1The Impact of Technology: Positive and NegativeTechnology has become an essential part of our daily lives, affecting almost every aspect of our existence. It has the power to bring positive changes and advancements, but also carries negative impacts that cannot be ignored. In this essay, I will discuss both the positive and negative effects that technology has on our society.First and foremost, the advancements in technology have revolutionized the way we communicate and interact with others. The internet, social media, and smartphones have made it easier for people to stay connected, share information, and collaborate on projects regardless of physical distance. This has created a more interconnected global community and has opened up new opportunities for education, business, and personal growth.Furthermore, technology has greatly improved our quality of life by providing us with better healthcare, transportation, and entertainment options. Medical breakthroughs, such asimproved diagnostic tools and treatments, have extended our life expectancy and improved our overall well-being. In terms of transportation, innovations like electric cars and ride-sharing apps have helped reduce carbon emissions and alleviate traffic congestion in cities. Additionally, technology has transformed the way we consume media and entertainment, making it more accessible and personalized to individual preferences. On the other hand, the widespread adoption of technology has also brought about several negative consequences. One of the biggest concerns is the impact of automation on the workforce, leading to widespread job displacement and income inequality. As machines and algorithms take over repetitive tasks, many workers are left without employment and struggle to find new opportunities in a rapidly changing economy. This has fueled concerns about the future of work and the need for retraining programs to prepare individuals for new jobs in the digital age. Moreover, the proliferation of technology has raised issues related to privacy, security, and ethical considerations. The constant collection of data by tech companies and governments has raised concerns about surveillance and the misuse of personal information. Cybersecurity threats, such as hacking anddata breaches, pose significant risks to individuals and organizations, leading to financial losses and reputational damage. The rise of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems has also raised ethical questions about the potential for biases, discrimination, and unintended consequences in decision-making processes. In conclusion, technology has both positive and negative impacts on our society, and it is essential to recognize and address both sides of the equation. While technology brings about significant advancements and improvements in our quality of life, it also carries risks and challenges that require careful consideration and regulation. By fostering a balance between innovation and responsibility, we can harness the benefits of technology while mitigating its negative consequences for a more sustainable and inclusive future.篇2The Impact of Technology: Positive and Negative EffectsTechnology plays a crucial role in shaping the world we live in today. From communication to transportation, from healthcare to education, technology has brought about numerous changes, both positive and negative. In this essay, wewill discuss the impact of technology on our society, focusing on the positive and negative effects it has had.Positive Effects:Firstly, technology has greatly improved communication. With the advent of the internet, people can now easily connect with others from all over the world. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have made it possible for people to stay in touch with friends and family, regardless of distance. In addition, advances in communication technology have also made it easier for businesses to reach out to their customers and clients, leading to increased productivity and efficiency.Secondly, technology has revolutionized the way we work. The use of computers, smartphones, and other devices has made it possible for people to work remotely, giving them more flexibility and freedom. This has led to a rise in freelancing and remote work opportunities, allowing people to balance their work and personal lives better.Thirdly, technology has had a significant impact on the healthcare industry. Medical advancements, such as robotic surgery and telemedicine, have made it possible for doctors to treat patients more effectively and efficiently. In addition, wearable devices and health apps have made it easier for people to track their fitness and monitor their health, leading to improved overall wellbeing.Negative Effects:Despite its many benefits, technology has also had its share of negative effects on society. One of the most significant drawbacks of technology is the impact it has had on our mental health. The constant use of smartphones and social media has been linked to an increase in anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation. In addition, the rise of cyberbullying and online harassment has also become a major concern.Another negative effect of technology is the impact it has had on the environment. The production and disposal of electronic devices contribute to e-waste, which is harmful to the environment. In addition, the reliance on fossil fuels to power our technology has led to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global warming and climate change.Lastly, technology has also had a negative impact on job security. Automation and artificial intelligence have led to the displacement of many jobs, particularly in industries such as manufacturing and retail. As machines become more efficientand cost-effective, many workers find themselves out of a job, leading to unemployment and economic instability. In conclusion, while technology has brought about many positive changes to our society, it is essential to be aware of its negative effects as well. By understanding the impact of technology on our lives, we can work towards harnessing its benefits while mitigating its drawbacks. It is crucial for us to strike a balance between embracing technology and taking care of our mental health, the environment, and job security. Only then can we truly maximize the potential of technology for the betterment of society.篇3The Positive and Negative Impacts of TechnologyTechnology has greatly impacted our lives in both positive and negative ways. In this essay, we will discuss the various aspects of how technology has influenced our society. On the positive side, technology has made our lives more convenient and efficient. With the introduction of smartphones and the internet, we are now able to access information instantly and communicate with people from all over the world with just afew clicks. This has made our world more interconnected and has opened up new opportunities for collaboration and innovation. Moreover, technology has transformed the way we work and do business. With the rise of automation and artificial intelligence, tasks that used to take hours or days can now be completed in a matter of seconds. This has led to increased productivity and profitability for companies, as well as greater job opportunities for skilled workers in the tech industry. In addition, technology has improved our quality of life in many ways. Medical advancements, such as robotic surgery and personalized medicine, have enabled doctors to provide better care for their patients and treat diseases more effectively. Furthermore, smart home devices and wearable technology have made it easier for us to monitor our health and stay fit. However, there are also negative impacts of technology that need to be addressed. One of the biggest concerns is the issue of privacy and security. With the amount of data that is being collected and shared online, there is a risk of our personal information being vulnerable to cyber attacks and misuse by unauthorized parties. This has raised concerns about the ethical implications of how companies handle our data and the need for stricter regulations to protect our privacy.Another downside of technology is the impact it has on our mental health. With the rise of social media and digital devices, many people are becoming addicted to their screens and spending excessive amounts of time online. This has been linked to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression, as well as a decline in the quality of our relationships with others. Moreover, technology has also had negative environmental impacts. The production and disposal of electronic devices contribute to e-waste, which pollutes our land and water sources. The energy consumption of data centers and servers also contributes to carbon emissions, which contribute to climate change. In conclusion, technology has brought many benefits to our society, but it also comes with challenges that need to be addressed. As we continue to advance in technology, it is important to consider the ethical, social, and environmental implications of our actions and strive to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.。

In an era where innovation and disruption are the driving forces behind economic growth and societal transformation, it is imperative to grasp the nuances of this notion and its far-reaching implications. At its core, the new productive forces refer to the emerging technologies, innovative processes, and novel ways of organizing production that have the potential to fundamentally reshape the way goods and services are created, distributed, and consumed. These forces are the catalysts for economic and social change, propelling us towards a future where traditional paradigms are challenged and new frontiers of productivity and efficiency are explored. One of the key components of the new productive forces is the rapid advancement of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing. These technologies have ushered in a new era of automation, data-driven decision-making, and interconnectivity that have revolutionized various industries and sectors. From manufacturing to healthcare, from logistics to entertainment, the integration of digital solutions has streamlined processes, optimized resource allocation, and opened up new avenues for innovation. However, the new productive forces extend beyond the realm of technology alone. They also encompass novel organizational structures, business models, and collaborative approaches that challenge the traditional hierarchical models of the past. The rise of the sharing economy, for instance, has disrupted conventional notions of ownership and access, enabling more efficient utilization of resources and fostering a sense of community and sustainability.Furthermore, the concept of the new productive forces is intrinsically linked to the pursuit of sustainability and environmental responsibility. As we grapple with the pressing challenges of climate change and resource depletion, the development and adoption of clean technologies, renewable energy sources, and circular economic models have become paramount. The new productive forces offer the promise of decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation, paving the way for a more sustainable and responsible approach to production and consumption. From a student's perspective, understanding the new productive forces is not merely an academic exercise but acritical step in preparing for the future. As we navigate an era of rapid change and disruption, it is imperative to cultivate a mindset of adaptability, lifelong learning, and critical thinking. The skills and knowledge required to thrive in this new landscape are vastly different from those of previous generations, and embracing the potential of the new productive forces is essential for securing a prosperous and fulfilling future. One of the challenges we face as students is the need to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. While our coursework may provide us with a solid foundation in the principles and concepts of economics, technology, and innovation, it is crucial to develop the ability to translate these insights into tangible solutions and real-world applications. This requires a multidisciplinary approach, fostering collaborations between diverse fields and encouraging hands-on experiential learning opportunities.Additionally, as future leaders and decision-makers, we must be cognizant of the ethical and social implications associated with the new productive forces. The rapid pace of technological advancement and economic disruption can potentially exacerbate existing inequalities, displace workers, and raise concerns about privacy, security, and autonomy. It is ourresponsibility to critically examine these issues and advocate for inclusive, equitable, and responsible approaches to innovation and progress.Ultimately, understanding the new productive forces is not merely an academic pursuit but a critical step in shaping the future we envision. As students, we have the opportunity toembrace the transformative potential of these forces while actively addressing the challenges and concerns that accompany them. By cultivating a spirit of curiosity, adaptability, and ethical responsibility, we can position ourselves as agents of positive change, contributing to the creation of a more prosperous, sustainable, and equitable world. As I reflect on my journey as a student, the concept of the new productive forces has become a lens through which I view the world around me. It has instilled in me a sense of excitement and anticipation for the possibilities that lie ahead, while also underscoring the importance of critical thinking and responsible decision-making. The future may be uncertain, but by understanding and harnessing the power of these forces, we can shape it in a way that aligns with our values, aspirations, and the greater good of society.篇2Discuss Your Understanding of New Productivity of QualityIn today's rapidly evolving world, the concept of productivity has undergone a significant transformation. The traditional focus on mere quantity and output has given way to a more holistic approach that prioritizes quality over sheer numbers. This paradigm shift has led to the emergence of a novel concept known as "New Productivity of Quality," which has revolutionized the way we perceive and measure success in various spheres of life.As a student, I have been exposed to this groundbreaking idea through my academic pursuits, and it has profoundly shaped my understanding of what it means to be truly productive. The New Productivity of Quality challenges theage-old notion that productivity is solely about churning out as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. Instead, it emphasizes the importance of creating value throughhigh-quality outputs that are not only efficient but also sustainable, purposeful, and impactful. At the core of this concept lies the recognition that true productivity is not merely about doing more but about doingbetter. It is about striking a delicate balance between quantity and quality, ensuring that our efforts yield meaningful and lasting results. In an academic context, this translates to producing work that is well-researched, insightful, and intellectually rigorous, rather than focusing solely on meeting arbitrary word counts or page requirements. The New Productivity of Quality also underscores the importance of personal growth and development. It encourages us to invest in our own skills, knowledge, and abilities, recognizing that true productivity stems from a deep understanding of our craft and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. As a student, this resonates with me deeply, as I constantly strive to expand my horizons, hone my critical thinking abilities, and develop a well-rounded perspective on the subjects I study. Moreover, the New Productivity of Quality emphasizes the need for collaboration and collective efforts. In today's interconnected world, no individual or organization can achieve greatness in isolation. By fostering an environment of cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support, we can tap into a wealth of diverse perspectives and expertise, ultimately enhancing the quality of our outputs and contributing to a more productive and innovative society. In my academic journey, I have witnessed the power of collaboration firsthand. Group projects, peer reviews, and intellectual discourse with classmates and professors have not only deepened my understanding of various subjects but have also challenged me to think critically, consider alternative viewpoints, and refine my ideas. This collaborative approach has undoubtedly elevated the quality of my work and prepared me for the challenges of the real world, where teamwork and collective intelligence are essential for success.Furthermore, the New Productivity of Quality encourages us to embrace sustainability and social responsibility. It recognizes that true productivity cannot be achieved at the expense of our planet or the well-being of our communities. As a student, I am acutely aware of the pressing environmental and social challenges we face, and I believe that our efforts should be geared towards creating solutions that not only drive economic growth but also promote environmental stewardship and social equity. In my studies, I have explored various concepts and theories that underscore the importance of sustainable practices andethical decision-making. From renewable energy technologies to socially responsible business models, I have gained a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of our world and the need to adopt a holistic approach to productivity that considers the long-term implications of our actions. As I look towards the future, the New Productivity of Quality will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping my career path and life choices. I aspire to be part of a generation that redefines success not merely in terms of financial gain or material wealth but through the lasting impact we can have on our communities, our planet, and the lives of those around us.In conclusion, the New Productivity of Quality represents a profound shift in our understanding of what it means to be truly productive. It challenges us to move beyond the narrow confines of sheer output and embrace a more comprehensive and purpose-driven approach to our endeavors. As a student, I am deeply inspired by this concept and its potential to transform not only the way we work but also the way we live, learn, and contribute to society. By embracing the principles of quality, collaboration, sustainability, and personal growth, we can unlock a world of limitless possibilities and create a legacy that resonates far beyond our individual achievements.篇3My Understanding of New Productivity QualitiesAs a student in today's rapidly evolving world, I have come to realize the importance of cultivating what is known as "new productivity qualities." These qualities go beyond the traditional notions of productivity and encompass a broader set of skills and mindsets that are crucial for success in the modern workplace and society. One of the core new productivity qualities is adaptability. The pace of change in our world is unprecedented, driven by technological advancements, globalization, and shifting societal norms. To thrive in such an environment, we must be able to quickly adapt to new situations, learn new skills, and embrace change as a constant companion. Rigidity and resistance to change will only hinder our growth and limit our potential.Another key quality is creativity and innovation. In a world where knowledge and information are readily available, the true value lies in our ability to synthesize that information in novel ways, generate original ideas, and find innovative solutions to complex problems. Creativity is not just a talent possessed by artists and musicians; it is a skill that can be nurtured and appliedin various domains, from business to science to social entrepreneurship.Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are also essential new productivity qualities. We live in an age of information overload, where we are bombarded with data from countless sources. The ability to analyze information critically, separate fact from fiction, and identify patterns and connections is crucial. Moreover, we must be adept at framing problems, considering multiple perspectives, and devising effective solutions that address the root causes rather than merely treating symptoms.Effective communication is another vital quality in the new productivity landscape. In a globalized world, we must be able to communicate effectively across cultures, disciplines, and mediums. This includes not only mastering written and verbal communication but also developing strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.Collaboration and teamwork are also paramount in today's interconnected world. Few endeavors can be accomplished in isolation, and the ability to work effectively in diverse teams, leverage collective intelligence, and navigate conflicts anddifferences is invaluable. Successful collaboration requires not only technical skills but also emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and a willingness to embrace diverse perspectives.Digital literacy and technological fluency are also emerging as essential new productivity qualities. As technology continues to permeate every aspect of our lives, we must be able to navigate digital spaces, leverage technological tools effectively, and adapt to new technologies as they emerge. This includes not only proficiency in using software and hardware but also an understanding of the underlying principles, ethical considerations, and potential impacts of technology. Finally, resilience and a growth mindset are critical qualities for navigating the challenges and uncertainties of the modern world. We must be able to bounce back from setbacks, embrace failures as learning opportunities, and maintain a positive and proactive attitude in the face of adversity. A growth mindset, which embraces lifelong learning and personal development, is essential for continuous improvement and staying relevant in a rapidly changing environment. As I reflect on these new productivity qualities, I am struck by their interconnectedness and the need to cultivate them holistically. They are not isolated skills or traits but rather acollective mindset and approach to life and work. Mastering one quality often reinforces and enhances the others, creating a virtuous cycle of personal and professional growth.Furthermore, these qualities are not merely desirable; they are becoming increasingly essential for success in the modern world. Employers, educators, and organizations are recognizing the importance of these "soft skills" and actively seeking individuals who possess them. Traditional measures of productivity, such as academic credentials or technical expertise, are no longer sufficient; they must be complemented by these new productivity qualities to truly thrive. As a student, I am actively working to develop and nurture these qualities within myself. I seek out opportunities to challenge my critical thinking skills, engage in collaborative projects, and expose myself to diverse perspectives. I strive to stay abreast of emerging technologies and embrace lifelong learning as a core value. I am also cultivating resilience and a growth mindset by learning from my failures, seeking feedback, and continuously pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. However, developing these new productivity qualities is not a solitary endeavor; it requires a supportive ecosystem and a collective effort. Educational institutions must adapt theircurricula and pedagogical approaches to foster these qualities in students. Workplaces must create environments that encourage innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Governments and policymakers must invest in initiatives that promote digital literacy, critical thinking, and cross-cultural competencies. In conclusion, the new productivity qualities are not mere buzzwords or passing fads; they are fundamental skillsets and mindsets that will shape our ability to navigate the complexities of the modern world. As a student, I recognize the importance of cultivating these qualities and embracing them as essential components of my personal and professional development. By doing so, I am not only preparing myself for success in the future but also contributing to the collective growth and progress of our society.。
1Environment protection is of utmost significance in today's world. The reckless exploitation of natural resources in some regions has brought about severe ecological damage. For instance, deforestation for extensive agriculture has led to the loss of habitats for numerous species of animals and plants, pushing them to the brink of extinction. Rivers have been polluted due to industrial waste discharge, affecting aquatic life and the quality of water resources. However, there are also inspiring success stories. Take a certain city as an example. By implementing a green travel policy, such as promoting the use of public transportation and bicycles, the air quality has significantly improved. People now enjoy fresher air and a healthier living environment. We must recognize that the earth is our home and we have the responsibility to protect it. Each of us should take practical actions, such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and planting more trees. Only through our collective efforts can we ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. We should not only focus on immediate interests but also consider the long-term well-being of our planet. Let's all join hands and work towards a greener and more beautiful world.2Environmental protection is of paramount importance in today's world. It is not just a matter of concern but a responsibility that each one of us must undertake. The negative impact of human activities on the environment is undeniable. Take, for instance, the factories that illegally discharge sewage, causing severe pollution to rivers. These actions not only harm the aquatic life but also pose a threat to the entire ecosystem. The once clear and vibrant rivers have now turned murky and lifeless, a stark reminder of our irresponsible behavior. On the other hand, there are individuals who make significant contributions to environmental protection through small yet meaningful actions in their daily lives. For example, those who diligently sort their garbage are playing an essential role. By separating recyclable materials from non-recyclables, they are reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and promoting the reuse and recycling of resources. We should all realize that protecting the environment is not someone else's job; it is ours. We need to change our habits and behaviors. We can start by conserving energy, reducing the use of plastic, and planting more trees. Every small step counts and together, these steps can lead to a significant positive change.Let us come together and take active actions to protect ourenvironment. Only by doing so can we ensure a sustainable and beautiful future for generations to come.3Environment protection is of utmost significance for the future of humanity. The relationship between protecting the environment and our development is inseparable and profound.Take the deforestation as an example. Large areas of forests have been cut down, leading to severe soil erosion. This not only damages the ecological balance but also adversely affects agricultural production. The loss of fertile soil makes it difficult to grow sufficient crops to meet the needs of the growing population, threatening food security.Meanwhile, numerous scientists have been dedicating their efforts to researching environmental protection solutions. They conduct in-depth studies and experiments, exploring ways to reduce pollution, conserve energy, and restore ecosystems. Their hard work and perseverance are the driving forces for us to move towards a sustainable future. We must recognize that environmental protection is not just a matter of the present but a key factor determining the well-being and survival of future generations. Only by taking active and effective measures to protect the environment can we ensure a bright and sustainable future for mankind. We should all take responsibility and make contributions to this great cause. Let us join hands and work together to create a better world for ourselvesand our descendants.4Environmental protection is an issue of paramount importance in today's world. The challenges we face in safeguarding our environment are numerous and complex. Take plastic pollution in the oceans, for instance. It has reached alarming levels, threatening the lives of countless marine creatures and the entire marine ecosystem. Plastics do not decompose easily, persisting in the environment for decades or even centuries, causing long-term damage. Some countries have taken proactive measures by enacting strict legislation to combat environmental degradation. Such laws impose penalties on industries that violate environmental standards and encourage the development and use of eco-friendly technologies. However, despite these efforts, much remains to be done. We, as individuals, also have a crucial role to play. We can reduce our consumption of single-use plastics, recycle as much as possible, and support businesses that prioritize environmental sustainability. Moreover, we need to raise awareness among our peers and communities about the importance of environmental protection. In conclusion, protecting the environment is not only the responsibility of governments and industries but also that of each and every one of us. Only through collective efforts and a change in our attitudes andbehaviors can we hope to overcome the challenges and ensure a sustainable future for our planet.5Environment protection is an issue of paramount significance that demands our urgent attention on a global scale. The implications of environmental degradation are far-reaching and have a profound impact on the very fabric of our existence.Take, for instance, the phenomenon of global climate change. It has wreaked havoc on ecosystems worldwide. Melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and extreme weather conditions are just a few of the manifestations. These alterations have disrupted the natural balance, threatening the survival of countless species and causing irreversible damage to delicate habitats.International organizations have also played a crucial role in driving environmental protection efforts. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), for example, has been at the forefront of coordinating global actions and formulating policies. It brings together nations to collaborate on issues such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable development, and conserving biodiversity. In conclusion, protecting the environment is not only an ethical imperative but also a matter of survival for humanity. We must all recognize the value of our natural world and take collective and individualactions to ensure its preservation for future generations. Only through such concerted efforts can we hope to safeguard the planet and ensure a sustainable and prosperous future.。
The research of relationship among organizational climate, workplaceloneliness and job satisfaction一、研究的缘由与意义1.1研究的缘由根据以往职业健康心理学的研究,工作场所中的消极情绪,会对员工个体及组织带来一系列负面的影响。

The Bridge Between an Ethical Climate and Job Satisfaction
Jeannie Ruggerio Macon State College,Macon,Georgia,USA
An organization has been described as a“…social unit with some particular purposes”.Appropriately focusing on
the vision of these particular purposes requires leadership and a professionalism that has the ability to create a climate that is ethical and ensures fairness. This leader is considered to be a steward f0r his or her organization and must act thoughtfully based on core values as a foundation in decision.making.A field that embraces the importance
of developing a thriving, productive ethical climate to increase job satisfaction is education, because student achievement is an important performance outcome. In this paper, the findings of an investigation will be presented
that discuss formal theories, quantitative data, and interviews with academic professionals from Georgia and New
Mexico regarding the usage of self-leadership to help develop a bridge that connects an ethical climate that is mora11v aware to an increase in job satisfaction, thereby, affecting performance outcomes.
Keywords."ethics,ethical climate,leadership,self-leadership
In the public sector, administrators are considered to be‘‘professional citizens’’;“they are fiduciaries who are employed by the citizenry to work on their behalf'’(Cooper,1 984).The manager’s obligations are derived from his or her citizenship;technical and knowledgeable expertises are compliments of the position:not the administrator’s identity(Cooper,1 984).It is important f0r the administrator to maintain a positive.influential relationship in which strong ethical values help serve as a foundation,in turn, helping to create a collective
vision f-or the organization. As a result.this collective vision will emerge an environment that is productive and healthy, thus, increasing job satisfaction. In turn, the employees will feel they are respected and not being used as mere instruments of efficiency for the organization.Cooper(1 984)stressed that“there is a need to be a
fiduciary and genuinely care about the employees and their needs”ifjob satisfaction is to be achieved. In addressing the needs of employees, managers must help develop an environment of honesty and a culture that exhibits leadership serving as a bridge between leading an organization and creating a productive, ethical climate that promotes job satisfaction. To accomplish this important task,a variety of leadershiD
approaches are used;some have been considered more effective than others depending on situational and departmental flexibility. In the following section, there are three comparative leadership styles explained;then the focused leadership style that promotes a cooperative ethical climate will be described。which is
self-leadership.
Leadership Before discussing the importance of self-leadership and its ability to serve as a bridge between an ethica1 climate and job satisfaction,it is important to explore leadership’s foundation.Leadership is grounded on the

, leadership, and ethics.E-maiI:Jeannie.rnggerio( maconstate.edu. 572 THE BRIDGE BETWEEN AN ETHICAL CLIMATE AND JOB SATISFACTION implementation of core-values.According to Getha—Taylor(2009),“Values serve as the foundmional essence of leadership”(as cited in Roswell&Berry,1 993).Values play an integral part in establishing leadership because, together, they form the starting point in having the ability to make thoughtful decisions. As a result,“leaders… will provide employees with an‘internal compass’that allows them to act out independently and responsibly’’ (as cited in Kauzes&Posner,1 993).In discussing ethical climates later in this paper,it will be important to note leaders help influence organizational standards and the collective vision(Getha—Taylor,2009).
Leadership Styles In combination, there are several types of leadership styles. Some leadership approaches are more favored over others. To understand the effectiveness of self-leadership’s positive influence on an ethical climate,a few different leadership styles will be discussed in order to provide a comparison to the importance of self-leadership. According to experts,an inflexible leadership style that may difficult to implement in an environment needing flexibility is the directive, commanding leadership style. The commanding leadership style is a traditional approach characterized by a positioned leader issuing a command, then conducting a follow-up in order to assess the result(as cited in Manz&Sims,1 99 1;Muczk&Reimarm,1 987).One may view this dictating leadership approach as a style in which there is a clear hierarchical structure, and commands are given and followed with little flexibility(Ruggerio,2009).The efficiency of the performance outcome is most important in the usage of this approach, not necessarily job satisfaction in accomplishing the task. Another leadership style that may be considered ineffective in the development of an ethical climate that promotes equity and flexibility is the pacesetting leadership style in which the organizational, ethical climate reflects one of promoting competition among departments. The effectiveness of the organization,as a whole,is not considered the main priority.Instead, the focus and principled goal is one of self-interest(Cullen&Victor, 2003).The resulting climate created, while using a pacesetting leadership style, may result in one of insecurity and isolation, because employees will routinely be concerned with the stability of his or her position based on performance against other departments, which does not build teamwork or a collective vision. A final leadership style to be discussed in comparison to self-leadership is transactional leadership. The transactional approach depends on a follower’s perception in considering the worth of the performance outcome as worthy to invest effort and time. This leadership style of transaction relies heavily on the perceived equity of the“effort-reward linkage”,which would not be conducive to a style that helps develop a col lective vision and job satisfaction, because the perceived outcome is a singular consideration, not collaborative(as cited in Pierce&Sims,2002).Consequently,if an employee does not feel the reward is worthy,he or she may not perform satisfactorily. In the following discussion, the formal theories of self-leadership will be explained, which will be the initial point of discussion on building a strong bridge between an equitable, ethical climate and job satisfaction. Self-Leadership Self-leadership is defined as‘‘a systematic set of strategies through which individuals influence themselves
