Prideandprejudicebookreview傲慢与偏见读后感第一篇:Pride and prejudice book review傲慢与偏见读后感Pride and prejudice book review Pride and prejudice is a very meaningful book.Read Austen's “Pride and Prejudice”, let me know the original is not only in the distant Europe as Romeo and Juliet's tragic love, like Shakespeare as classical Gothic beauty, there are also original home marketplace, return to life in the United States. It is talk about a romantic and reality love. And love without romance is losing its light, but in this book are about rigidity and wealth. It is no doubt that happiness is everyone want to possess, and the heroine Elizabeth make it in such a worldly era.Depiction of the characters in the novel are exact and true. The novel revolves around Mrs.Benet how to marry off his daughter's five themes. The book wrote a total of four teams of young men and women combined, the authors compare them one by one, criticism, love and hate are expounded his concept of love and marriage.Darcy and Elizabeth rich arrogant rebellious wisdom, tenderness, Jane and powerful Bentley and Lydia and Wickham, Charlotte and Collins. So in this context to expand the whole story of architecture.Ms Benet heard there was a very wealthy duke moved to neighbor and just thought one of his daughters will marry him.It is just like the beginning of novel “it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. And he is considered as the rightful property of someone or other of their daughters”.Darcy has always been around disdain superficial relationships, until he met Elizabeth which really changed his ways, of course, he was not only concerned about the status of people with money, but his own personality dictates, if he doesnot encounter he really liked people, his personality has probably continue to do so, so he would not be very painful? all of people think he is arrogant and overconfident as well as Elizabeth. However, Austin author is a woman with a critical spirit, so she created a pursuit of pure love, somewhat despised elite Elizabeth. In that moment, Elizabeth has a prejudice against any action he has done which lead to many of misunderstand in the later life. When Elizabeth met Darcy outset, it would be for him the kind of pride, fussy, arrogant attitude of dissatisfaction.Darcy found he was fall in love with Elizabeth uncontrollable.Eventually he expressed his attached to her, but a self-evident contradiction between them and Elizabeth said no with prejudice. But for Darcy, he can’t out of depressions, he write a letter to his lover which could explain all of his arrogant and disdainful behaviors when he was left. This is a huge attack to Elizabeth, she felt sorry and regret but Darcy has left and life need to advance……Are we too care about the first impression, and its positioning as the kind of person he is.This is a common problem with most people, we need to learn the facts before making a decision to understand the whole truth. The next summer, with the uncle Elizabeth came to Darcy Manor, and from butler learned that Darcy was respected at the local but also he was very care of his sister. When Elizabeth meet Darcy in the woods by accident and found his attitude greatly improved, she gradually eliminate prejudice against him.And when Darcy knew that Elizabeth's sister Lydia left with Viking he is not only for Viking to pay off gambling debts, and gave her a huge sum of money, so that he and Lydia married.Since then, Elizabeth 's prejudices to Darcy turn into sincere love. The end, one pair with arrogance and prejudice finally get married. In fact, under the guise of appearance whoknows the real one.Life is life, not like the novel is so wonderful, but it has special beauty scene if you see the world with heart.Austin's time has gone, but the common people seeking a better life demands of marriage has not changed.“Pride and Prejudice” in the interpretation of the concept of marriage also did not completely out of our time, still gives us inspiration.By her description, we recognize that, at the time of the social environment, feeling helpless had to be subordinated to the money. But modern society is it not so? People talk of marriage it not be a time and money and love to weigh it? People in modern society, is to indulge in the passion, the pursuit of momentary happiness it;or the status quo, to live a simple life;or bold pursuit of love, to build a happy family and struggle. No matter what kind of choice to make, they will have their own reasons.

ABSTRACTPride and Prejudice is regarded as the masterpiece of the English writer Jane Austen in the 19th century.Pride and Prejudice, one of the classics of English literature and even the world literature, is one of the world’s greatest masterpieces. The book is mainly a novel about feminism awareness. In the novel, Jane Austen, from females’ own position and perspective, depicts an ideal female image, Elizabeth Bennet, which expresses the voices of females and sets up a model for them. Elizabeth Benne t finds her “prince” after a succession of tests, while she is endowed with more new traits. She abounds with unique individual charms and distinctive cognition towards herself and society. The inner beauty embodied in the characteristics like Elizabeth is more charming for Darcy because she needs esteem and respect rather than merely money and status. From Elizabeth, female consciousness gets deeper and deeper from the perspective of the inheritance, development and transcendence. This thesis centers on the systematic analysis of Elizabeth’s feminism awareness. It analyses feminism awareness reflected in the novel from three different aspects: the heroine’s personality, the attitudes of the heroine towards love and marriage, the attitudes of the heroine towards money. Through the analysis, this thesis intends to help readers have a comprehensive understanding of feminism awareness in the novel.KEY WORDSFeminism awareness; Independent spirit; Self-esteem;Pride and Prejudice毕业设计(论文)原创性声明和使用授权说明原创性声明本人郑重承诺:所呈交的毕业设计(论文),是我个人在指导教师的指导下进行的研究工作及取得的成果。

The first sentence in the novel is impressive andwell-known.It reads:“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” The reason is very clear:that foundation of the marriage at that time is not love but possession. The main story of the novel happens between Elizabeth and Darcy. We all know that at the first ball,Darcy refused Lizzy’invitation for dancing, because he didn’t think that anyone at the village can deserve him. After this,Lizzy promised not to pay attention to him any more because of his pride.Other than this, there are other two things that make Lizzy leave a worse impression to him.One is that she thinks it was he that had separated her sister and her lover. The second is that she heard of something bad from Wickham who has antinomies with Darcy. It is these misunderstanding that make her feeling of prejudice stronger and stronger. At last, she found she had misunderstood him and made her very regret. And Darcy had although changed. He made an offer of marriage to her again and was accepted.finally,no pride and prejudice are between them.Instead they have a happy ending. The novel also reflected the author’s marriage view:It is wrong to marry for the property, money and position. She emphasizes the importance of the ideal marriage. So,it’s natural for me to associate her works with modern society,a lot of parents try to interfere their children’s cation background or job condition may influence one’s marriage.Money is still a big problem for marriage. But money isn’t everything, true love is mostimportant one .After I read the novel,I have a profound thinking about marriage. We can comprehend the essence of Jean, and Bingley’s marriage.Elizabeth and Darcy’s marriage,Lydia and Wickham’s marriage and Charlotte and Collins’s marriage through Elizabeth’s eyes. That is,to marry for wealth and beauty is wrong. For this kind of marriage cannot maintain last and long-term happiness, and truly happy marriage is based on love and sense.2.The analysis of Elizabeth’s characterElizabeth Bennet is a person worthy of our imitation. She is a model because she is different from all the other persons, except Darcy, and because she does not adhere rigid to the standards set forth by society, she is a self-reliant and independent girl. When Mr.Collins make a proposal to Elizabeth arrogantly, she politely refused him.Unlike Charlotte,Elizabeth would never violate her principle and her integrity and throw away her talents by marrying Mr.Collins,a conceited,narrow-minded,and pompous fool man.She puts trust in her own perceptions and impressions. However, that isn’t say she is rebel against society. She has good manners, for example,She walking alone to Nether field Park just cause her genuine concern for her sister who is ill;She can have good manners to keep polite when Catherine criticize her skill of playing piano. Her self-reliant attitude causes her to think of herself as to be independent, but her view are distorted because she also regards above as normal social relationship.Elizabeth is unconscious that she suffers from pride. She does not realize the inherent dangers of her error.Elizabeth’s defects are her willful tendency to misunderstand others. She embrace stubbornly her own quick perception about people are revealed by her prejudice.Elizabeth’s initial prejudice against Darcy are rooted in the pride of her own quick perception, and her distorted perception of reality. Her prejudice renders her incapable of judging the merits of Darcy.Elizabeth is just ordinary on the surface. She is attractive but not beautiful; She is endowed with certain graces and talents but not excellent. In the end,she will find happiness because she learns to recognize her faults.Elizabeth’s blindness of her faults was opened by Darcy’s letter. She learns to judge others more accurately and not to be blinded by first impressions.Elizabeth’s confession that she was guilty of prejudices based on her own judgment tells us that she is superior to the other characters. And she also realizes that people cannot be judged based solely by their appearance, and that character evaluations must also take the substance account behind a person’s appearance.Elizabeth becomes a rational woman speaking the truth from her heart.Without neither family wealth nor wisdom to help her,Elizabeth’s success is a attribute to her inner strength.3.Analysis of the five marriage patterns3.1The marriage of Mr. and Mrs.BennetTheir marriage is a typical instance of the traditional marriage in the eighteenth century.Their marriage shows that the two have never experienced much mutual love and is done mostly for financial benefit. It is a tragedy to Mr.Bennet.Mrs. Bennet as a simple-minded pretty woman who frequently complaints about her nerve shows that her mind was less difficult to develop, and shewas a woman of mean understanding, little information, and uncertain temper. When she was discontented she imagined herself nervous. The business of her life was to get her daughters married.Mr.Bennet is an intelligent and witty man. He“was so odd a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humor, reserve and caprice, that the experience of three and twenty years had been insufficient to make his wife understand his character.”It shows that there is no marital happiness of emotional and intellectual understanding between the couple.Mr.Bennet married for money and beauty. After marriage,he realized Mrs.Bennet would not make her an ideal wife due to her intellectual weakness and narrow vision. To the couple, their marriage is a social responsibility,so when love disappears, the marriage still can be continuing. The novel reflects that the women’s social status is very low at that time. And the author criticizes this unequal society,She thinks that both men and women should enjoy equal treatment.3.2 Jane and BingleyJane, the eldest daughter of Bennet family,is a good-natured and gentle woman.Bingley is a wealthy, handsome, kind and simple young man who is easy to approach in love. They fall in love at first sight.“He is just what a young man should be,”“…sensible,good-humored,lively;and I have never saw such happy manners!…so much ease, with such perfect good breeding”Jane’s impression to Bingley.Jane is“the most beautiful creature I ever beheld”in the eyes of Bingley.Their marriage is based on mutual love. They have so many virtues in common. For example, good -tempered and modest, share a mutual understanding and think best of others. However they also have weakness. To hide her emotion to Bingley shows that Jane lacks of strength and self-confidence.And Bingley cannot to be a strong and determined man though pleasant and modest as he is.Also his indecisive character determines that he lacks independence in his marriage. Both of them are weak in judgment and easy to be influenced by others so they need considerate and beneficial advice from Elizabeth and Darcy sometimes.3.3 Elizabeth and DarcyElizabeth,a second daughter of Bennet,is the heroine of the novel. She is an intelligent and quick-witted young lady. She is Jane Austen’s most favorite character.Austen’s dream could not realized in the reality have been realized in the novel.Elizabeth is certainly a striking and satisfactory self-portrait of Austen.Darcy is a“fine, tall person, with handsome features,…”.His proud is over emphasized in the Elizabeth’s eyes, and his haughty proposal insulted Elizabeth’s self-esteem,so she feels that she is not treated equally with Darcy. Thus, she is by no means to accept his offer. The temptation of money and social status can not make her disregard.Elizabeth’s refusal makes him recognize his faults of pride and prejudice. She visit to Darcy’s home makes Elizabeth’s judgment of Darcy radically change and makes her re-accept a more prefect Darcy. The marriage between Elizabeth and Darcy is an ideal one.It is based on affection, esteem and emotion.Economic condition and social status still played a important role in marriage at that time and they also have a great influence on their ter,she feels regretful for her refusal of Darcy’s offer, and her feeling towards Darcy changes.Through their marriage,Austen show that the power of love can overcome social status and prejudice and further implied that such prejudice isfutile.3.4 Lydia and WickhamLydia, the youngest daughter of the Bennet family. She is a foolish,empty-minded person. She never stop seeking fun and excitement and there seems no purpose in her life.Just like her mother, marriage is the business in her life. She never regards love as a serious matter. She lacks any sense of virtue and judgment. She is fascinated by the attention of Wickham,a young soldier.Ironically, under the gentlemanlike appearance,Wickham turns to be a corruption in moral. The marriage between Lydia and wickham is based on fun and excitement, not base on affection.Strong passion is the main reason for their marriage. To marry a man like Wickham can never bring true happiness to a woman.Shortly after their marriage,“his affection to her soon sunk into indifferent;her lasted a little longer;…”.When passion fades away, them seem to feel miserable with their married life and constantly try to avoid meeting each other.3.5 Charlotte and CollinsCharlotte is one of several children of a former tradesman. She is Elizabeth’s good friend.Other than Mr.Bennet,Charlotte is the person in Elizabeth’s world who is closest to her in temperament and intelligence. She has her own ideas and is fair and objective on issues.Being such a “sensible, intelligent young woman”,her marriage proves her sense and wisdom.Mr.Collins is a stupid clergyman. He is a narrow-minded man possessing no conception of love. He plans to get married only because Lady Catherine strongly advices him to do so.Like Mrs.Bennet,he treats marriage as a business. It is obviously it just as a deal in the marriage market.Charlotte knows very well of Collins, but she still accepts he as her husband. She wants to marry for the sake of security and status, but considering her ordinary and lack of fortune, also her age,she does not expect to have much choice to select a husband. The attitude towards Charlotte’s marriage indicates that true love is more important than material in a marriage.4.Austen’s view on marriageMarriage can not only depend on property and social status, while without considering these two factors is not wise, either;Marriage without love is immoral; Marriage without property is unstable. Happy marriage should based on love and solid financial foundation. Besides love, there are other factors which is very important in marriage, such as mutual respect, mutual understanding, common virtues, passion, and reason.5.ConclusionElizabeth and Darcy’s love is the most ideal one, just like a shining pearl in the history of literary.Austen emphasizes the importance of the ideal marriage, and regard men and women’s emotion as the foundation and firm stone of the ideal marriage. And marriage doesn’t equal to love, and this ideal are far away from us.Elizabeth and Darcy’s marriage id the happiest, with deep-rooted of love, and a necessary condition of Darcy’s strongly wealth. And if marriage is such kind of castle,I would like to be trapped by this kind of love and happiness.6.Bibliography1.

Literature ReviewPride and Prejudice is considered Jane Austen?s most famous and successful novel. And inmany people?s opinion it is also one of the greatest fictionswritten in English. It contains all theelements necessary for great literature: an attractive plot, a terse style, appropriate setting, and fascinating characters. Many literature critics write essays to analyze this book and I arrange them in the following logical way.1. The Most Remarkable Character of Austen’s WorkThe most remarkable character of Austen?s work is the accurate descriptions of the details ofdaily life. As W. F. Pollock (1860) said “Miss Austen neverattempts to describe a scene or a classof society with which she was not herself thoroughly acquainted. The conversations of ladies with ladies, or of ladies and gentlemen together, are given, but no instance occurs of a scene in which men only are present.” Austen focuses on daily life of middle-class with humor and understanding. She observes every small matters and every ordinaryperson in her own life and tries to paint them in her novel. What are important for her are those little matters, as Emma says, “on which thedaily happiness of private life depends”. In her time marriage mainly determined women's socialstatus. It is obviously reflected in Pride and Prejudice. The characters of Pride and Prejudice areall ordinary people and the dialogues and events may happen in everyone?s daily life. Many literary critics have the same idea as W. F. Pollock, such as W.A.N. and Sir Walter Scott .W.A.N. (1815) said …The most remarkable characteristic of Jane Austen as a novelist is her recognition of the limits of her knowledge of life and her determination never to go beyond these limits in her books?. In Pride and Prejudice she describes the middle class, with which she isfamiliar and the part of the country with which she was acquainted. She puts her first-hand observation and experience into this novel to tell us stories about the Bennet sisters. She herself speaks of the "little bit (two inches wide) of ivory on which I work". We can take any dialogue from Pride and Prejudice, and you will find it is just like talks in every normal day of that time.Sir Walter Scott (1826) also evaluated Pride and Prejudice in his journal:Read again, and for the third time at least, Miss Austen's veryfinely written novel of "Pride andPrejudice." That young lady has a talent for describing the involvements and feelings and characters of ordinary life which is to methe most wonderful I ever met with. The big bow-wow strain I can do myself like any now going; but the exquisite touch, which renders ordinary commonplace things and characters interesting, from the truth of the description and the sentiment, is denied to me.2. The Quality of Austen’s WorkW. F. Pollock(1860) also talked about the quality of the novel—“The uniform quality of herwork is one most remarkable point to be observed in it. Let a volume be opened at any place: there is the same good English, the same refined style, the same simplicity and truth”. When we readPride and Prejudice we can feel the dialogues humorous and fanny and it shows Austen?s specialability in wording. The characters of Pride and Prejudice are all distinctive. Elizabeth isintelligent, witty and lively. Jane always sees the good of others. So you will find that Austen is so skillful in managing her characters. It will then be found how great has been the discrimination of Miss Austen in the selection of1her characters, and how skillful is her treatment in the management of them. It is true that the events are for the most part those of daily life, and the feelings are those connected with the usual joys; but these are the very events and feelings upon which the happiness or misery of most of us depends; and the field which embraces them, to theexclusion of the wonderful, the sentimental, and the historical, is surely large enough, as it certainly admits of the most profitable cultivation. In the end, too, the novel of daily real life is that of which we are least apt to weary: a round of fancy balls would tire the most vigorous admirers of variety in costume, and the return to plain clothes would be hailed with greater delight than their occasionalreli nquishment ever gives. 3. The Weakness of Austen’s Work Austen?s accurate description of the details of daily is also considered a weakness of her work, and even an objection to her. And she has been accused of writing dull stories about ordinary people, especially when her work is compared with those describing the changing times and historical events. But in Pollock?s (1860) view it is just the unique character of Austen?s work. She shows readers a real and vivid picture of her era through these small matters in ordinary people?s ordinary life. There is no grand narrative, but readers can feel it from the dialogues characters make. The description of ordinary people and life is easier to understand. 4. Character of Austen’s HeroinesAusten's heroines have a stamp of their own. They have a certain gentle self-respect and humor and hardness of heart in which modern heroines are a little wanting. Whatever happens they can overcome the difficulties without bitterness. Love with them does not mean a passion so much as an interest—deep, silent, not quite incompatible with a secondary flirtation. Jane Bennet smiles, sighs, and makes excuses forBingley's neglect. Emma passes one disagreeable morning making up her mind to the unnatural alliance between Mr. Knightley and Harriet Smith. It was the spirit of the age, and perhaps one not to be unenvied. It was not that Jane Austen herself was incapable of understanding a deeper feeling.5. Bibiliography[1]Goldwin Smith,1890.
