Attention span, that is, on how long they can concentrate. Most TV programs do not require much concentration and young viewers, especially, get used to this. Education, on the oth er hand, does require concentration and young people find this increasingly difficult. Another characteristic of television is that it encourages a passive attitude in viewer s instead of an active one. Most popular TV programs encourage an uncritical respo nse, but education requires you to think about what is presented to you, to react t o it and in some way to make use of it. In addition, passive TV-watching has oftentaken the place of more active pursuits such as reading, music, playing board gam es and conversation, all of which are more educational than a typical evening of T V.Finally, it seems to be true that television makes it difficult for viewers, especially y oung ones, to distinguish properly between fact and fiction. 考试大纲 清华大学英语水平考试(TEPT)是清华大学外文系为了满足清华大学研究型、国际化人
才培养的需要而研制开发。清华大学英语水平考试参照教育部 2007 年 5 月印发的《大学英 语课程教学要求》,结合我国目前大学英语教学的实际情况,着重考查学生的语言综合运用 能力,特别是研究型大学学术英语运用和国际交流能力,主要包括听力、口语、阅读、写作 及实用汉英转换五项基本技能。 1. 考试对象及基本要求 参加本考试的考生应已经具备以下要求: 1.1. 词汇 领会式掌握约 6,000 单词,其中积极词汇为 2,200(均不包括中学所学的词汇),以及由这些 词构成的词组(包括中学所学单词和词组),并具有按照基本构词法识别理解生词的能力。 1.2. 语法 巩固和加深基本语法知识,提高在语篇水平上运用语法知识的能力。 1.3. 阅读能力 能顺利阅读语言难度中等的一般性题材的文章,掌握中心大意以及说明中心大意的事实和细 节,并能进行一定的分析、推理和判断,领会作者的观点和态度,阅读速度达到每分钟 80 词。在阅读篇幅较长、难度略低、生词不超过总词数 3%的材料时,能掌握中心大意,抓住 主要事实和有关细节,阅读速度达到每分钟 100 词。 1.4. 听的能力 听力考试要求考生能听懂英语授课、日常会话,以及专业性不强的一般性讲座内容,并能听 懂语速为每分钟 130‐‐150 词的英语新闻、谈话、采访、报道和相关电视节目,掌握其中心 大意,抓住其要点和有关细节,领会讲话者的观点和态度,并概括出摘要。考生应具备运用 基本听力技巧的能力。 1.5. 说的能力 能就所给内容和适当的听力材料进行问答和复述,能用英语进行一般的日常会话,能就熟悉 的话题经准备后作简短发言。表达思想比较清楚、语音、语调基本正确。 1.6. 写的能力 能在阅读难度与课文相仿的书面材料时做笔记、回答问题、写提纲,能就一定的话题或提纲 在半小时内写出 150‐‐250 词的短文,能写短信和便条,表达意思清楚,无重大语言错误。 2. 试卷的构成 本考试包括笔试和口试两部分,笔试部分考察学生英语的听、读、写的能力,口试考查学生 的口头表达能力。笔试总时间为 150 分钟,口试时间为 15 分钟左右。试卷具体结构如下:

听力是试卷的第一部分,由 3 部分组成,共 30 个题目,时间为 35 分钟,其中前 30 分 钟供考生听材料并回答问题,后 5 分钟供考生将答案转誊到答题纸上。 4.2. 考查技能 (1) 语音技能: 考生应掌握英语的语音知识和辨音能力,其中包括语音和语调,如单词重 音、句子重音、句子节奏、连读、弱读、不完全爆破、失去爆破、停顿、各种语调所表达的 意思与情感,以及各种数字(时间、年代、电话号码、连续出现的字母)的读法。 (2) 语言知识: 日常口语中经常用到的词汇、短语、句型、日常交际中的各种表达法。 (3) 文化背景知识: 了解英语国家的一些背景知识,风土人情和风俗习惯等。 (4) 理解能力: 考生应具备语篇理解能力,能听懂英语授课、讲座及简短会话、英语新闻、 访问、谈话和电视节目中的各种信息,掌握中心大意、抓住要点和有关细节;判断谈话者之 间的关系;并且能够领会讲话者的观点和态度。 (5) 概括能力: 概括能力考查考生在理解的基础上,能够进一步归纳、总结的能力。 (6) 速记能力: 考生应该能做到在听录音的过程中做速记的能力,并达到较高的速度和准确 度。一方面,它有助于辅助考生理解听力材料;另一方面,它有助于帮助考生回答问题。 4.3. 测试内容 听力材料的内容广泛,涉及考生在真实生活中接触到的场景。通常为正常语速,每分钟 140~ 160 词,并且只播一遍。口音也不尽相同:有以英语为母语的说话者的口音,也有以英语为 非母语的说话者口音。
