Wulong Karst, an important par t of South China Karst, is situated at the lower reaches of the Wu jiang River southeast of Chongqing. It was named as a world nat ural heritage by UNESCO in 2007. Wulong Karst features spect acular karst landscapes, including the three main parts of Furong Cave, Three Natural Bridges and Houping Tiankeng (Houping Giant Doline). Wulong Karst is a valuable treasure that nature cr eated. It is a cluster of several karst landscapes, consisting of gor ges, natural bridges, caves, eroded dolines, shafts and undergrou nd streams. These karst landforms developed in the carbonate ro cks, vividly recording the development and evolution of karst ter rain in the Three Gorges area since Pleistocene Era. Furong Cav e, Three Natural Bridges and Houping Tiankeng are the three re presentative karst landforms, developing under the condition of i ntermittent uplifting movement of the earth. And our destination today The three natural bridges constitute the largest natural bri dge cluster in Asia, and the natural karst bridges are quite high a nd grand, a sight rarely seen anywhere in the world. Three Natu ral Bridges is located 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Cho ngqing City in Wulong County. It is a rare geological wonder an d an eco-tourist's delight. It features three natural karst bridges: Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge and Heilong Bridge. The three natural karst stone arch bridges, with an average height of over 200 meters (656 feet), and an average span of over 200 meters ( 656 feet), constitute the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia. Th e three natural bridges are situated in a 1.5 kilometer (12 mile) - long gorge. They evolved due to tectonic uplift and the erosion b y underground water. Some parts uplifted forming the bridges, a nd others collapsed to form karst pits. Therefore, the unique land scape of 'Three Natural Bridges enclosed with Two Pits' is solely nature's creation. So next let me give you a brief introduction of the 3 bridges resp ectively. The first one is Tianlong Bridge. It is about 235 meters (656 fee t) in height, 147 meters (328 feet) in width. It spans 450 meters ( 1,476 feet), and has two arches from south to north. The south ar ch was also called Mihun Cave. The northern arch is a passage. The buildings at the bottom of the stairways (photo below) were built as a movie set for the 2006 film Curse of the Golden Flow er starring Chow-Yun Fat and Gong Li. In the movie Curse of th e Golden Flower, ninjas were filmed sliding down ropes to attac k the compound, as can be seen in the movie still below. The second bridge, Green Dragon (Qin Long), is a short walk d ownstream from the larger bridge. Qinglong Bridge is about 350 meters (1,148 feet) high, 150 meters (492 feet) wide, and span s over 400 meters (1,312 meters). After the rains, a waterfall pou rs over the bridge and forms a mist. When the sunset reflects on the mist, a colorful rainbow emerges like a dragon ascending to t he heaven. Heilong Bridge has a deep and long arch passage, like a black dragon winding its way out from the passage. The third bridge, Black Dragon (Hei Long) is a waterfall natura l bridge eroded through Wulong Karst. It is the easternmost of a cluster of three large waterfall natural bridges. There are weepin g waterfalls within the opening. The span is estimated at 60 feet and the height is estimated at 380 feet. To get back to the car par k, you have a choice of ascending 1000 stairs past the third brid ge, or go back the way you came, up through the first bridge to t he glass elevator. In 2010 a new road has allowed for van servic e to pick you up in the gorge and take you back to the car park f or a fee. There is also a fee for the elevator but the other entranc e is free and is used by vendors who sell food and souvenirs to t he tourists. Heilong Bridge is also renowned for its four springs with tortuous trickles of stream. The Three Natural Bridges is a karst stone arch bridge cluster unrivalled elsewhere of Asia in te rms of height and the thickness of the bridge surface. It is magni ficent.。

We have reason to believe that he lower reaches of Yangtze River was one of the earliest regions where ancient people started cultivation of rice.部分 聚焦跨湖桥遗址ow, we are in the last part of the hall: Focus on KuahuqiaoThis is the miniature model of the excavation of Kuahuqiao Site. In the above are the photos taken from the excavation site. This series of excavations has also drawn attention from the archaeological academies at home and abroad. It took 20 years of trials and hardships from the discovery and excavation of Kuahuqiao Site to the denomination of Kuanhuqiao Site. On December 16, 2004, Mr. Yan Wenming, a famous archaeologist, declared the official denomination of Kuahuqiao Culture on behalf of archaeological academy. The denomination of Kuahuqiao was of great significance. The introduction to this hall is over, Now, let me take you to the Site Hall!第五部分 独木舟The total area of the Site Hall is about 1000 m2. Here, you can see the most precious reasure of Kuahuqiao Museum: the canoe. This canoe was discovered in 2002. It was dentified as 8000 years old, and was the earliest canoe in the world. Now, we are in the Site Hall. In the distance, we can see the canoe. Because of the protection, the canoe can only be put into the glass room for exhibition. You may feel kind of disappointed. That’s all right; I will show you the charm of the canoe at short range .The remained body of the canoe is of a length of 5.6m with the max width of 53cm. The average thickness of the boat is 2 to 3cm. it is made of a whole log of masson pine. If we observe it carefully, we can find that the head of the boat in the northeastern side iscomplete with an upturned head. Unfortunately, the canoe head in the other side was destroyed It was really a pity. So, what is fire burning method as to make the canoe? In brief, the procedures of this method can be described as follows: cut a whole log into halves; coat one side of the log with wet mud and bake the other side with fire; the baked pine tree has one side (with wet mud) well preserved and other side carbonized; then, use stone axe or stone adz to chop off the carbonized part and finish and dig it into a certain form. When the canoe was discovered, it was not separately placed. There were wooden stakes and stake holes in egular distribution around the canoe. TArchaeologists also discovered three unused wooden paddles around the canoe. According to these phenomena, experts presume that it might be a carpentry processing workshop or a carpentry repair workshop at that time. But how much transportation and shipping capacity would such light canoe possess? As a matter of fact, there are two methods to use the canoe: one is the method of using a single canoe; the other is the method of using an outrigger canoe. In a narrow river course, he single canoe could be directly sailed. If they were to sail to the relatively broad river, ake or sea, a canoe fitted with outrigger should be used. This was the starting point of ship culture of human. The discoveries of the canoe and the site have proved that our ancestors already learned how to sail a boat as early as 8000 years ago, fully illustrating that China is one of the earliest countries that made canoe. It is the pride of every Chinese people! The introduction to the Site Hall ends now. Welcome to visit Kuahuqiao Site Museum next time. Thank you!。
