Ⅰ阅读理解(2018·成都高三诊断性检测)Johannes Vermeer is such a quiet and introspective(内省的)artist that it took hundreds of years for anyone to notice he was a genius.A major Vermeer exhibition opens this month at the Louvre in Paris, whose permanent collection includes his great painting of a woman absorbed in close, visually demanding work, The Lacemaker (about 1669-1670). Like other paintings by Vermeer, this image represents modern culture. So attracted are today’s art lovers by Vermeer that it was thought shocking when a recent survey found that 82% of Americans can’t name who painted Girl w ith a Pearl Earring. Well, maybe they don’t go to the movies much.It is not true to say he was forgotten—that would suggest he was famous in his lifetime. He was not. Vermeer was one more painter among the many who worked for money in the Dutch Republic in the 17th century. He was not a star like Rembrandt. He obviously took himself and his art seriously. His self-referential painting The Art of Painting proves that. Even though he worked all his life in Delft, he painted only 35 known works and left his family poor when he died in 1675 at the age of 43.It is fitting that Paris is celebrating Vermeer, because it was the French avantgarde(先锋派) in the 19th century who saved him from being completely forgotten. Compare his painting Woman in Blue Reading a Letter or The Little Street with, say, Edouard Manet’s A Bar at the Folies-Bergère(1882)or Camille Pissarro’s The Boule v ard Montmartre at Night(1897) and it is easy to see why the art of Vermeer found its natural audience in Parisian Bohemia. All these artists are likely to have known about and admired Vermeer due to the efforts of the critic ThoréBürger, a veteran of the 1848 Revolution.Vermeer’s rediscovery is part of the history of modern French art. Vermeer is not only a great artist. He is a great modern artist.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了著名画家Johannes Vermeer的生平和他的艺术特点。

Ⅰ阅读理解(2018·合肥高三质检)Cycling is well known to improve individual healthand fitness; it also benefits the wider population in terms of economy, transport and environment. The EU promotes cycling via many measures primarily to achieve sustainable(可持续的) clean and energyefficient transport systems. However, despite the fact that the benefits outweigh the risks by 20∶1, many consider the risks too great and that the fear of danger on the road needs to be handled. Cycle lanes(车道) have been used to improve cyclists’ safety and encourage more cyclists onto the ro ad. This research in transport aims to study the effect of cycle lanes on cyclists’ safety where passing space given by overtaking(超车) vehicles is concerned. In this study, the authors used a bicycle equipped with cameras to record vehicle overtaking in varying road situations to determine whether cycle lanes, color block cycle lanes or no cycle lanes affect passing distances and cyclists’ safety. Their 3 comparisons measuring vehicle passing widths found greater overall distances given with a cycle lane than without. Color block vs. uncolored cycle lanes showed little or no difference, as did no cycle lanes vs. color block cycle lanes. Color block lanes had a slight negative effect suggesting that drivers are more careful when cycle lanes have less definition(清晰度).Interestingly, the authors conclude that other factors have a far greater effect on cyclists’safety than presence or absence of cycle lanes. Road width, parking, opposite vehicle flow and speed were key influences on decreased passing widths. The authors also note that driver behaviour is a hugely important factor and urge more research in this area. “In order to reduce risks and encourage more cycling, reduci ng and calming the existing motorised traffic must be explored first.” They suggest, “Lane width is the most significant variable(变量) to achieve a sufficient vehicle passing distance. The narrow cycle lanes (<2m) may be not enough. Reconsideration of the entire road design and further exploration of driver behavioural factors are required.”【解题导语】本文主要讲述了为了实现可持续的清洁和节能的交通系统,欧盟大力推广使用自行车,并指出在自行车的推广过程中要解决安全的问题。

课时练1 阅读理解提速练Ⅰ阅读理解A(2018·云南高三检测一)My doorbell rings at 11 a.m. On the step, I find an elderly Chinese lady. She is small and slight. She holds a paper carrier bag in her hands.I know this lady. It is by no means her first visit. Her daughter, Nicole, bought the house next door last October.Nicole, who is currently in Shanghai, has apparently told her mother that I am having heart surgery shortly, and the result is that her mother has decided I need to be supplied with meals.I know what is inside the paper carrier bag—a stainless steel container with a meal of rice, vegetables and either chicken, meat or shrimp. This has become an almostdaily occurrence.Communication between my benefactor(恩人) and me is somewhat handicapped by the fact that she doesn’t speak English and all I can say in Mandarin is “ hello”. Once, she brought an iPad and pointed to the screen, which displayed a message from Nicole telling me that her mother wanted to know if the food was all right.“Your mother just can’t be bringing me meals like this all the time,” I protested. “ I can hardly reciprocate by cooking something from my native land, like roast beef or Yorkshire pudding for her, ”I said.“Oh, no,” Nicole said. “Don’t worry about that. She has to cook for the family anyway, and she wants to do it for you. You can call her Wing, which is her surname.”The tenant in my basement suite is a university student who speaks Mandarin quite well, so with her help, I have found out that Wing is 68—13 years younger than I am. For my part, I was raised in wartime Britain. So here we are, two grandmothers a world away from where we were raised, neither of us able to speak the other’s language. But the doorbell keeps ringing and there is the familiar paper carrier bag, handed smilingly to me by Wing.Right now I am working on some more Mandarin words—it’s the least I can do after such a display of kindness.“Thank you” is, of course, the first one, which somehow seems inadequate.【解题导语】本文是一篇记叙文。

Ⅰ阅读理解(2018·甘肃诊断)The 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics is shared by three scientists, the Royal Academy of Sciences announced in Stockholm on Tuesday. The Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 was divided, with one half awarded to David J. Thouless, the other half to F. Duncan M. Haldane and J. Michael Kosterlitz for “theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter(物质拓扑相变和拓扑相)”.Haldane said he was “very surprised” at the news, adding that he was glad that their discoveries found something previously unnoticed by many, and that they revealed “more possibilities for looking for new materials”. He particularly pointed out that a lot of work was still ongoing. The year’s prize amount is 8 million Swedish krona, and will be split properly between the three winners. The winners are given a sum of money when they receive their prizes, in the form of a document confirming the amount awarded. The amount of prize money depends upon how much money the Nobel Foundation(基金会) can award each year. The purse has increased since the 1980s, when the prize money was 880,000 SEK per prize. In 2009, the monetary award was 10 million SEK. In June 2018, it was lowered to 8 million SEK.If there are two winners of a particular prize, the award money is divided equally between the winners. If there are three, the awarding committee can choose to divide the money equally, or award onehalf to one winner and onequarter to each of the others. It is common for winners to donate prize money to benefit scientific, cultural, or charitable causes.【解题导语】本文介绍了2019年诺贝尔物理学奖的归属以及诺贝尔奖的相关知识,包括奖金的金额、和分配。

2019年高考英语一轮复习新人教版分层演练直击高考试题:Unit 4 Wild life Protection 必修2
Unit 4 Wildlife ProtectionⅠ阅读理解(2018·安徽合肥高三质检)Bees play a vital role in the world. Unfortunately, bees are dying by the second. The main purpose of bees is to make honey. Honey, shockingly, does not exist for human consumption; it is essential to the insects. Honeybees store honey in their hives(蜂箱) in order for the bees to have energy for their flight muscles and for heating the hives during the winter period. They collect pollen(花粉) which supplies protein for young bees to grow.According to National Honey Board, the increased production and quality of agricultural crops as a result of honeybee pollination are valued at more than $14.6 billion per year. These insects are responsible for over 70 of the fruits and vegetables we eat today, including apples, grapes, coffee, beans, and broccoli. So if they are so valuable to agriculture, why do they keep dying off? A key suspect seems to be pesticides(农药). Honeybees who are exposed to pesticides result in the damage to their neurological(神经系统的) functions, specifically memory or behavior. And that’s why the majority of worker bees disappear and leave behind a queen, plenty of food and a few nurse bees to care for the remaining immature bees and the queen. There are several other causes of the decline of bees, including the destruction of natural habitats, like woodlands, forests, and other habitats for bees. Climate change is also a factor in the decline of the wild bee population.Actually, there are a variety of methods to help the bee population grow. One way is to start your own organic garden by planting beefriendly plants. Pesticides are used in both industrial practices and even in your home, so it is best to find organic seeds and weed killers.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文。

Ⅰ阅读理解(2018·江西名校联盟检测)Several decades ago, educators in theU.S.A. began to call attention to a national problem: most students leave American schools without the mathematical skills needed for jobs or for higher education. This was especially true for female and minority students. The Educational Testing Service reported that, in an international survey, American teenagers had the lowest math scores. This situation has been defined as “innumeracy”, or the inability to grasp the basic idea of mathematics.Mathematicians, teachers, and scientists were alarmed by these findings. They looked for the reasons and decided that, in addition to poor education, there are many psychological blocks.Embarrassment about not knowing math can lead to fear in the classroom.Fear can lead to silence because students do not want to draw attention to their lack of knowledge. As a result, those students fall further and further behind.Low__visibility__in__the__classroom__has__notalways been__recognized__as__a__silent__call__for__help.Math educators decided to try to change that.Math reform is beginning with the educators themselves.Teachers are now being trained to recognize and to help students work through “math anxiety”—the roadblock on their way to gaining competence in mathematics. In addition, math textbooks are being updated to help students understand that math is not a sort of foreign language of numbers.Math is a tool that helps us to analyze patterns and structures, and to discover relationships.Traditional computing skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are still being taught, of course. However, there is added emphasis on logical thinking and creative problem solving, to which there may be several equally valid solutions.【解题导语】本文讲述了美国学生无法掌握数学基本概念的现象、原因及相应的对策。
