A nation should require all its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college rather than allow schools in different parts of the nation to determine which academic courses to offer.2. While some leaders in government, sports, industry, and other areas attribute their success to a well-developed sense of competition, a society can better prepare its young people for leadership by instilling in them a sense of cooperation.3. Insgroupsto improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.4. Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study because acquiring knowledge of various academic disciplines is the best way to become truly educated.5. Colleges and universities should offer more courses on popular music, film, advertising, and television because contemporary culture has much greater relevance for students than do arts and literature of the past.6. It is primarily through formal education that a culture tries to perpetuate the ideas it favors and discredit the ideas it fears.7. Some educational systems emphasize the development of students'capacity for reasoning and logical thinking, but students would benefit more from an education that also taught them to explore their own emotions.8. (1~19)(1):Issue"The reputation of anyone who is subjected to media scrutiny will eventually be diminished."

"Sample EssayThe intensity of today's media coverage has been greatly magnified by the sheer number and types of media outlets that are available today. Intense competition for the most revealing photographs and the latest information on a subject has turned even minor media events into so-called "media frenzies". Reporters are forced by the nature of the competition to pry ever deeper for an angle on a story that no one else has been able to uncover. With this type of media coverage, it does become more and more likely that anyone who is subjected to it will have his or her reputation tarnished, as no individual is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. The advances in technology have made much information easily and instantaneously available. Technology has also made it easier to dig further than ever before into a person's past, increasing the possibility that the subject's reputation may be harmed.[范文正文]当今媒体报道的力度,由于当今时代所能获得的媒体渠道那前所未有的数量和种类,从而被极大地增强。

But such a theory was not comprehensively understood by more than ten people at that time.2)Some reasonable and conducive ideas are repudiated becausethey contradict the basic benefit of the ruling class. Copernicus’s theory about solar-centered universe instead of the pervasive earth-centered universe was more approximate to the truth, if not correct. Nevertheless, it offended the interests of the ruling class, the pontiff in this case.3)Undeniable is that there do exist some ideas that are appreciatedby the contemporaries. Bill Gates’s contribution to personal computer and Larry Page’s to internet searching engine.42.S tudents should always question what they are taught instead ofaccepting it passively.1)Skepticism is what enhances the acquired knowledge. Working pressure lead to headache or even suicide. In this sense, such a shift adds to the instable factors of society and upset our tranquil lives.3)Dealing with such a development and shift in lifestyle is more asubjective issue than a objective one. We should adjust our mental condition and adapt ourselves to this very rapid pace. 44.C laim: It is no longer possible for a society to regard any living manor woman as a hero.Reason: The reputation of anyone who is subjected to media scrutiny will eventually be diminished.1)It is reasonable to claim that media has negative impact on thereputation of heroes. Medias are so dedicated to scrutinize every drawback of celebrities and heroes.2)Sometimes, media also plays a positive role in promoting a heroespecially when stability of society is at stake. t that, by the virtue of freedom, any goals other than ones that are harmful to the society or themselves ahould be encouraged.
Long-term goals have their virtue in the sense that they help the young people to think about the future and that a determined long-term goal save the energy and time, which will otherwise be wasted in unmeaningful doings. But we should never forget that a long-term goal without many specific immediate aims will defenitely die as a beautiful picture on the paper rather than being changed to be a reality. For me, although I had decided to pursue a PHD, if I don't figure out what I should do in each period, performing well in GRE as one of the many immediate goals, for example, I will fail this long-term goal when I graduate from my current university.

And once he said,” when I first touch thetheory of classic mechanic, I feel that there are some problems in it." It is his ability of critical thinkingand not to agree the authority blindly, that finally results that he put forward to the famous theory ofrelativity and lead the people to explore the world of microcosmic and high-speed.2、beginner要有更多积累,系统学习The institute of mathematics in Chinese Academy of Science receives hundreds of letters fromamateurs every year, each of them claims that he has proved Goldbach's conjecture. But themathematicians find that most of these demonstrations lack the elementary knowledge of the numbertheory, and none of so-called demonstrations can be verified.Newton once said :"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.", and these"shoulders of giants" are knowledge, methods, experience that had been passed down from ourantecessor, and these are the foundations of making a discovery.3、专家ready to make significant discoveriesDarwin, for instance, devoted himself in biology since he was a child, and after long timeinvestigation and researching, he found that all species were evolved by natural selection from simpleand preliminary conditions, and wrote his famous book "The Origin of Species".Another, Einstein, who found the special and general relativity, the theory that revolutionizedmodern thought on the nature of space and time, based on decades of working in physics. 第四类科技7. "The video camera provides such an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life that it has become a more important form of documentation than written records."摄像机可以通过如此精确而有力的记录手段来再现当代生活,因此它已经代替书面记录成为了一种更重要的记录手段。

Although I agree that a video provides a more objective and accurate record of an event’s spatial aspects, there is far more to document in life than what we see and hear. Thus the speaker overstates the comparative significance of video as a documentary tool.1. For the purpose of documenting temporal, spatial events and experiences,I agree that a video record is usually more accurate and more convincing thana written record.2. Nonetheless, for certain other purposes written records are more advantageous and more appropriate than video records.3. Finally, a video record is of not use in documenting statistical or quantitative information. "The primary goal of technological advancement should be to increase people's efficiency so that everyone has more leisure time."

Disagree:1. The chief reason for my disagreement lies in the empirical proof: with technological advancement comes diminished leisure time.2. Meanwhile, the su ggestion that technology’s chief goal should be to facilitate leisure is simply wrongheaded. There are far more vital concerns that technology can and should address. "As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate."

Technology is a double-edged sword that may either serve or harm human interests.1. On the one hand, it is possible that people may become the slaves of technology.2. On the other hand, technology may save people’s time and energy so that they could devote themselves to more creative and meaningful work.3. Moreover, technology provides people with effective instruments for intellectual work. "Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development"政府应该少限制科学研究和发展。

Disagree1. Without government funding, scientists would find it difficult to carry out large-scale projects.2. Government can also organize scientists to solve the most urgent problems that concern society.3. However, government should refrain from interfering with the freedom of scientific enquiry. "Technologies not only influence but actually determine social customs and ethics."

1. Technologies have radically changed the way we spend holidays.2. The new ways of communication brought about by electronic technology have transformed the way we associate with each other in our daily lives.3. However, we should not let technologies determine our ethics. "Instant communication systems encourage people to form hasty opinions and give quick replies rather than take the time to develop thoughtful,well-reasoned points of view."

Instant communication systems tend to discourage thoughtful andwell-reasoned points of view.1. Instant communication systems usually require quick replies.2. The pressure of time and space—a key feature of instant communication—forces people to form hasty opinions rather than thoughtful and well-reasoned points of view.3. On the contrary, traditional ways of communication such as hand-written letters or face-to-face discussion are more likely to induce in-depth thinking. "Humanity has made little real progress over the past century or so. Technological innovations have taken place, but the overall condition of humanity is no better. War, violence, and poverty are still with us. Technology cannot change the condition of humanity."

Although I agree that technology cannot ultimately prevent us from harming one another, the statement fails to account for the significant positive impact that the modern industrial and computer revolutions have had on the quality life—at least in the developed world.1. I agree with the statement insofar as there is no technological solution to the enduring problems of war, poverty, and violence, for the reason that they stem from certain aspects of human nature—such as aggression and greed.2. For every technological innovation helping to reduce human suffering is another that has served primarily to add it.3. Notwithstanding technology’s limitations in preventing war, poverty, and violence, 20th Century technological innovation has enhanced the overall standard of living and comfort level of developed nations.4. Of course, such progress has not come without costs. "It is through the use of logic and of precise, careful measurement that we become aware of our progress. Without such tools, we have no reference points to indicate how far we have advanced or retreated."
