小说可以这样写——读西西的《我城》西西是香港实验小说的代表作家之一，她创作的《我城》作为香港本土意识文学的起点，已经成为经典。
小说以虚构的形式，童话般的写作手法通过描写社会中最普通平凡的小人物，向我们展现上世纪七十年代香港的年轻一代的生活。
在我的理解，小说应该是有一个明确明显的主题。
然后围绕着这个主题来展开故事。
而讲故事应该要有一个较为固定的模式：发生、发展、高潮、结局。
有主要人物、次要人物，有主要冲突和次要矛盾。
故事到达高潮部分时，有荡气回肠之势，给人以深刻印象。
把整部小说的主题凸显出来。
这只是我对小说的一贯认知。
当我看了西西的《我城》，才发现，小说原来还可以这样写的。
这部小说不一定要从头开始看。
很多小说，都必须从第一页开始看，否则，就难以理解后面为什么会出现这个人物又或者那个事件。
《我城》中，你可以从中间读起，取任何一小节开始读都可以。
因为，它是由许多零散的人物和事件组合而成的。
亲人的离去可以成为一个故事；搬家可以成为一个故事；我妹阿发写信给邻居也可以当作一个故事。
里面还有不少人物：我阿果、我妹阿发、我姨悠悠、麦快乐等等。
而围绕这些人物又可以展开很多故事。
小说不直接指名道姓地叙述真实发生的事件。
若果要用一个比喻来说明，就是：西西的小说不是用相机拍出来的相片，而是用画笔画出来的印象派油画。
作者描写了一处绿色草地和在草地上发生的一些事情。
“今天，草皮上站了许多人。
”①P15看到这里我会想到，是发生什么重要的事情了。
但毕竟自己不是那个时代的香港人，只能猜测是什么事情了。
可能是为上文提到的地震在拍卖募捐吧。
用如写童话的笔法淡化伤感、矛盾。
忧郁。
父亲的离去，没写呼天抢地的场面，没写失去家庭支柱后的茫然慌乱。
把母亲红肿的眼睛比喻成番茄、南瓜。
捆绑棺材的粗草绳被人一扯，像水蛇一般游走。
童话的笔法把悲伤用可爱的糖果纸包裹起来了。
读者似乎看不到沉重的一面。
但仔细想一下，似乎又能从表面看出里面淡淡的哀伤。
这种手法在《我城》中并不鲜见。

In the ancient world, thoughts of philosophers were normally recorded in form of dialogue. During the mid-16th century, a French philosopher, Michel de Montaigne, literally invented the essay (French word, means ‘to try’) as a form of philosophy. He encouraged people to expand their view through reflecting and reviewing ancient knowledge. This set a precedent for future dissertations (Latin word, means ‘discourse’). During the 16th and the 17th centuries, dissertation was popular among French literary authors and scholars. At the beginning of the 19th century, it passed from the erudite circle to the university. At first, it just appeared in rhetoric and philosophy classes. After years of evolution, it spread through the whole academic world.
