Victor Hugo est l'un des plus grands poètes et écrivains de tous les temps. Il est né à Besanç on, France, de parents athées, mais lui-même ne le fut pas. Bien que vivement opposé aux religions et aux clergés tous azimuts, il fut déiste, tout comme Voltaire. Il croyait en un dieu universel, mais il rejetait comme sources d’intolérance et d’injustice toutes les religions. Il fut l’un des plus grands humanistes de l’histoire.
