上海科技翻译 S hang ha i J ou rna l of T ransla tors f or S cience and T echnology 2004N o .2 [收稿日期]2003212215 [作者简介]陈明瑶(1962-),女,杭州商学院外国语学院教授,浙江大学硕导,研究方向:专门用途英语与实用翻译。 论商务口译技巧 陈明瑶 (杭州商学院外国语学院,浙江杭州310035) [摘要]随着中国加入W TO ,国际商务合作日趋频繁,口译量日益增大。商务口译是一门专业要求很高的职业。它不仅要 求译员有普通口译人员的基本技巧,还应该有商务常识,有扎实的笔记基本功,以及灵活的沟通斡旋能力。 [关键词]口译;技巧;商务;笔记[中图分类号]H 315.9 [文献标识码]B [文章编号]100026141(2004)022******* 商务口译是一门专业要求很高的职业。要成为一名优秀的商务口译译员,就必须有扎实的两种语言的功底。语言功底包括对原语和译语的熟练掌握,即对双语既能被动理解又能主动表达;既掌握双语的基本知识,又具有灵活运用双语的能力;既了解双语背后的文化,又具有跨文化沟通的斡旋能力。 一、基本技巧的综合运用 口译分连续口译和同声口译。商务口译绝大部分是连续口译。这是双边会谈的最常用的一种翻译方法。口译中我们会运用类似笔译那样的手段,如直译、意译、繁译、简译、句译、段译、节译、摘译、省译、删译、复译、补译等等。译员在具体口译活动中要善于综合运用各种手段。在这一点上,商务口译与普通口译是相通的。 商务口译,顾名思义,其范围限定在商务活动的翻译上。口译过程中尤其要注意具体情况具体对待。当遇到涉及数量、质量、产品性质、要求、功能、价格等方面的情况时,译员务必使用直译的方式。这种译法,强调原语的形式结构及表层意义,而不需顾及原语表面形式以外的任何意思。然而,商务活动并不是单一的数量和质量谈判。谈判双方为了使谈判顺利进展,项目尽早落实,往往需要表述一定的思想,隐含一定的倾向性意见,有的放矢;而另一方也需要及时给予反应,但又不失风度,不急于求成。因此,相对于直译来说,商务翻译中意译用得更多。意译,也就是将原话的表面形式完全抛弃而将所表达的深层意思重新组合后用译入语表达出来。该译法注重语言深层而非表层含义,更不拘泥于原话的语法结构、词的前后位置的对应、字的多少、句的长短等。意译涉及到思维机制的运行,是译者动态思维的结果。他通过借助记忆中存储的信息对语音、语法、言语结构进 行整合、联想和逻辑推理的过程,最后进行主动的表达。只有理解这一点,译者才有可能避免在口译过程中停留于语言符号的机械转换,避免听半句译半句、 听一句译一句的句译,或听几个词译几个词的(初级译者常见的)繁译。这样只会使谈判双方陷于只言片语,不知所云。译者的责任,除了协助交流,还应该促使交流尽可能顺利进行,如果发现某些谈判领导爱好用同义词、语速偏慢、重复偏多等现象,译者完全可以将其总结归纳,去除赘词,用简译的方法使意思浓缩明了。当谈判的某一方在证明自己的观点,进行一番逻辑性较强、不便中断的发言时,译者也应尽量照顾说话者的意图,不能贸然打断,而要高度集中注意力凝神静听,努力捕捉原话所承载的真实信息,必要时可以做笔记。在整段发言结束后,译者应立即译出整段意思,而非所有词语。人的记忆力是有限的,译员应摒弃原话表面形式,只记意思,用流畅的译入语重新表达。若原话冗长、 嗦、重复偏多、插话过频、举例跑题等等,译员完全可以采用节译、摘译、省译、删译的方法。当然,省略法不可使用过多,若遇到受话人不理解的时候,译员有义务复译或实事求是地补译。 二、商务知识的全面熟悉 口译是一门专业要求很高的职业,虽然粗通两国语言的人也可以做一些简单的口译工作,但是他们却无法承担正式的口译任务。要成为一名优秀的商务口译译员,他不仅必须有扎实的两种语言功底,了解两种语言背后的文化,更需要有商务领域的专业知识。 “除了日常的知识积累外,译员还应该做好译前主题和术语准备。从理论上讲,这是认识补充和扩展 的机会。” (刘和平,2000)译员对商务知识的了解是? 13?
