February 14 is Valentine's Day.It is celebrated as a lovers' holiday today,with the giving of candy,flowers,or other gifts between couples in love.Valentine's Day has roots in several different legends that have found their way to us through the ages. In Rome it's said that it originated in 5th Century as a tribute to St.Valentine ,a Catholic bishop. For 800 years prior to the establishment of Valentine's Day,the Romans had practiced a pagan celebration in mid-February commemorating young men's rite of passage to the god Lupercus.The celebration featured a lottery in which young men would draw the names of teenage girls from a box.The girl assigned to each young man in that manner would be his female companion during the remaining year.

April Fool's Day is a fun festival celebrated on April 1st. Unlike most of the other holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. April Fool's Day now has developed into an international fun festival, to speak, with different nationalities specializing in their own brand of humor, to their friends and families.
Easter
Easter is the principal festival of the Christian church year which celebrates the Resurrection (复活) of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ on the third day after his Crucifixion (钉 死在十字架).It is usually celebrated on the first Sunday with a round moon after March 21st. And Easter this year was celebrated on March 31st.
Trick-or-treating is a trick often played on Halloween. Groups of children knock at the door of the house and say “Trick or treat”. And the hostess will supply them with candies. Jack-o-lantern is a kind of pumpkin light. People cut faces on it and put lights in it. And the haunted houses filled with scary things are also very exciting.
Christmas is both a holiday and a holy day. In America. It is the biggest event of the year (especially for kids), and for members of the Christian religions, it is an important day on the religious calendar. The governments, all schools, colleges and the bosses of companies in America give employees one or two days off at Christmas, making it an important holiday。 In the calendar, Christmas is one of six holy feast days celebrated in America.

Halloween, which was once a frightening and superstitious time of year, is celebrated with trick-or-treating,jack-olanterns,haunted houses, costume parties, and fun for all ages.
Tricks and jokes performed on April fool's day are sometimes arranged carefully and secretly beforehand. For instance, saying, "your shoes are untied!" Or setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour are common ones. Whatever the trick is, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April fool!" April fool's day is a "for-fun-only" holidaool. It's simply a little fun holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever carefully and cautiously, for he may be the next April fool!

The history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before. The Christmas tree, the stockings, the wreathes, Santa Claus and nice gifts. The day of Christmas is December 25th, and the day before it is called the Christmas Eve.
