Which is more important and desperately needed, knowledge or ability? Today, I am gonna present my own opinion on that question.
First, let’s see a little problem happened to two students, A and B. Their lamps are broken. A is a bookworm who never put down his book and get hands-on experience. Of course, he knew what’s wrong. Because tungsten filament didn’t be heated equally when the lamp was working, it burns out. However, the knowledge can’t help him to repair it. Hopeless, he could do nothing but accept the darkness.
Different from A, B is the son of electrician. He has seen his father fixing it. He knows the process but doesn’t know human is conductor and he need to turn off the power when he replace filament. And as what we are worried, when he does that something bad happen.
It can’t be denied that this example is a little bit extreme, but it proves that both knowledge and ability are indispensable. The modern society needs the talents who not only know something well, but also can do it well. To meet this requirement, we should accumulate knowledge in learning time, acquire ability from practice
experience and try our best to be well-rounded. It is obviously that knowledge and ability always come along. Knowledge is the base, with it, we can develop and strength our abilities. With abilities, we can learn and gain more knowledge. Lacking any of them, we can’t survive the fierce competition in the future. Nevertheless, I have to say even only realizing one side is very difficult. But remember, as Marx said, there is no royal road, and only those don’t dread the fatiguing climb of its steep paths have a chance of gaining its luminous summits. Let’s work together!
