(一)The other day I was travelling to San Antonio by train to visit my sister. The train was a little crowded and there was a young man sitting next to the window. Since it was a hot day, I wanted that window seat more than anything else at that time As a young lady, I thought the young man would give me the seat if I asked him. So I smiled at him and asked whether he could give up his seat and take another one. To my surprise, he said that he needed that seat and refused my request. I had no choice but to take the seat next to him.The train was crossing station after station .The weather was so hot that the scenery(风景) outside the window could not attract my interest I had nothing to do, so I started to focus my attention on the young man and stare at him up and down. He wore a blue shirt and there was a shawl(披巾) on his legs. He did not even rise from his seat once, which made me feel a little bit strange. Moreover, only a madman would use a shawl in such hot weather, I thought. After the five-hour long journey, the train arrived at the final stop. I picked up my bag and stood up, waiting for the door to open. I gave aneglectful (不经意的) look at the young man and asked, “The train has arrived at the final station. Are you not getting off?" Hearing my words, he began to smile at me and said in a calm voice, "Someone has to come for me and take me off the train because I can’t do it by myself. "I gave my full attention to his legs, only to find there was nothing under that shawl!Paragraph 1:The man was a disabled person.______________________________ ___________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________ paragraph 2After hearing his story, I could not meet his eyes any more.______________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________参考答案:Paragraph1:The man was a disabled person. Both of his legs were gone. I couldn't believe what I saw and didn't know how to ease my embarrassment. Seeing the surprised expression on my face, the young man explained, “I lost both of my legs in a car accident three years ago. I' m a medical student and went to pay a visit to my parents and now I am returning to school. One of my classmates will come to pick me up.Paragraph 2After hearing his story, I could not meet his eyes anymore! I wished I could disappear in front of him at that moment. I didn't get off the train until his classmate walked to his seat and picked him up. How could I have such a strange idea about a person without knowing him? I realized it's always necessary to understand the truth behind someone’s words or actions. I have given up my wrong opinions about others without thinking since then.(二)Rain is pouring down today, which brings back sweet memories of our dog, Bambi. She joined our family at the age of four months. Like all puppies, she was full of energy and wonder. Our boys described excitedly that she looked just like the young deer, Bambi, in the movie they had watched recently. The name fitted her personality perfectly.Bambi also had all the fine physical characteristics of the German Shepherd. She was strong, yet gentle and shy. We were a young family with two growing, energetic boys, so she fitted right in with our lifestyle. Bambi loved the boys. She would play with them until they were completely tired .When Bambi was almost two years old, a full-grown dog, she became quite protective of us. She never failed to watch the boys. If any stranger entered our yard, she d watch him or her with sharp eyes and let out a lowbark. Even though Bambi had this protective instinct(本能), she never hurt anyone. Nevertheless, she did manage to frighten(惊吓) away many welcome and unwelcome guests. On one occasion, I had called a repairman to come to our home to fix the refrigerator. I was at work, and the boys were home with the babysitter I told the repairman by phone that we had a dog, but it would be safe to enter the house because the babysitter would be there to meet him. However when the repairman arrived, the babysitter and boys went outside. As he went close to our front door, Bambi was outside and she barked at him while she guarded the door. As long as the man attempted to move, Bambi would jump up and bark more fiercely(凶猛地)。

I demurred.I loved history.I did not love writing.I was a Cuban refugee, and English had been my nemesis from the moment I first shoved a chunky No. 2 pencil up and down the dashed lines of D’Nealian paper. My teacher knew my writing was cursory. And I knew that I lacked discipline. (What neither of us knew was that I was also dyslexic.)Writing was so excruciating that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic as an oral report — a one-act play, where I played all the parts. No one wheeze-laughed harder than he.So, why the sudden hectoring to do something at which I was sure to fail? His reply:“Because I love your stories. And if you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at this.”***Few things motivate a writer like a bit of shameless flattery.I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. The story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant notion, but funny; and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice. What did the horse think, as he ripped through the night, his coat sloughing sweat, his eyes wide with adrenaline? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to quit?I sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s fabled horse, I kept going.I worked hard. I checked my spelling. With a dictionary. I enlisted my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half-dozen books on Paul Revere from the library. I even read afew of them. When I handed in the finished essay, my teacher read it, laughed out loud, and said, “Great. Now, write it again. And no name. Entries are anonymous.”I wrote it again. And again and again. If I didn’t win, I didn’t care. I had poured a wobbly writer’s blood and sweat into something that made my teacher proud.【译文】在我上中学的时候,我的社会学老师鼓励我参加一个由我们家乡的一个组织主办的写作比赛。

One weekend in July, Jane and her husband, Tom, had driven three hours to camp overnight by a lake in the forest. Unfortunately ,on the way an unpleasant subject came up and they started to quarrel .By the time they reached the lake ,Jane was so angry that she said to Tom,“I’m going to fin d a better spot for us to camp”and walked away. With no path to follow ,Jane just walked on for quite a long time .After she had climbed to a high place ,she turned around ,hoping to see the lake .To her surprise ,she saw nothing but forest and ,far beyond ,a snow capped mountain top .She suddenly realized that she was lost.“Tom! ”she cried. “Help! ”No reply .If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag withTom .Jane kept moving ,but the farther she walked ,the more confused she became .As night was beginning to fall ,Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the night .Lying awake in the dark ,Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family .She wanted to hold him and tell him how much she loved him.Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling(滴落)somewhere at a distance.Quickly she followed the sound to a stream. To her great joy,she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries.Never in her life had she tasted anythingbetter.Feeling stronger now,Jane began to walk along the stream and hope it would lead her to the lake.As she picked her way carefully along the stream,Jane hearda helicopter. Is that for me?Unfortunately, the trees made it impossible for读后续写,可以说是英语写作的“集大成者”,它包含了“写作”、“阅读”、“分析”、“创造”。
不过,所有故事都离不开六要素:“who, when, where, what, how, why”。
But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Immediately, an absolute darkness ruled the forest. Jane, exhausted and scared, lay down near a stone, missing her family at a distance. All the fantastic memory crowded in and she couldn’t help crying, “Hadn’t I quarreled with Tom, walked away and climbed to the high place, I wouldn’t be trapped in this awful place, confronted with the danger of dying.” Sheregretted with endless anxiety, and then became asleep with shining tears in her eyes.It was daybreak when Jane woke up. Weak as she was, she struggled to her feet, continuing searching for assistance. To her great joy,a helicopter was flying overhead again and again. Eager and excited, she flagged her yellow blouse and spared no effort to yell so as to attract others’ attention. Fortunately, she was eventually noticed and brought into the helicopter. There, she saw her husband, a man staring at her, wearing an expression of relief. As tightly as possible, she hugged him and was too thrilled to say anything. Besides, they agreed never to quarrel again, determining to live the life to the fullest.【点评】该篇作文在逻辑、语言方面做到了平衡、全面、出色。
在“Eager and excited, she flagged her yellow blouse...”
此外,“There, she saw her husband, a man staring at her, wearing an expression of relief.”
But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again.Clusters of stars decorated the vast sky, weakly shining in the moon-eclipsed darkness. Rages and apprehension calmed down and exhaustions came dominating Jane as she hopelessly fell down into the soft grass. The transparent stream sounded amusing and was no longer as infuriatedas the stream of her mind hours ago. She thought about Tom, memories flooding out as she closed her eyes and recalled the kindness of him. Regretfully, she fell asleep, flower singing adhering to her ears (flowers’ singing adhering to her ears). It was daybreak when Jane woke up. Sunshine embraced the forest plain, reflecting to bloom her yellow blouse to be an attractive “flower”. In her sleepy eyes, a helicopter was right in the sky. Wild with joy, she jumped up, grabbing the blouse and flourishing it while crying. The helicopter spotted her and began to land on the grass. “It’s Tom! I know he will, he will come!” A pair of astounded hand reached Jane’s cheek. “Where did you go? If something happened to you, I’ll always have it on my conscience.” They hugged more tightly. “I’m sorry.”
