第1篇:英文读书报告Tomorrow is a New Day ——Reading on Gone With the Wind American writer Margaret Mitchell wrote a work merely on the legendary place in the literacy circles of writers, her only work Gone with the Wind has become the United States’ best-selling works of fiction overnight .November 8th, 1900, Margaret Mitchell was born in Atlanta, home of a lawyer. Since childhood, the Civil War, which happening in Atlanta, has become the topic. Of course Atlanta became the natural background of the novel. Margaret has spent ten years’ time to write the novel and half a year’s ti me to cross-check fiction historical events involved in the specific time and place.Gone with the Wind is a novel describes love. Margaret used her female fine and smooth to grasp young women’s complicated psychological activities exactly when they are se eking for love ,modeling this novel’s complex figure Scarlett successfully .Sometimes, this figure was very familiar to us ,but sometimes very strange. Sometimes we could understood her,but sometimes we thought she was unintelligible. However, we could fell she was very authentic from beginning to the end , these were this book’s greatest achievements. Scarlett was young and beautiful but what she had did show her cruel and greedy. In order to re-energize her family property, she took her love and marriage aswk_ad_begin({pid : 21});wk_ad_after(21, function(){$('.ad-hidden').hide();}, function(){$('.ad-hidden').show();});business. She had three marriages, but she was not sincere at all. Finally, she found that, Ashley, the man she kept in mind constantly was weak and incompetent in character. But the man named Rhett Butler was worthwhile to be loved. From the view of appreciation of the beauty, the person who had a complicated character could not be intaken into a negative character simply. In previous novels, the author used to shape the character in a simple way. Gone with the Wind has broken this descriptive method. The novel by the characters presented to us are both positive and negative of the combination.Scarlett, the leading character in the novel, impressed me the most. So I want to talk something about her. Her character was very complex. She was childish and optimistic. She had a tense feeling and her feeling was apt to be revealed. In the meanwhile, she was self-willed and like a bear with a sore head. She was also quite responsible for her own action. She was not good at analyzing and introspection. These characters made her use six or seven years’ experiences to realize that the unwilling love was wrong. This kind of love was just a fine kink but not real exist. From another point of view, I appreciate Scarlett’s brave and strong. When she faced difficulties she would say: Tomorrow is another day. Yeah, what a reasonable sentence. It’s of great philosophic theory. It told us to be confident to life. When I meet difficulty, I will tell myself: tomorrow is another day.Gone with the Wind has a very significant position in our society. We feel America is an incredible and strange country, but Gone with the Wind uncovers her too softhearted veil, making people see many things that dirty and glorious are coexisted. It also has a special significance to adolescents. This novel becamefamous overnight as soon as it published. This novel which reached a length of 1000 pages shocked American. The movie Gone with the Wind was adapted from this novel. The movie made the novel even more famous. It is quite worth reading.第2篇:英文读书报告Gone with the WindIn my childhood, I once prefer reading fairy stories which accompany with me in my alone days. The author is Vicky Phillips.Vicky Phillips is a pioneer in adult education and distance learning, and founder and CEO of “”.She is the author of the well-known book Never Too Late to Learn: The Adult Student’s Guide to College. This paper is a business trip around the run into a problem launch. once the author on a business trip a man asked her what she did for a living. The author gave him an honest answer without think. To make him understand, the author explained alot.Through detailed introduction of the author, we got she designed America’s first online counseling center for distance learners. Distance learning, or educational programs where pupil and professor never meet face-to-face, are nothing new. And the author taught psychology and career development .Her post is the World Wide Web. Posting assignments to electronic bulletin boards and sending graded papers across the international phone lines in traffic-free email packets. From the author, it is hard to imagine teaching anywhere other than in the liberal freedom that is cyberspace. In cyberspace, teachers listen, read, comment and reflect on what students have to say--each of them in turn .What they know, they must communication to teachers inwk_ad_begin({pid : 21});wk_ad_after(21, function(){$('.ad-hidden').hide();}, function(){$('.ad-hidden').show();});words .They cannot sit passively in the back row twiddling their mental thumbs as the clock ticks away. This can be very good to promote students' autonomous learning, let the students from the heart to learn. What’s more , Education in Cyberspace is beneficial to the old .They are telecommuting to campus because they could not ,or would not ,uproot their careers and kids or grandkids to move to a college campus—an entity modeled after the learning monasteries of medieval times .A cyber-education suits the old because it respects their abilities to define for themselves what knowledge is and to go after it .It encourages them to argue their points and their perspectives without the interference of a professor, who might be tempted to step in to “clam down ”or “refocus” an otherwise wonderfully enlightening classroom debate . In today'ssociety, some people think that, along with the rapid popularization of the Internet, network education will be on the traditional education in a profound revolution, will eventually replace the traditional education. There is no denying the fact that set up network school and develop the network education, education teaching reform to bring new life and opportunity, but I still think: the network education can't replace the traditional education.First, network education the drawbacksTo guarantee the quality of network teaching depend on many factors common USES, such as teaching both parties must have a computer hardware technology environment, must have access to, network must be clear, more important is, teaching the two sides also must have appropriate technology level. In addition, the network teaching because of the space, the teacher unique personality charm, sings in the teaching with the student emotion, moral, of knowledge and ability to achieve the effect of teaching, the teacher also difficult to be network teaching the multi-level teaching and teach students in accordance with their aptitude, some in the name of the upper borrow online, all day in the stroll online. Most online schools cannot form new mode of learning, and is still traditional education model alternatives. An online school quality also is intermingled, much online service position is not clear. Second, the advantages of the traditional educationTraditional education is a closed, force-feeding teaching too, but its basic form position is still network education cannot replace. The traditional education network education have class than study atmosphere, the teachers and students to exchange, classroom teaching is easy to control, easy to learning motivationand other advantages, in addition, documented learning resources network digital learningresources than more easy to use and carry, network education is also has many advantages, but it can only to the traditional education in a supplementary role, should not also can't replace the traditional education. With the development of the society, our life is more and more digital, with the development of science and technology, and remote education also became more and more popular. But now there is no complete popularity. In China, we are still in a traditional teaching primarily. Only some remedial class, may be online. In my opinion, distance education, advantages and disadvantages. Online teaching, teachers don't have to eat chalk. Such a body good. And do not go out and then can learn much knowledge, convenient. But, this only part of it to learn useful talent. Some people don't want to learn might just deal with the teacher just, and not himself to learn. You can call others generation homework to do. Because the teacher simply can't see, network after all is unreal.(本文素材来源于网络,如有侵权,请联系删除。

A Book Report on Charl otte’s WebIntroduction:Charl otte's Web is a chil dren's novel by American author E. B. White, The book was first published in 1952, with illustrations by Garth Williams. Publishers Weekly listed the book as the best-selling chil dren's paperback of all time as of 2000.Body: The novel tell s the story of a pig named Wilbur and his friendship witha barn spider named Charl otte. When Wilbur is in danger of being sl aughtered by the farmer, Charl otte writes messages praising Wilbur (such as "Some Pig") in her web in order to persuade the farmer to l et him live. Thanks to Charl otte's effort s, and with the assistance of the gluttonous rat Templ eton, Wilbur not only lives, but goes to the county fair with Charl otte and wins a prize. Having reached the end of her natural lifespan, Charl otte dies at the fair. Wilbur repays Charl otte by bringing home with him the sac of eggs (her "magnum opus") she had l aid at the fair before dying. When Charl otte's eggs hatch at Zuckerman's farm, most of theml eave to make their own lives el sewhere, except for three: Joy, Aranea, and Nellie, who remain there as friends to Wilbur; but none of them can repl ace Charl otte. Conclusion: “But it’s unfair,” cried Fern. “The pig coul dn’t help b eing born small, coul d it? If I had been very small at birth, woul d you have kill ed me? ” The talk impressed me a l ot when I was reading the book. It is indeed true that every life shoul d be respected because all men are created equal, so are the animal s. I think that the true st ar of the novel is Charl otte, a character peopl e will never forget. The stories she tol d Wilbur, the lull aby she sang for him and the miracl e words she waved in her webs for Wilbur, everything she did touch every reader. There are tow scenes about Charl otte that impress me most. One is the scene of the meeting about choosing the right word to be waved in the web among all the animal s, and the other one is the scene that when Charl otte waved the word “TERRIFIC”, she talked to hersel f, as though to cheer herself on. She helped Wilbur for all her life, but she asks nothing for back. All things she did show a kind of self-sacrifice. How kind and l ovely the spider was! Some peopl e say that friendship is something hard to believe, to find and to foll ow. But see Charl otte, Wilbur and their happy life in a small barn, helping each other without asking for reward means friendship.A Book Report on Oliver TwistIntroduction:Oliver Twist, al so known as The Parish Boy's Progress, is the second novel by English author Charl es Dickens, published by Richard Bentl ey in 1838. Body: he story is about an orphan, Oliver Twist, who endures a miserabl e existence in a workhouse and then is pl aced with an undert aker. He escapes and travel s to Lond on where he meet s the Artful Dodger, l eader of a gang ofjuvenil e pickpocket s. Oliver is l ed to the l air of their el derly criminal trainerFagin, naively unaware of their unl awful activities.Oliver Twist is notabl e for Dickens' unromantic port rayal of criminal s and their sordid lives. The book exposed the cruel t reatment of many a waif-chil d in London, which increased international concern in what is sometimes known as "The Great Lond on Waif Crisis": the l arge number of orphans in Lond on in the Dickens era. The book's subtitl e,The Parish Boy's Progress, alludes to Bunyan's ThePil grim's Progress and al so to a pair of popul ar 18th-century caricature seriesby William Hogarth, "A Rake's Progress" and "A Harl ot's Progress". Conclution: In this book, Oliver, Nancy, Miss Rose are good, they are born in a worl d full of dark and sin. But the worl d in their heart remained a pure and kind heart. Finally, kindness over the power of justice over evil, although Nancy finally died, but it was her death to make the thief grotto damaged. Therefore in the novel, the spirit of Nancy and the reward of Oliver’s is a good return. But the sinful peopl e like the thief grotto, Essex, Bumbl e and Essex all had a tragic end.The writer knew cl early what to l ove and what to hate. He made every charter lively. I think that the poor boy Oliver Twist is the mirror of the writer’s chil dhood. Dickens’ family was very poor, so he had to work when he was very young. He had l ooked through the society of that time, so he began to write novel s to expose the dark side of the peopl e and the society. I think that, the peopl e in the thief grotto were just like the peopl e who d o bad things to peopl e (not only the rogues, but al so the peopl e in the high l evel who oppressed peopl e).At l ast, I want to say, peopl e must cl early knows that, what is kindness and what is evil. This is the book want to tell us most.A Book Report on Pride and PrejudiceIntroduction: Pride and Prejudice is a novel by Jane Austen, first published in1813. The story foll ows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deal s with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the l anded gentry of early 19th-century Engl and. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentl eman living near the fictional town of Meryton inHertfordshire, near Lond on. It has become one of the most popul ar novel s in English literature and receives considerabl e attention from literary schol ars. Modern interest in the book has resulted in a number of dramatic adaptations and an abundance of novel s and stories imitating Austen's memorabl e characters or themes. To date, the book has sol d some 20 million copies worl dwide.Body:There are quite many characters indeed. The Bennet family it self has 7 characters, not to mention their rel atives and friends and the characters from Darcy’s side. Even so, each character is a distinctive individual so that the story becomes incredibly col orful. Just take the five Bennet girl s as exampl e. Jane is a littl e bit unsophisticated and too kind to even doubt others whil e her best sister and friend Elizabeth makes this fl aw up for her. She is independent and straightforward enough to make the prejudice part happen. Next comes the spiritl ess Mary who reads a l ot but knows a littl e. As for the youngest two, they seem to be simil ar but actually different essentially. Lydia is flirtatious and featherbrained obviously. Kitty, though is the el der one, always foll ows her younger sister steps and ideas, so she is more weak-minded than flighty actually. Pride and Prejudice is such excell ent work that has multipl e highlight s in both writing and content s. Each time reading it is a unique experience of travelling back to Austen’s time and l ooking into her inner worl d.Conclusion:After I read this story, I think that it must have been hard for Elizabeth to go through all those things in the story, and it must have been very hard making choices everyday of your life, in which both choices, whatever you choose, will change your life forever. I feel that this book is quite nice except it’s a bit too real, so if they add a bit of imagination in it, I think it will be great. It is al so a very nice book, if you say so. But I feel that they shoul d not think that money is so import ant, for money is import ant, but it isn’t as important as the characters in the book think. Mrs. Bennet is a very good mother, who wishes her daughters to be married well, and I think she can be better if she thought that money isn’t all, but amiability and l ove is even more important. I feel that this book is quite boring and I coul d fall asl eep when reading it. But, I say, only a few part s are boring, and most of it is quite nice. I think the story is one of the few cl assics that has a happy ending.A Book Report on Great ExpectationsIntroduction:Great Expectations is a novel by Charl es Dickens. It depict s the growth and personal devel opment of an orphan named Pip. The novel was first published in serial form in Dickens' weekly periodical All the Y ear Round, from 1 December 1860 to August 1861.Body:Miss Havisham was a rich ol d woman who had been aband oned by a bad guy. She lived with Estell a who had been brought up by her only to revenge men. Pip fell in l ove with Estell a, but Estell a despised Pip and always insulted him. Thus he felt ashamed of his poverty and his “highest goal”. One day, Pip’s tol d by al awyer that he woul d have a great expectation. He’s sent London to receivegentl emen’s education. Later, Pip l ost financial support because of his secret supporter, the fugitive whom the littl e Pip saved, was arrested and hanged. But Pip fulfill ed his expectation by working hard in India for 11 years and finally met Estell a again.Conclution: Frankly speaking, I don’t like Pip. I think he is kind of ungrateful. When he was informed of Joe’s visit, he woul d rather pay him to g o away. He was worried that Joe’s poor appearance, poor manners and uneducated way of speaking woul d ruin his gentl eman’s reputation. I feel ashamed of him, since even the prisoner knows the value of gratitude. It makes me rethink the definition of gentl eman. To my mind, kindness and conscience are two d efining attributes of a true gentl eman. A true gentl eman needs out side beauty, such as good appearance and good manners, but more importantly, he shoul d possess inner beauty. In my opinion, Pip gradually l ost his inner beauty which he once had in the gentl eman-making process. He is not a true gentl eman. He was only made a “gentl eman” void of gentl e qualities. The titl e of gentl eman in this novel reads ironic.A Book Report on The Call of the Wil dIntroduction: The Call of the Wil d is a novell a by American author JackLond onpublished in 1903. The story t akes pl ace in the ext reme conditions ofthe Yukon during the 19th-century Kl ondike Gol d Rush, where strong sl ed dogs were in high demand. After Buck, a d omesticated dog, is snatched from a pastoral ranch in California, he is sol d into a brutal life as a sl ed dog. The novell a detail s Buck's struggl e to adjust and survive the cruel t reatment he receives from humans, other dogs, and nature. He eventually sheds the veneer of civilization altogether and instead relies on primordial instinct s and the l essons he hasl earned to become a respected and feared l eader in the wil d.Body:The book mainly described a dog Buck, who was stol en from a rich comfort abl e home in the southl and and forced to work as a sl ed dog in the col d northl and. He was ill-treated by peopl e and fought with other dogs all the time. During his struggling with peopl e, dogs and the nature, he became stronger and stronger, more and more primitive. His final owner was John Thorton and John was the only person who really cared about Buck. However, John was kill ed by Yeehat Indians. The l ast tie between Buck and human was broken, so he answered the call from the wil d and became a primitive wil d animal eventually. Conclusion: During reading this book, I was greatly shocked by Buck’s strong will to live. His character shone brightly. He was cl ever and intelligent, had firm and brave character, had team spirit and l eadership. In some aspect s, he was better than peopl e. He had the ability to think independently and considerately, which I think is al so very important to peopl e, especially we student s. Facing the difficulties, he never gave up, but tried his best to overcome them. I genuinely appreciate it. In ad dition, I think more about the rel ationship between dogs and mankind. We always say d ogs are peopl e’s most sincere and honest friends, but in this book, most of peopl e treated dogs just as their sl aves. Maybe at that time, probl em of food and cl othing was major, so concern to animal s was l ess. Nowadays, what we seek is harmony and peace, so our concern to animal s shoul d be more and more.。

英语读书报告(优秀7篇)英语读书报告篇一Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice is a lighthearted tale of love and marriage in eighteenth-century England. It centers on the elder sisters of the Bennet family, Jane and Elizabeth. Their personalities, misunderstandings and the roles of pride and prejudice play a lavishing story. This story is told from third point of view. From my perspective Jane Austen wanted to convey love wins over prejudice and to not just take in the saying of first impression but to look in the person's character deeper. Jane Austin was born in 1775 in Stevenson, Hampshire. Her family wasn't rich but managed to give her a decent education. She was the seventh of eight children of her father, a clergyman. Like other young women of her social class, Jane and her sister Cassandra were educated mostly at home in subjects of music, drawing, painting, needlework, and social behavior. Her father's encouragement and her own enjoyment in reading led Jane to became very well read. At fourteen she began to write little plays for home theatricals.
