Vietnam visas are now available upon arrival in Vietnam for citizens of some countries. When one lands in Vietnam by air, there are two kinds of visas that they can opt for. They can either get a traditional visa from the Vietnamese embassy in their country before they leave their home country, or they can choose a Vietnam visa upon arrival. One needs to take the following steps to get this kind of visa. Please note that since this kind of visa is based on an electronic visa system, this service is available only in airports. All other modes of entry into Vietnam require a visa that is acquired before you enter the country.

Firstly, travelers require a pre-approval(预批的) letter that is necessary for the issue of the visa on arrival. These letters are available from any travel agency or partner that is based in Vietnam. Many websites also offer an online form that can be filled in and sent via the web.

Life is full of miracles(奇迹). They come in all sizes, too. Most people only notice the big miracles, but the tiny miracles surround us every day. They are gentle reminders of how much we are loved and how much we can love, too.

I got one of these miracle reminders just the other day as I was driving my disabled son to the place where he worked part-time. The sky was full of gray clouds, but they had not upset me. I was singing along with the radio and keeping my eyes open for little things that would move my heart. While the word “ecotourism ” may be new to many people, its ideas have been practiced by responsible travellers for decades. Imagine a world without migrating ducks or the polar icecaps(冰盖). Imagine that inland cities such as Dallas and Atlanta suddenly turn into coastal cities. It’s difficult for people to think of such a strange world.

Since the birth of the Industrial Revolution, humankind has become a greenhouse gas-making machine. Greenhouse gases are released into the air by cars, by turning on a light switch, and even by something as simple as leaving a radio or computer on overnight. Each person in your family creates a carbon footprint. Global warming can be slowed down if we all make a contribution and reduce our individual carbon footprints.

The earth is losing animal habitats due to the effects of global warming. The greatest effect that global warming has is on the oceans. As the greenhouse gases raise the earth’s average temperature, the polar icecaps melt and the seas rise. As the seas rise, fish lose their habitats. Reefs(礁石) that were once in water shallow enough to receive the sun’s rays to support their living creatures fall into darkness.

The rising temperature also increases the level of heat in the ocean itself. As the ocean’s temperature rises, carbon dioxide is trapped in the water, which raises the p H level of the sea. The increased acidity(酸性) of the ocean can harm fish and the important plankton(浮游生物) that all sea creatures rely on for a healthy food chain.

Sadly, the ocean is not our ocean. Even other creatures are under attack by global warming. Birds are migrating later and later in the season are not flying to the far south to find ice-free water for feeding, which may break the balance of some weak ecosystems created by birds.

A Debating Competition Experience

A debating competition was held between my class and Class 4 on October 22nd. I thought that debating in public would be a difficult task. Therefore, I had never confident enough to participate in any debate before.

In the debate, all the students who participated spoke well. I really wished I could have had the confidence to speak in public like them.

When the judges were discussing the performances of the participants, our English teacher called for volunteers to share their opinions on the topic. At that time, my deskmate encouraged me to go and speak. At first I was scared, because I wasn ’t prepared. After some time I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to build my confidence. So, somehow, I mustered(召集) up the courage and told the teacher that I wanted to say something on the topic. My teacher was quite surprised, as he knew I had always been quite shy in class and never volunteered to take part in such activities.

When I went on to the stage to speak about the topic, I was very nervous. I started my speech by introducing myself slowly to ease my tension. After that, I was able to speak fluently on the topic. Having finished the speech, I went back to my seat, my heart still beating fast. When my classmates and teachers were congratulating me I was very excited — not only because of their praise, but also due to the confidence that I gained from this experience. I became willing to try things that seemed to be impossible for me.

I thought that I had done a great job by speaking on the stage. And this would be a memorable incident in my life.
