Stephen Hawking was a brilliant physicist who has made many important contributions to our understanding of the universe. He was known for his groundbreaking work on black holes and the nature of time, as well as his popular science books that made complex concepts accessible to the general public. One of the things that I admire most about Hawking is his perseverance in the face of adversity. He was diagnosed with a rare form of motor neuron disease at the age of 21, which gradually left him paralyzed and unable to speak. Despite these challenges, he continued to work and communicate through the use of a computerized voice synthesizer, and became an inspiration to many people around the world.Another aspect of Hawking's legacy that I findinspiring is his commitment to using science to improve the lives of people everywhere. He was a strong advocate forthe importance of scientific research and education, and believed that science could help us solve some of theworld's most pressing problems.Overall, I believe that Stephen Hawking's life and work serve as a reminder of the power of human curiosity and determination. He showed us that even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, we can still make important contributions to the world around us.

Stephen Hawking, a world famous British physicist,--- 短文英汉对译Stephen Hawking, a world famous British physicist, will write a children's book with his daughter. Hawking said the book will be "a bit like Harry Potter" but without the magic. "It explains the wonders of the universe(宇宙)," said Hawking, while he was on a visit to Hong Kong last week.Hawking, 64, is probably the world's most famous scientist after Albert Einstein. He is an expert on black holes. He has put his whole life into digging into the beginning (and the end) of the universe."My goal is simple," Hawking once said. "It is to completely understand the universe, why it is as it is and why it is there at all."Hawking has a bad illness that stops him from moving or talking. For a period of time, he had no way to communicate except by blinking(眨眼).Now he sits on a wheelchair with a computer by his side. To communicate, he moves two fingers to control the computer's mouse. He selects his words from the screen, which are then spoken by a voice synthesizer(音响合成器)."I have had the disease for most of my life," Hawking once said. "Yet it has not stopped me from being successful at my work."Although Hawking is such a disabled man, he made great achievements. He has received many awards and prizes for his work over the years. This includes winning the Albert Einstein Award. It is the highest achievement in theoretical physics(理论物理).

Stephen Hawking was a renowned physicist and cosmologist who made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of the universe. He was born in 1942 in Oxford, England, and showed an early interest in science and mathematics. However, at the age of 21, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a motor neuron disease that gradually paralyzed him over the years.Despite his physical limitations, Hawking continued his research and became a professor at the University of Cambridge. He is best known for his work on black holes and the theory of relativity, as well as his popular science books such as "A Brief History of Time." His ability to communicate and work despite his severe disability made him an inspiration to people around the world.Hawking's story is a reminder that determination andpassion can overcome even the most daunting obstacles. His famous quote, "However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at," resonates with people facing challenges in their own lives.

Stephen Hawking is famous for his research on the origin of the universe and black holes.

He had a tracheotomy because of pneumonia. Being completely deprived of the ability to speak, speech and question-and-answer can only be accomplished through a speech synthesizer. Hawking's wheelchair and voice machine generate unique computer sounds that are easily recognized around the world.

I think Hawking's most inspiring place is the spirit of not afraid of difficulties. He suffered from motor neuron disease, when doctors diagnosed him with terminal illness and he could only live for two years.

Hehad a gift for using analogies and everyday language to explain difficult concepts. For example, he famously described black holes as "the point of no return" and compared the behavior of black holes to the way that cream mixes into coffee.

Stephen Hawking, a world-renowned physicist and cosmologist, is one of the most influential scientists of our time. His contributions to the field of physics have been groundbreaking and have helped to shape our understanding of the universe. One of Hawking's most famous contributions is his work on black holes. He proposed that black holes emit radiation, which is now known as Hawking radiation. This discovery challenged the long-held belief that black holes were completely black and had no emissions.Another important contribution of Hawking's is his work on the origins of the universe. He proposed that the universe began as a singularity, a point of infinitedensity and temperature, and that it expanded rapidly in a phenomenon known as the Big Bang.Hawking's work has also had a significant impact on popular culture. He wrote several books, including "A Brief History of Time," which became a bestseller and helped to make complex scientific concepts accessible to the general public.Overall, Stephen Hawking's contributions to physics and cosmology have been immense and have helped to shape our understanding of the universe.

Dissecting a Black Hole
• A non-rotating black hole is particularly event horizon simple. • There is a point at the center called the singularity (奇點). It has zero size and infinite density. In fact, its properties cannot be described by currently known physics. • The event horizon (穹界) is a sphere centered at the singularity with radius equal to the Schwarzschild radius of the black hole. • What is inside the event horizon cannot be known by anyone outside because even light cannot escape oand Singularity

No-hair Theorem

Hair here means something complicated (e.g. different styles, colors, perms, etc…). Black holes have no hair because they are simple. Only three things completely characterize a black hole (Hawking 1972): – mass – angular momentum – electric charge

The Black Hole Radius
2GM rs 2 c

For any mass, there is a smallest radius beyond which the object becomes a black hole. This smallest radius rs is called the Schwarzschild radius. Hawking: This defines the size of a black hole, and it depends on the mass only. Anything smaller than its corresponding Schwarzschild radius becomes a black hole.
Black Hole

Black holes represent the final victory of gravity. A black hole is black because gravity is so strong that light cannot escape. The escape velocity at a distance r from the center of an object with mass M is

Space Warps
If
we imagine the spacetime as a “rubber sheet”, then any mass would produce warpings in it. Since black holes produce very strong gravity, spacetime is significantly warped (curved) around them. We see strong light-bending and gravitational redshift.
