Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon that people keep a dog or cat or a pet of another kind all over the world.
There are many advantages of keeping a pet. Firstly, pets are good companions. This is especially important for people who live alone and for the old who do not go out much. Secondly, dogs and cats like to play and can give hours of amusement to children and adults. Thirdly, taking care of an animal also helps children to develop a sense of responsibility and to learn about the nature.
However, keeping a pet, just like anything else, has its negative sides as well. It may also give rise to some problems. For example, some pets are dirty and tend to transmit some sort of disease. What's worse, some dogs may attack and seriously injure small children. Worst of all, people tend to spend a large sum of money caring for the pets, which is a waste of money.
To sum up, the advantages of keeping pets far outweigh its disadvantages, especially for lonely people and children. Meanwhile, it is, however, quite necessary to bear in mind that pets should be well trained in case they attack people.
Studying Abroad
In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standard, studying abroad has become increasingly popular in China. Many rich parents choose to send their children abroad to receive education.
There is no doubt that studying abroad is of great benefit to us. First of all, we can use the foreign language in our daily life so that our ability of the second language may be greatly improved. What's more, while studying in a foreign country, we will most likely meet many others from overseas and it is possible to make friends from all around the world. Besides, we can get acquainted with the latest knowledge in science and make use of the first-rate facilities available.
However, every coin has two sides, and studying abroad is not an exception. Attending schools abroad may also bring about a series of problems that can't be ignored. For instance, most of the students will find it difficult to understand what the instructors say. Worse still, for lack of knowledge of the customs of the local people, they may constantly run into trouble in dealing with various situations. In spite of these disadvantages, I think studying abroad does more good than harm to us. The key point is how to make good use of its positive aspects and avoid its negative points.
