Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809. When he was a small boy, his family moved to Indiana. Here, his mother taught him to read and write. Lincoln had very little formal education, but he became one of the best-educated men of the Great West.

Exam-taker inspired by drama
During final exams, students try their best to impress teachers in order to get a high score. A student at Chengdu Polytechnic Institute, Sichuan province, did something similar. Xie Qing, a Grade II student, learning make-up and costume design, surprised her teacher and Internet users by preparing a model looking like the main actress of the TV drama, “The Saga of Wu Zetian,” for her final exam.
Schools ban Christmas events
Wenzhou has banned Christmas events in all schools, Wenzhou Evening News reported. The notice was sent from the Wenzhou Education Bureau (教育局) to all kindergartens, primary and middle schools in the city. This is the first time that the education bureau has sent a notice banning any Christmas celebration and activities. The notice caused a heated discussion online. An official from the bureau said it simply wants to make sure that schools pay more attention to traditional Chinese festivals.
Photos to monitor attendance
Calling the roll-call is so old. Instead of taking attendance the traditional way, a teacher at Central China Normal University in Wuhan takes a photo of his class every day to monitor attendance. Meng Xiangbin, who teaches press
photography, takes pictures before and after class, to see who is late, who leaves early and who is absent. Some students say it makes them feel uncomfortable, while some say they prefer this method, because calling the roll-call before class wastes too much time.

People in South Korea who feel they can no longer bear the stress（压力） of everyday life now have the choice to put themselves in a prison to relax and think alone.
The prison is a stress-reduction center named ‘Prison Inside Me’, located on the outskirts of Hongcheon, about 58 miles northeast of Seoul.
It is the brainchild of 47-year-old Kwon Yong-seok, who was once a lawyer. “I didn’t know how to stop working back then,” he said. “I felt like I was being swept away against my will, and it seemed I couldn’t control my
own life.” At that moment, he decided to spend time behind bars. He asked his old friend – a prison head – if he could spend a week in prison, but his request was refused.
So Kwon decided to design and build a prison-like spiritual center. The center was completed in June last year and cost about 2 billion won ($19 million). Kwon managed to cover the cost by borrowing from banks, friends and relatives. The facility, he said, was not built for making money.
The facility includes 28 single rooms, equipped with only a toilet, a sink and a small table, where guests can spend time alone, thinking deeply and enjoying the quiet and peace. According to the Wall Street Journal, hundreds of stressed South Koreans are checking in at the stress-reduction center. A two-night stay at “Prison Inside Me” costs 150,000 won ($146/€106).
Park Woo-sub, a guest said, “It is very boring, but it is very helpful, because I can look into my inner self and talk to myself in prison". Another guest thought the place was too warm and clean to feel like a real prison. He said, “It would have been more helpful if the facility had been in poorer shape like a real prison.”
