At night, we would have bonfires on the beach and roast marshmallows. The bright moon reflected on the gently rolling waves. It was so peaceful and beautiful.On the fourth day, we went deep sea fishing off the coast. My dad is really into fishing so he was super excited. We had to wake up at 4am! The boat started really rocking once we got far out into the ocean. I got a little seasick but my mom gave me some ginger ale which helped. We used crazy looking lures andbait to try to catch fish like tuna, mahi mahi, and marlin. I caught a 30 pound tuna after fighting it for almost an hour! My arms were incredibly sore but I was so proud. We had it for dinner that night after the captain fileted and grilled it with lemon and herbs. It was delicious!Another awesome experience was going tubing down the local river. My uncle has a motorboat, so he pulled us along while we bounced over the rapids and whitewater. The water was freezing cold but so refreshing on a scorching summer day. At one point, my cousin Johnny fell off and the tube ran over him! He was totally fine though and thought it was hilarious. We had a cooler in the boat stocked with ice cold drinks and snacks. Tubing really worked up my appetite!Towards the end of summer, we went camping for a few nights deep in the mountains. We hiked a couple miles from the parking area to our campsite beside a beautiful alpine lake. The views of the rocky, snow-capped peaks were just breathtaking. We went stargazing at night and I saw a meteor shower with dozens of shooting stars. Our tent was absolutely freezing overnight but thankfully we had warm sleeping bags.On the last day of summer, all my friends came over for an epic backyard waterslide party! We setup two huge tarp slides and used dish soap and the hose to get them super slick and fast. We would hurtle down headfirst and get launched into the air before landing in a big puddle at the bottom. It was crazy but so much fun. We had squirt gun wars, gobbled down popsicles, and played backyard baseball too. Summer always goes by much too fast!I had the time of my life this summer. I'm still smiling just thinking about all the incredible memories I made with my family and friends.
