英语学科核心素养包括语言能力、思维品质、文化意识和学习能力四个方面。
《普通高中英语课程标准（实验稿）》（以下简称《课程标准》）在八级技能目标中对学生写作提出了具体要求：能根据所读文章进行转述或写摘要；能根据文字及图表提供的信息写短文或报告；能写出语意连贯且结构完整的短文，叙述事情或表达观点和态度（教育部 2003）。
笔者在长期的教学实践中发现，在英语写作教学中采用读写结合、以读促写的方法对提高学生的学习效率，培养学生的思维品质有极大的促进作用。
思维品质是指人的思维个性特征，反映个体在思维的逻辑性、批判性、创造性等方面的表达水平和特点（李爱云 2017），它是衡量个体思维发展水平的重要指标。
高中英语写作教学中要大力培养的思维品质主要包括以下五个方面：思维的深刻性集中表现在学生能否把握和总结不同类型写作的本质和规律，从而进行深入的思考和批判。
具有批判性思维的学生在写作中能够运用恰当的评价标准进行积极地、创造性地思考，从而在有充分根据的前提下作出判断。
