Some of them work very hard but the grades are still not so good as they expect, while others can be top students without additional work. The reason is that they have different study habits.Usually, good students will plan their time carefully so that they can have adequate time for both work and play. In my opinion, to make good use of our time in class is very important. Listening to what the teacher says in class means less work later. At the same time, to take notes to help us remember what the teacher says is necessary. Go over our notes as soon as we can after class, and this will help us remember what we learn in class better and will lead to improved performance on tests.Of course this is only one aspect for us to improve our grades. In addition, we should study regularly. I'm sure that we will be top students although we are average students with average intelligence.Besides going to different classes, we often study in the library by ourselves in our free time. The book is our very good teacher. We can read books to acquire knowledge and we can benefit much from wide reading. That's another good study habit. With the development of the society, we are facing more and more new challenges. And accordingly we need to learn sth. new to keep up with the society. Study does not end with a diploma or a college degree. As the proverb goes, “live and learn”. So I think we should develop good study habits and go on learning as long as we live.Follow-up questions:1. How long have you been studying English? For 8 years.2. Do you find it easy or difficult to learn English? Why?I find English difficult to learn, because it is not my mother tongue.3. Do you have problems in learning English? If so, what are they?Yes, I cannot remember so many English words and I have difficulty in doing listening comprehension.4. How do you solve these problems?I try to read more to enlarge my vocabulary. I do more listening practice. And I try every chance to speak to native speakers.5. What is the best way to improve your English?Read more, listen more, speak more and try to find chances to communicate with native speakers of English.6. Do you often read English newspapers or magazines? Yes.7. What do you often read in English?I often read English newspapers and magazines. I often visit English web sites.8. Do you think study ends with a school graduation?I don’t think so. The s ociety is changing and we need to learn something new to keep up with the time, so we must learn as long as we live.3. Study(07年5月)• the difficulties in learning English in China• your majors in school/college or training courses at your company• y our plan to go on to study abroad and the tests you have to take• internet as a good resource of information for study• learning from books and learning from societyQuestions for follow-up discussion (About 2-3 minutes)• What is the biggest difficult y for western people to learn Chinese? Why do you have to take an English test first?• What do you thin k is more important, job training or higher education? Does a higher educational background help you get a good job? • Which is more helpful in your study, attending a lecture or learning on your own?话题四 Eating in a RestaurantMany people like eating out in restaurants because their work keep them very busy during the day, so they would like to find a quiet place to relax. As many restaurants have parking space for cars of the guests, many people drive straight to restaurants after work. When people come into the restaurant, they will see a big smile on every waiter's face, and the smile makes them feel very comfortable in the quiet and warm atmosphere. I think this is one of the reasons why people choose to eat out in restaurants. If you have adequate money you can go to Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant to eat Roast Duck or to Donglaishun that is very famous for Mongolian hot pot. Of course, if you like, you can taste Kun-pao chicken and bean curd with pepper and chili sauce. These are not only popular among Beijingers, but also to the taste of many foreigners. You can enjoy nice music or sing Karaoke, and you can even dance in some of the restaurants. Therefore, the restaurant is a good place to visit for food and a good place to visit for relaxation after a day's hard work.I usually have meals at home, but if my relatives or my friends come to my home, I will choose to take them to the restaurant for the meal. In that way, I needn't prepare a lot of things for the meal. And after the meal, I needn't wash so many dishes. I just hate cooking in the kitchen and hate washing so many dishes. I think eating in the restaurant is very convenient, and we can chat over the meal. Follow-up questions:1. What would you tell your foreign friends about Chinese food?Chinese food is very popular with many foreign. Chinese food is not only pleasant to the eye, but also to the smell and the taste. Sichuan food is hot and spicy. Beijing food is salty, spicy and heavy. Cantonese food is light and fresh. Shanghai food is sweet and oily.2. What Chinese food would you recommend to your foreign friends? Why?。
