Singapore AirlineOverviewSingapore Airlines has a history of more than 60 years. It grew out of Malayan Airways which began operating scheduled flights between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in an Airspeed Consul plane in 1947. 26 years later, Malayan Airways, which was renamed MSA in 1963, split into two: Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines. It is from this moment on that Singapore Airlines commenced its independent operations. Beginning operation with 5 Boeing 707s and 5 Boeing 737s, it now has over 150 most advanced planes flying to 90 destinations over five continents. Series of prizes from international organizations are best proof for its quality of services.Regarded as one of the leading airlines in the world, Singapore Airlines has acquired fame for its safe and comfortable journeys. When mentioning service by Singapore Airlines, the first thing that comes to mind is the cuisine on the plane. The International Culinary Panel of Singapore Airlines, engages in designing dishes to cater for various needs on the plane, and is unique among all the airlines in the world. Moreover, with an average age of 5 years, Singapore Airlines has the world's youngest fleet in the air, which plays a crucial role in aviation safety. In the first half of the 2012-13 financial year, the SIA Group registered a profit before taxation of $231.7 million, a decline of $71 million (-30%)over the same period last year.Group operating profit increased $8 million (+6%) year-on-year to $142 million. This was contributed by the improvement from the first quarter (+$61 million), albeit off a low base following the Japanese earthquake in the corresponding quarter last year. However, the $61 million increase was partially offset by a weaker second quarter (-$53 million), with the widening of losses from SIA Cargo as the air freight market remained soft.Group revenue grew $294 million (+4%) to $7,571 million, on the back of 8.0% growth in passenger carriage, partially set off by a 3.4% decline in yields.Group expenditure rose by $286 million (+4%) to $7,429 million, principally on account of higher fuel cost (+$112 million, or +4%), arising from higher fuel volume uplift as capacity grew 5.1%. Other variable costs also increased in line with the capacity growth. At the end of September, 2012, SIA’s assets totaled about S$ 22 billion, and debts totaled about S$ 1 billion. The SIA’s share price closes at 10.74 on 28 September 2012.

卡塔尔航空已经喝了头口水,直接把【World’s 5-Star Airline】变成了自己的slogan,同时也描述自己体贴入微的服务:【Taking You More Personally】。
【Great Service. Great People. Great Fares】。
【To the heart of Seoul and beyond】体现的是其作为韩国航空公司的地位与气质。
新航的【A great way to fly】与翠鸟航空的【Fly the Good Times】也都在强调优质空中体验。

History
• • • • • • Singapore Airlines’ history can be traced back to 1 May 1947. More new aircraft were added to the fleet in the 1950s and 1960s, the period leading up to the jet age. The 1970s got underway with a bang: on 2 June 1971, MSA’s first transcontinental flight took off for London. In 1972, MSA split to become two new entities – Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airline System. In 1989, Singapore Airlines became the first airline to operate a B747 on a commercial flight across the Pacific. In September 1998, Singapore Airlines set new standards in air travel by unveiling a new suite of products and services worth $500 million across all three classes of travel, offering customers enhanced standards of service on the ground and new levels of comfort, cuisine and entertainment in the air. In May 2008, Singapore Airlines created history again by being the first carrier to operate an all-Business Class service between Asia and the USA with its launch of all-Business Class non-stop flights from Singapore to New York.
