A Little Thing
When I was a middle school student, my family operated a small store, selling diary necessities. Consequently, it came to a formula: I would take charge of the store every weekend. Then the story happened in one weekend.
I remembered it was a Sunday in spring. Catkins were flapping slightly to the wind. Flowers, such as peach blossom, were flourishing. Birds were chirping chirpily in the wire while dogs and cats were walking at random. For others, it might be a nice day. However, it was tragic for I should finish homework within that day, including the English essay, three pages of math paper, 800-word review and a diary which would be handed in. The worst thing was I lied to my parents that all of my homework had been done because I wanted to watch TV series yesterday. Thus they didn’t come to my aid. A succession of customers came to the store and some warn-heart people even talked to me about study or something else. With regret and anxiety, I looked over the store over homework.
“Jiaoyan, your younger brother fell into the well.” Someone shouted.
“what!” I screamed. Suddenly thousands of strange ideas struck me. Was he still in the well? Was he strong enough to overcome the cold water? What I could do for him? Nervously, I rushed out of the shop. To my surprise, my brother turned up. He was wet through. The sunshine showed a pale face with blank eyes, and blue lips. With water-drop dripping from his hair, he was trembling. When he saw me, he just stood like a sculpture. I could see tears in his eyes. My brother used to be an active boy. It was his style to sing songs when he walked alone after school. He would perform as a teacher and begged us to be his students. His smile was charming and his voice was comforting. However, I forgot all of these things at that moment. I even forgot he was just four years old.
“How can you do that? Why you are so naughty? Don’t you know it’s very dangerous?” I yelled to him.
“Sister, I just play with Xiaowen.” He said in a low voice.
“Play! Is there no pl ace to play else? Why you choose well? I have told you before. Do you forget?”
“No.” suddenly, he burst into cry.
“Cry! You just know cry. You are stupid. Why I have such a brother like you. My G od!” I cried out.
“I am not on purpose.” My brother said, cho king with sobs.
“You are so bad. I will not care for you. You make yourself wet. So you must have ability to dry yourself.” With those words, I left him.
When I returned to the shop, I calmed down. Then what I have said and what I have done called to my mind. I realized it was my fault. The unfinished homework was the punishment for my lie and laziness. And I could n’t express my anxiety and depression by hurting him. Besides, my brother was just four. The idea of fun was the nature of child. God! I was so cruel!
At last, I apologized to him and took him home. In order to comfort him, I brought him much tasty food. And he promised that he have forgiven me.
It has been seven years. My brother may forget, however, it often comes to my mind. Truly, we are on good terms. But I still feel regretful. It is a little thing, but I will remember it and try my best to be a good sister.。
