河北省石家庄实验中学2019-2020学年高一英语3月月考试题(无答案)阅读理解(每小题2.5分,共25分)AI had a great time this past summer visiting Stone Mountain Park with my twin grandsons. I had the opportunity to spend the day with them seeing the various sights and attractions. One thing that my grandsons had really wanted to do that particular day was to climb to the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain isn't a particularly tall mountain and fortunately has walking trails to the top, but for two 5-year-olds, along with Grandpa, it's a formidable task.Since my grandsons' enthusiasm was much greater than mine, I decided to start the slow walk up the mountain. The beginning part of the trail was slow and gradual. It seemed like we were taking forever to climb just a short distance, but I had to remind myself that it took 3 of their steps to equal1 of mine, so I found myself walking ahead of them, then having to stop and let them catch up, over and over again.I was tired and sweaty, just wanting to get to the top of the mountain so I could rest well before starting my way back. I learned early during our walk that this wasn't going to be the case. We had to stop and look at every large rock with someone’s name carved in it. We looked at unusual plant formations. We examined large trees and we explored small rock overhangs that reminded the kids of caves. My grandsons viewed the walk as an exciting adventure. Climbing the mountain was a trial to me but my grandsons were not focused at all on the trial of climbing the mountain; they were simply enjoying the journey of the walk.I know when I face a trial in life, I tend to always think of the problem.I want the trial to be over quickly and let life get back to normal. What can I learn during the course of trial? At some point, the trial will be over and we'll be joyous for sure. However, the real joy should not be that the trial’s over, but I am celebrating what I learned during the journey.1. What does the underlined word "formidable" in Paragraph 1mean?A. Relaxing.B. Meaningful.C. Strange.D. Difficult.2. What can we know from Paragraph 2?A. The writer kept challenging his grandsons to catch up with him.B. Old as the writer was, he walked much faster than his grandsons.C. The writer and his grandsons walked up the mountain very fast at the beginning.D. The writer was more eager to climb to the top of the mountain than his grandsons.3. Why did the writer only want to reach the mountain top?A. To have a good rest.B. To get a better view.C. To enjoy unusual plants.D. To see large rocks carved with names.4. What can be the best title of the text?A. A tiring day spent with grandsonsB. Joy coming from mountain-climbingC. A life lesson learnt from grandsonsD. Learning to enjoy the journeyBHoney(蜂蜜)from the African forest is not only a kind of natural sugar, it is also delicious. Most people, and many animals, like eating it. However, the only way for them to get that honey is to find a wild bees' nest(巢)and take the honey from it. Often, these nests are high up in trees, and it is difficult to find them. In parts of Africa, though, people and animals looking for honey have a strange and unexpected helper---a little bird called a honey guide. The honey guide does not actually like honey, but it does like the wax (蜂蜡) in the beehives (蜂房). The little bird cannot reach this wax, which is deep inside the bees’ nest. So, when it finds a suitable nest, it looks for someone to help it. The honey guide gives a loud cry that attracts the attention of both passing animals and people. Once it has their attention, it flies through the forest, waiting from time to time for the curious animal or person as it leads them to the nest. When they finally arrive at the nest, the follower reaches in to get at the delicious honey as the bird patiently waits and watches. Some of the honey, and the wax, always falls to the ground, and this is when the honey guide takes its share.Scientists do not know why the honey guide likes eating the wax, but it is very determined in its efforts to get it. The birds seem to be able to smell wax from a long distance away. They will quickly arrive whenever a beekeeper is taking honey from his beehives, and will even enter churches when beeswax candles are being lit.5. What do the words "the follower" in Paragraph 2 refer to?A. A bee.B. A bird.C. A honey seekerD. A beekeeper.6. The honey guide is special in the way____________.A. it gets its foodB. it goes to churchC. it sings in the forestD. it reaches into bees' nests7. What can be the best title for the text?A. Wild BeesB. Wax and HoneyC. Beekeeping in AfricaD. Honey-Lover's HelperCLiving and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher. If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship, you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve anything.Communication begins with the concerns of another. It means that you can’t just come home from school, go up to your room and ignore (不理睬) everyone. Even if you just say “Hi”, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing. If you looked up the word “communication”in a dictionary, it would say “the exchange of ideas, the conveyance (表达)of information, correspondence (通信), means of communication: a letter or a message”. To maintain (保持) a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it’s just by writing a note. When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you’ll listen to what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the situation worse. This is an example: one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn’t feel she could just ask to go home. That would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, not when Sophie explained why she was late, they weren’t as mad and let the incident go. Communication is the key factor here.If Sophie’s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.Communication isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, telling the other person how youfeel-listening is the key factor to communication.8. In the writer’s view, dealing with parents is __________ than with children.A. more difficultB. easierC. more uninterestingD. more interesting9. The example in this passage proves that ___________.A. Sophie’s parents are willing to listen to herB. Sophie is very polite to her parentsC. Sophie did well in explaining her being lateD. communication is the solution (解决办法) to misunderstanding10. All the following statements are correct except “_______”.A. If you don’t agree with others, you’d better let them knowB. It is better to say “Hi” to others than say nothingC. If you are not able to communicate, walk awayD. Communication is a two-way deal7选5(每小题2分,共10分)Losing weight is tough. For most people, it requires a change in diet,a change in exercise habits, and a change in attitude. 11Set healthy goals. If you’re overweight and want to change that, the first step is deciding what your target weight is. 12Start small.Making major behavior modifications (行为矫正) isn’t something that happens overnight. 13 Commit(承诺) to eating 5 servings of vegetables a day and exercising 2 days a week for the first week, then add a little more each week.Track your diet and exercise. Now it’s time to start working toward that goal. The best way to stick with your diet and exercise rules is to track it. 14 Or you can do it the old fashioned way and keep a written food and exercise journal. Find what works for you and write down what you’ve accomplished(完成) every day.15Every month you should take a look at your goal and see what type of progress you’ve made toward accomplishing it. Welcome to your future life. Getting ready for work, you pause in front of the mirror.“Turn red,” you say. Your shirt changes from sky blue to deep red. Tiny preprogrammed electronics ( 智能电⼦元件) are rear-ranged in your shirt to change its color. Looking into the mirror, you find it hard to believe you’re 40. You look much younger. With amazing advances in medicine, people in your generation may live to be 150 years old. You’re not even middle-aged! As you go into the kitchen and prepare to pour your breakfast cereal into a bowl, you hear, “To lose weight, you shouldn’t eat that.” from your shoes. They read the tiny electronic code (电⼦源码) on the cereal box to find out the nutrition details. You decide to listen to your shoes. “Kitchen, what can I have for breakfast?” A list of possible foods appears on the counter as the kitchen checks its food supplies.“Ready for your trip to space?” you ask your son and daughter. In 2005 only specially trained astronauts went into space and very few of them. Today anyone can go to space for day trips or longer vacations. Your best friend even works in space. Handing your children three strawberries each, you add, “The doctor said you need these for space travel. ” Thanks to medical advances, vaccination shots(防疫针)are a thing of the past. Ordinary foods contain specific vaccines. With the berries in their mouths, the kids head for the front door. It’s time for you to go to work. Your car checks your fingerprints and unlocks the doors. “My office. Autopilot! ” you command. Your car drives itself down the road and moves smoothly into traffic on the highway. You sit back and unroll your e-newspaper. The latest news downloads and fills the viewer. Looking through the pages, you watch the news as video films rather than read it.1.What changes the color of your shirt?A. The mirrorB. The medicineC. The counterD. By testing the food supplies in the kitchen.D. By listening to the doctor's advice.3.The strawberries the children eat serve as_________.A. vaccinesB. lunchC. breakfastD. nutrition4. How is the text organized?A. In order of preferenceB. In order of appearanceC. In order of timeD. In order of importanceBCanada---The True North"'In 1867 when Canada was created, a towering Silver Maple tree standing in front of Alexander Muir's house in Toronto gave him an idea. He would write a poem and a song about the great tree, so common in Canada and so symbolic, to celebrate Canada's Confederation(联邦).His song was called The Maple Leaf Forever and it has been the unofficial Canadian anthem(国歌) to this day.Last July during a major storm, the tree was knocked down. It fell across a house and a street. But because it was an important historic tree, most of the wood was saved rather than being destroyed.Recently woodworkers at The Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, a community projects centre, cut the wood into logs and other usable pieces. The pieces were given to artists to create about 150 different projects. One artist took a piece of tree. On it, he'll carve (雕刻) a series of historical Canadian scenes. Another wood carver is making beautiful round wooden bowls. Yet another made an interesting candlestick from the tree's branches.Other woodworkers are making wood wig stands(假发架)for cancer patients who lose their hair. Still others are taking small pieces of wood and making them into pens. And some of the wood was made into gavels (⼩⽊槌)to be used by Toronto' s city councilors(市议员).Some of the projects will be on public show while some will be personally owned. The people in Toronto who lived near the tree for years and tried to protect it from harm were very sad to see the old tree go. But they are glad to see that their maple tree will live forever in the hearts and homes of many people.5. Why did Alexander write The Maple Leaf Forever?A. To celebrate the birth of Canada.B. To express his love for the maple tree.C To go with his poem.D. To memorize the maple tree.6. Why was the wood of the tree kept by many people?A. The tree has practical value.B. They used it to honour Alexander Muir.C. They thought the tree was publicly owned.D. The tree was closely tied to Canadian history.7. What is the best title for the text?A. Maple Tree in TorontoB. Projects of Maple TreeC. Maple Tree Will Live ForeverD. A Fallen Maple Tree was savedCA bargain is something offered at a low and advantageous price. A more recent definition is: a bargain is a dirty trick to force money out of the pockets of silly and innocent people. The cost of producing a new, for example, toothpaste would make80pence the proper price for it, so we will market it at £1.20. It is not a bad toothpaste, and as people like to try new things, itwill sell well to start with; but the attraction of novelty soon fades, so sales will fall. When that happens we will reduce the price to £1.15. And we will turn it into a bargain by printing 5pence OFF all over it.Sometimes it is not 5pence OFF but 1pence OFF. What breathtaking rudeness to advertise 1pence OFF your soap or washing powder or whatever! Even the poorest old-age pensioner ought to regard this as an insult (侮辱), but he doesn’t. A bargain must not be missed. People say one has to have washing powder (or whatever) and one might as well buy it a penny cheaper. The real danger starts when unnecessary things become ‘bargains’. Many people justcannot resist bargains. Provided they think they are getting a bargain they will buy clothes they will never wear or furniture they have no space for. Once I heard of a man who bought an electric saw (电锯) as a bargain and cut off two of his fingers the next day. But he had no regrets: the saw had been truly cheap.Quite a few people actually believe that they make money on such bargains. A lady once told me: “I’ve had a lucky day today.I bought a dress for £120, reduced from £400; and I bought a beautiful Persian carpet for £600, reduced from £900.” It will never occur to her that she has ac tually wasted £720. She feels as though she had made £580. She also feels, I am sure, that if she had more time for shopping, she could make a living out of it. Some people buy in large quantities because it is cheaper. Once a couple bought enough sugar for their lifetime and the lifetime of their children and grandchildren. They thought it a bargain not to be missed. When the sugar arrived they didn’t know where to store it –– until they realized that their toilet was a very spacious one. So that was where they piled up their sugar. Not only did their guests feel rather strange whenever they were offered sugar to put into their coffee, but the toilet became extremely sticky. To offer bargains is a commercial trick to make the poor poorer. When greedy fools fall for this trick, it serves them right.8. Which word best describes the language style of the passage?A. polite.B. foolish.C. serious.D. humorous.9. How does the author feel about 1pence OFF a product?A. It’s a gift for poor people.B. It’s an insult to shoppers.C. It’s a bargain worth trying.D. It’s a real reduction in price.10. Which statement will the author probably agree with?A. Bargains are things people don’t really need.B. Bargains are often really cheap products.C. Bargains help people make a living.D. Bargains play tricks on people.七选五(每⼩题2分,共10分)Taking good notes is a time-saving skill that will help you to become a better student in several ways 11 . I had the opportunity to spend the day with them seeing the various sights and attractions. One thing that my grandsons had really wanted to do that particular day was to climb to the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain isn't a particularly tall mountain and fortunately has walking trails to the top, but for two 5-year-olds, along with Grandpa,it's a formidable task.Since my grandsons' enthusiasm was much greater than mine,I decided to start the slow walk up the mountain. The beginning part of the trail was slow and gradual. It seemed like we were taking forever to climb just a short distance, but I had to remind myself that it took 3 of their steps to equal1 of mine,so I found myself walking ahead of them, then having to stop and let them catch up,over and over again.I was tired and sweaty, just wanting to get to the top of the mountain so I could rest well before starting my way back. Climbing the mountain was a trial to me but my grandsons were not focused at all on the trial of climbing the mountain; they were simply enjoying the journey of the walk.I know when I face a trial in life,I tend to always think of the problem. I want the trial to be over quickly and let life get back to normal. What can I learn during the course of trial? At some point, the trial will be over and we'll be joyousfor sure. Old as the writer was,he walked much faster than his grandsons.C. Learning to enjoy the journeyBHoney(蜂蜜)from the African forest is not only a kind of natural sugar,it is also delicious. So,when it finds a suitable nest,it looks for someone to help it. The honey guide gives a loud cry that attracts the attention of both passing animals and people. Once it has their attention,it flies through the forest, waiting from time to time for the curious animal or person as it leads them to the nest. When they finally arrive at the nest, the follower reaches in to get at the delicious honey as。
