the keys to unlocking the full potential of young people, especially girls. We must invest in education, break down barriers to access, promote gender equality, and cultivate confidence in ourselves and others. As Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Let us use education to create a world of equal opportunities for all, and let us empower girls to realize their dreams and aspirations. Thank you.。

As a 12-year-old girl, I may be seen as young and inexperienced by some, but I believe that my age gives me a unique and valuable perspective on the world around me. Every day, I am learning and growing, and with the help of my parents, my teachers, and my community, I am discovering how I can make a difference in the world.Recently, I had the honor of speaking at the United Nations summit, where I was able to share my thoughts and ideas with leaders from around the world. I spoke about the importance of education, the need for more opportunities for girls, and our responsibility to protect the environment. For me, education is not just a way to gain knowledge and skills; it is a way to change the world. Education is the key to unlocking doors of opportunity, to breaking down barriers of inequality, and to opening minds and hearts to new possibilities. But for too many children, especially girls, education is still out of reach. In some parts of the world, girls are denied education simply because of their gender. This is unacceptable, and itis up to all of us to work to ensure that every child has the chance to learn and grow. Education is a human right, and we must fight for it.At the same time, we must recognize the importance of protecting the environment. Our planet is our home, and we have a responsibility to care for it. We must reduce our carbon footprint, conserve resources, and work to ensure that future generations can enjoy the same beauty and diversitythat we do today. As a 12-year-old girl, I know that I am not alone in my desire to make a difference. There are countless young people around the world who are passionate about creating a brighter future, and we must work together to achieve our goals. We have the power to create change, but we must bewilling to speak up, to take action, and to never give up. We must be resilient in the face of adversity, and we must never let fear or doubt hold us back. When we work together and stand up for what we believe in, we can make a real difference in the world. We can create a future where everyone has access to education, where girlsare valued and empowered, and where the natural world is cherished and protected. So, let us embrace our youth and our passion, and let us work together to create a world that we can all be proud of. The future is in our hands, and I believe that we can make it a bright one. Thank you.。

Then why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do? Do not forget why you're attending these conferences, who you're doing this for--we are your own children. You are deciding what kind of world we will grow up in.Parents should be able to comfort their children by saying “everyting's going to be alright” , “we're doing the best we can” and “it's not the end of the world”。

But I don't think you can say that to us anymore. Are we even on your list of priorities? My father always says “You are what you do, not what you say.”

Hello, I'm Severn Suzuki speaking for E.C.O. - The Environmental Children's Organisation.

We are a group of twelve and thirteen-year-olds from Canada trying to make a difference:Vanessa Suttie, Morgan Geisler, Michelle Quigg and me. We raised all the money ourselves to come six thousand miles to tell you adults you must change your ways. Coming here today, I have no hidden agenda. I am fighting for my future.

Losing my future is not like losing an election or a few points on the stock market. I am here to speak for all generations to come.

I am here to speak on behalf of the starving children around the world whosecries go unheard.

I am here to speak for the countless animals dying across this planet becausethey have nowhere left to go. We cannot afford to be not heard.

I am afraid to go out in the sun now because of the holes in the ozone. I am afraid to breathe the air because I don't know what chemicals are in it.

I used to go fishing in Vancouver with my dad until just a few years ago we found the fish full of cancers. And now we hear about animals and plants going extinct every day -- vanishing forever.

In my life, I have dreamt of seeing the great herds of wild animals, jungles and rainforests full of birds and butterflies, but now I wonder if they will even exist for my children to see.

Did you have to worry about these little things when you were my age? All this is happening before our eyes and yet we act as if we have all the time we want and all the solutions. I'm only a child and I don't have all the solutions, but I want you to realise, neither do you!

You don't know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer. You don't know how to bring salmon back up a dead stream. You don't know how to bring back an animal now extinct. And you can't bring back forests that once grew where there is now desert. If you don't know how to fix it, please stop breaking it!

Here, you may be delegates of your governments, business people, organisers, reporters or politicians - but really you are mothers and fathers, brothers and sister, aunts and uncles - and all of you are somebody's child.

I'm only a child yet I know we are all part of a family, five billion strong, in fact, 30 million species strong and we all share the same air, water and soil -- borders and governments will never change that.

I'm only a child yet I know we are all in this together and should act as one single world towards one single goal.

In my anger, I am not blind, and in my fear, I am not afraid to tell the world how I feel.

In my country, we make so much waste, we buy and throw away, buy and throw away, and yet northern countries will not share with the needy. Even when we have more than enough, we are afraid to lose some of our wealth, afraid to share.

In Canada, we live the privileged life, with plenty of food, water and shelter -- we have watches, bicycles, computers and television sets.

Two days ago here in Brazil, we were shocked when we spent some time with some children living on the streets. And this is what one child told us: "I wish I was rich and if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicine, shelter and love and affection."

If a child on the street who has nothing, is willing to share, why are we who have everything still so greedy? I can't stop thinking that these children are my age, that it makes a tremendous difference where you are born, that I could be one of those children living in the Favellas of Rio; I could be a child starving in Somalia; a victim of war in the Middle East or a beggar in India.
