英文电影赏析作文
英文电影赏析作文英文:As a movie enthusiast, I have watched countless English movies and enjoyed them immensely. In my opinion, a good movie should not only have a well-crafted plot, but also an excellent cast and crew to bring the story to life. Here are some of my favorite English movies and why I love them.Firstly, I would like to recommend "The Shawshank Redemption". This movie is a classic that has stood thetest of time. The story follows the life of Andy Dufresne, a banker who is wrongly convicted of murder and sent to Shawshank State Penitentiary. The movie explores themes such as hope, friendship, and redemption. The performances of the actors, especially Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, are outstanding. The dialogue is also memorable, with lines such as "Get busy living, or get busy dying" becoming iconic.Another movie that I highly recommend is "The Dark Knight". This movie is a masterpiece in the superhero genre. The story is dark and complex, with a villain, the Joker, who is both terrifying and fascinating. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is legendary and won him a posthumous Oscar. The action scenes are also top-notch,with the iconic chase scene between Batman and the Joker being a standout moment.Lastly, I would like to mention "Forrest Gump". This movie is a heartwarming tale of a simple man who manages to achieve great things despite his limitations. Tom Hanks gives a brilliant performance as Forrest, and the movie has many memorable moments, such as the scene where Forrestruns across the country. The soundtrack is also fantastic, with songs such as "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Fortunate Son" perfectly capturing the spirit of the era.Overall, these movies are just a few examples of the many great English movies out there. Each movie has its own unique strengths and appeals to different audiences. As a movie lover, I am always on the lookout for new movies towatch and enjoy.

The analysis of film—The Truman Show The Truman Show is a comedy film. It is a film within a film. The following is the cinematic analysis in three aspects: character, narrative and critical perspective.1.Characters and performanceCast Design in The Truman ShowCharacterization in films is sometimes novelistic, in the sense that novels typically seek to convey depth and intricacy of characters. In The Truman Show, Truman Burbank is the protagonist who is a happily married insurance salesman living in a normal life in a small town named Seahaven Island. But Truman still pursues his first love—Sylvia. It is in conflict between the two situations. Conflict is that which causes problems for the character in the pursuit of his goal.In essence, the engine driving character development and the “transformational arc” come from the change that occurs within a character when his intentions are confronted with an obstacle and he must adapt to deal effectively with it. The outer motivation (what the character wants to achieve) plus the outer conflict (conflict against external forces), develop the new abilities of protagonist in the face of challenge. Many different factors block Truman to go to Fiji to find Sylvia, on the contrary, Truman has stronger desire to get out off Seahaven Island and find the truth of obstacle. He lives up to his name Truman (true), at the end of the film, he risks his neck to conquer the storm which is mad e up and then, go out. Truman often says “In case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.”This hints Truman is a man breaks the normal procedure, so the outcome doesn’t come as a surprise—Truman breaks away from the Christof’s contro lling.Meryl, Truman’s wife, seems virtuous. Everyday she goes to hospital for her work—nursing. When she comes back, she always brings new products back, and then she introduces them with a way for the promotion of the product. Meryl is a professional actress but not a good wife. Shedoesn’t love Truman but married with Truman. In the wedding, she crosses her fingers for luck. Because the actress does not present herself but instead represents the character she is play, so the style that downplays the reality of the actress has been called the “representational style”. She repeats all words from memory, not the true words from her heart. Meryl successfully reveals her motivation—through “character-in-action”.Sylvia, Truman’s first love, is an unusual lady. The first appearance on the scene, she was named as Lauren (her performing name). Sylvia sympathizes with Truman and makes an attempt to tell Truman that everyone knows about him, everyone is pretending, everything is faked for him. Her motivation is exposing the deception for rescuing Truman. She criticizes Christof is a liar and a manipulator. What he has done to Truman is sick. Her performance style that emphasizes the reality of the actress has been called the “presentational style”because Sylvia presents herself to the audience as herself in the show. It conversely compares with Meryl. But Sylvia’s power is too tiny to rouse Truman to believe her words. Due to the appearance of Sylvia, the whole film seems more illuminating.Christof, the producer of this show, a very important man inthe film, regard himself as the god. Everything around is under his controlling and monitoring. He controls Truman in his sphere of influence for 30 years which attribute to “We accept the reality of the world with which w e are presented”. Christof seems to be the creator of Truman, nevertheless, without Truman, Christof is nothing. Christof model himself as Truman’s father, a father would not let his child in a sick world. He deems it there’s no more truth out there then there is in the world he created for Truman.2. Narrative:MomentumFrom the beginning of the film, Truman wants to leave for Fiji to find a girl named Sylvia. Why does he look for this girl? That leaves us suspense. The suspense is that the audience will experience suspense if they are uncertain of the outcome of an event. To produce this uncertainty, scriptwriters and directors will commonly present a character with a strong intention and then lay significant difficulties in his way, which will lead to uncertainty concerning the outcome. Also, suspense is one of devices scriptwriters and directors employ to generate momentum in the films.Momentum is the forward movement necessary for the audience to maintain its interest in the narrative—put simply, momentum is what keeps us watching.Furthermore, there always has a camera aim at Truman, which would puzzle audiences very much and arouses me to maintain interest in the overall process, not let go out off any details. In that way they would become fully involved in the drama. Especially when Truman sails to escape, but Christof would not let him go. So many produced storms stop Truman, the audiences tense their nerve as Truman’s, as if themselves sink into the danger. Their momentum is that they want to know the ending of Truman and eagerly to know whether Truman could get rid of the island. Consequently, the box office revenue grows. More and more audiences pay their attention to the show. All the audiences doubt if Truman could escape from it, their eyes staring at Truman. This is what scriptwriters and directors expect plot to progress.3. Critical PerspectivesPsychoanalysis and the spectatorPsychoanalysis is the theory of personality developed by Sigmund Freud that focuses on the dynamic interaction of different forces (conscious and unconscious) of the psyche. It is based on the concepts of the unconscious, repression, and the division of the psyche into the id, ego, and superego. In the most primitive form, psychoanalytic interpretations of art attempt to analyze the psyche of the director. Christof calls himself as the Creator. Even his name sounds like Christ. He arranges Truman’s life in a fictional way other than he considers it as the normal life. Christof keeps watch on Truman even wants to contro l Truman’s life. Not until he sees Truman immobilize on the boat does Christof stop the storm. Maybe, it’s people’s desire for control. It’s psychological desire. Christof’s egoism brings up the non-freedom of Truman. He treats Truman’s life as a game, a mockery. The show of director—Christof, his venal psychology makes him use up all means to keep Truman in Seahaven Island. The people in the island, who are the most apathetic and insensitive spectator, pay close attention to Truman’s matters around the clock in order to satisfy their deep desire to peer. Theshow’s popularity is its straightforward voyeurism. This kind of psychology—just like Sylvia’criticism on the show—is sick. A group of psychopathic people are immersed in the sick world.。

The camera panned to a man, standing alone on a deserted street corner. He looked lost, his face a mask of confusion and despair. His eyes were filled with pain, asif he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. In a dimly lit room, a woman sat hunched over a typewriter, her fingers flying across the keys. The room was cluttered with papers and empty coffee cups, a reflection of her chaotic mind. She was a writer, struggling to find the right words to express her innermost thoughts and feelings. Each keystroke was a battle, a desperate attempt to make sense of the world.A group of friends gathered around a table in a crowded cafe, their laughter filling the air. They were carefree, living in the moment, oblivious to the troubles of the outside world. They talked and joked, their voices blending together in a symphony of friendship. The wind whipped through his hair, a symbol of the freedom he longed for.In a courtroom, a lawyer paced back and forth, hisvoice filled with conviction. Among them, the dream and responsibility are the two very important things in The Pursuit of Happyness. One has a dream; he will have inexhaustible strength to fight for it. For Gardner, dream gives him hope---the hope of having a smiling face one day in the future. The hope gives him infinite driving forces to overcome the challenges in his life. Responsibility is the other factor. Family means everything for Gardner; even though his wife leaves him, his son or his responsibility for his son is one of the resources of his happiness.Key words: happiness;dream;responsibility.ContentsAbstract (i)I. Introduction (1)II. Dream and responsibility (2)2.1 Dream ----one of the resources for happiness (2)2.2 Responsibility----the other resource for happiness (5)III. Conclusion (29)The Pursuit of HappynessI. IntroductionIn 1981 San Francisco, Chris Gardner invested all his money in portable bone-density scanners which could make him, he thought, a big fortune. However, he could hardly sell one within a week, so his family was trapped in a poverty-stricken situation. Then Gardner’s wife couldn’t bear the bitter life anymore and went to New York. With the concerning of incapability of being a single mother, she agreed that their son, Christopher would remain with his father. While trying to sell one of the scanners in downtown, Gardner met Jay Thistle, a manager for Dean Witter and impressed by Gardner’s ability organizing the Rubik’s Cube during a short taxi ride. Chris found that he didn’t have enough money to pay the taxi driver when he was going to get off the taxi, so he escaped, resulting in the taxi driver chasing him into a subway station. In moment of fluster, Chris lost one of his bone scanners. Then, because of the impression carved in Jay’s mind, Chris earned a chance to be an intern stockbroker. For all that Chris arrived at the office for interview in a unkempt and shabby dress, for he was arrested because of the previously unpaid parking tickets and before that he was painting the landlord’s house as some replacement of the rent, he was offered the internship. While his life was becoming better and better, he was informed that his bank account was garnished by the IRS for unpaid income taxes. Chris became broke and less than thirsty dollars was left in his bank account. As a result, Chris and his son were homeless and had to stay in a restroom at a subway station.Hardship drove him to find the Glide Memorial United Methodist Church, which provided a homeless shelter for single mothers and their children. Thus, church’s ownerdidn’t allow Gardner stay there and Chris would not agree to leave his son there. At last the owner told him another local church, which also provided shelter, but had limited space. Due to the limited rooms, Chris worked very hard in order to finish his work earlier to land a place in line. Several days later, Chris found the bone scanner that he lost in the subway station, and the machine was damaged, but Chris repaired it and sold it.Knowing that the client contacts and profits was the only way to earn the one paid position, which twenty people were fighting for, Chris worked very hard and found some ways to make phone calls more efficiently. Regardless of all these difficulties, one day Chris was told that he won the coveted full-time position. He was so excited that he rushed to his son’s daycare and hugged him. At last, Chris became a very successful man and formed his multi-million dollars brokerage firm.II. Dream and Responsibility.2.1 Dream-one of the resources for happiness.Wherever is the dream, there is the hope, driving force, or the persistence. When Chris saw the all the people on the street were so damn happy, he made up his mind that one day he would be as happy as the people on the street---his dream, even it was not worth mentioning. For all that he couldn’t sell a scanner the whole day; for the “happiness” of his family, he still adhered to get up very early every morning to reach the potential buyers’offices before them in order to have a chance to sell his scanners. After his wife went to New York, and he got nowhere to go, he still persisted in working hard. In order to save money, they had to rent a very remote place; as a result, they had to cross the whole city by bus to get home, but he told his son that one day we would be able to have a happy life. Life was tough, but he told his son that:” you have a dream, you got to protect it.” When he got a job as an intern stockbroker without salary during the internship, and he had to be at the risk of being eliminated because only one of the twenty people could get the job, he took the chance for the hope of future happiness. Because of not receiving the rent, the landlord got Chris’ things out of house. Once more he had nowhere to go. Then, Chris went to the subway station with his son, sitting on the bench, facing each other in silence, and later playing a game that was not fun at all: at last, they stayed at a restroom for a night and when a guy knocked the door of the restroom, Chris sobbed, for he had no courage to let people know he and his son slept at a restroom for a night. However, the next morning, he went to work regularly and picked up his son on time and then queued before the church. In order to be employed by the company, he ate with book, slept with book, and when there was no light for him to read book at night, he got up very early to read book by the faint morning sunshine. It was his dream that gave him the strong persistence to never give up and it was the persistence that gave him the strength to struggle for his future happiness2.1 Responsibility-the other resource for happiness. When Chris knew that his wife was going to leave him with taking his son, he begged her leave their little son with him because he promised his son that he would never leave him and he thought that it’s his responsibility to take care his son even though he could hardly earn his own bread. Whenhis son felt depressed on account of not having gift in basketball, Chris told his son that: “you want something; go get it. People can’t do something by themselves, and they want to tell you that you cannot do it, so don’t let anyone tell you can’t do something, not even me.” When he realized that his son wasn’t educated well in the daycare, he tried his best to negotiate with the owner as he wanted to have a good upbringing for his son, though he didn’t succeed. When they entered a church, which only received single mothers and their children, the owner promised to provide a room for his son and Chris had to find other place to leave, but Chris refused for he couldn’t let his son alone. During the internship, despite the fact that he was rather tired after whole day’s work, he spared on efforts to take after his son, picking up him, feeding him, bathing him, and coaxing him to sleep. When they were not to have a single penny left on, in order to not let his son suffer the hunger, Chris sold his blood to make some bread. When Chris stayed at the station homelessly with his son, for drawing his son’s attention away from the predicament, he lied to his son that the scanner was a time machine and then played the game that they thought it was interesting while in sooth it was very boring. When Christopher asked him whether mom left because of him, Chris told him strongly that mom left because of mom, and there was nothing to do with him.Responsibility was a meaningful word at that time. Responsibility meant Chris never let his son feel alone, inferior, or self-condemned; responsibility meant that Chris tried his best to provide a better life, a better future for his son; responsibility meant that however tired Chris was, he could still took his son carefully. Without responsibility for his son, I suppose, Chris would never feel happy.III. Conclusion. To gain happiness is very difficult, because we don’t know where we should begin to pursuit it. However, to gain happiness is also very simple---do what you should do. You have a dream; go get it and protect it, and then undertake responsibility that belongs to you.。
