Scenic spots
The square of Djemaa El-Fna is the highlight of any Marrakech night. Musicians, dancers, and story tellers pack this square at the heart of the medina, filling it with a cacophony of drum beats and excited shouts. Scores of stalls sell a wide array of Moroccan fare (some overcharging heavily; see the Eat section) and you will almost certainly be accosted by women wanting to give you a henna tattoo. Enjoy the shows, but be prepared to give some dirhams to watch. By day it is largely filled with snake charmers and people with monkeys, as well as some of the more common stalls.

Not long after conquering the city of Aghmat, the Almoravid leader, （穆拉比特， 11世纪由来自撒哈 拉的柏柏尔人在西非所建立的王朝） Abu Bakr ibn Umar decided Aghmat was overcrowded and unsuitable as base for his court. He decided to set up his court in the plains near the Tensift River (a river in central Morocco, which passes close to the city of Marrakech and flows into the Atlantic Ocean). He chose the site of Marrakech, because it was in neutral territory between two tribes who were vying （竞争的）for the honor of hosting the new capital.

3 When you walk through a town like this -- two hundred thousand inhabitants of whom at least twenty thousand own literally nothing except the rags they stand up in-- when you see how the people live, and stillmore how easily they die, it is always difficult to believe that you arewalking among human beings. All colonial empires are in reality founded upon this fact. The people have brown faces--besides, there are so many of them! Are they really the same flesh as your self? Do they even have names? Or are they merely a kind of undifferentiated brown stuff, about asindividual as bees or coral insects? They rise out of the earth，they sweatand starve for a few years, and then they sink back into the nameless mounds of the graveyard and nobody notices that they are gone. And even the graves themselves soon fade back into the soil.
