8. A Sweet Love Story

One of the most touching and purest love stories I’ve read.

From the very beginning, the girl’s family objected strongly to her dating this guy, saying that it has got to do with family background, and that the girl will have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.

Due to family’s pressure, the couple quarreled very often. Though the girl loved the guy deeply, she always asked him, “How deep is your love for me?”

As the guy is not good with his words, this often caused the girl to be very upset. With that and the family’s pressure, the girl often vents her anger on him. As for him, he only endured it in silence.

After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated and decided to further his studies overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl, “I’m not very good with words. But all I know is that I love you. If you allow me, I’ll take care of you for the rest of my life. As for your family, I’ll try my best to talk them round. Will you marry me?”

The girl agreed, and with the guy’s determination, the family finally gave in and agreed to let them get married. So before he left, they got engaged.

The girl went out to the working society, whereas the guy was overseas, continuing his studies. They sent their love through emails and phone calls. Though it was hard, both of them never thought of giving up.

One day, while the girl was on her way to work, a car that lost control knocked her down. When she woke up, she saw her parents beside her bed. She realized that she was badly injured. Seeing her mum cry, she wanted to comfort her. But she realized that all that could come out of her mouth was just a sigh—she had lost her voice.

The doctor says that the impact on her brain has caused her to lose her voice. Listening to her parents’ comfort, but with nothing coming out from her, she broke down. During the stay in hospital, besides silent cry, it’s just silent cry that accompanied her. Upon reaching home, everything seems to be the same, except for the ringing tone of the phone, which pierced into her heart every time it rang. She doesn’t wish to let the guy know and not wanting to be a burden to him, she wrote a letter to him saying that she doesn’t wish to wait any longer.

With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions and millions of replies and countless phone calls. All the girl could do besides crying is still crying……The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything and be happy.

With a new environment, the girl learnt sign language and started a new life.

Telling herself every day that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend came and told her that he’s back. She asked her friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn’t any more news of him.

A year has passed and her friend came with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy’s wedding. The girl was shattered. When she opened the letter, she saw her name on it instead. When she was about to ask her friend what was going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her.

He used sign language to tell her, “ I’ve spent a year to learn sign language. Just to let you know that I’ve never forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I love you.” With that, he slipped the ring back into her finger. The girl finally smiled……

Treat every relationship as if it’s the last one, then you’ll know how to give.

Treat every moment as if it’s the last day, then you’ll know how to treasure.

Treat what you have right now, or else you may regret one day……

9.Sand and Stone

The story goes that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand, “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him.

When he recovered from the fright, he wrote on a stone, “ Today my best friend saved my life.”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “ After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?”

The other friend replied, “When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds

1. Life Goals The future is always unknown to us. But to some extent, we can foresee what will most likely be. We can strive for the best. So in the future, I want to be somebody. I believe that a young man who expects to be somebody often turns out to be one. Lots of great people, like scholars or public speakers or scientists, all had strong wishes or ideals when they were young. Although in striving toward my ideal, I may encounter certain difficulties and failures, I should not give up or lose hope because nothing is too easy. I believe as long as I try, I will have a bright future. 2. Choose Optimism If you expect something to turn out badly, it probably will. Pessimism is seldom disappointing. But the same principle also works in reverse. If you expect good things to happen, they usually do! There seems to be a natural cause-and-effect relationship between optimism and success. Optimism diverts our attention away from negativism and channels it into positive, constructive thinking. When you’re an optimist, you’re more concerned with problem-solving than with useless complaining about issues. In fact, without optimism, issues as big and ongoing as poverty have no hope of solution. It takes a dreamer---someone with hopelessly optimistic ideas, great persistence, and unlimited confidence---to tackle a problem that big. It’s your choice. 3. Always have dreams You should be a dreamer yourself. If you don’t have a dream, a plan, a wish, how can you know where you want to go? Maybe some of your dreams are unrealistic and impossible, but as long as you work hard, your dreams may come true one day. Dreams, in one way, are not expensive. They don’t cost any money. Even the poorest person in the world can have all the dreams he desires. But in another way, they are expensive, for we have to work and sacrifice to make our dreams come true. Dreams can come true, but even if they can’t, life will be a more beautiful dream deep in our hearts. If we can dream it, we can do it. If we stop dreaming, we will close the door to success. I hope you will always be a dreamer, a poet, a seeker of rainbows after storms. 4. Be thoughtful Being thoughtful simply means thinking of others before yourself. What you say or do will have an effect on others. So it is important that you think before you say or do anything. In this way, you can avoid hurting other’s feelings. Moreover, a thoughtless act or remark can spoil a perfect relationship. Remember these rules. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Likewise, if you think what you do will hurt others, don’t do it. After all, what goes around comes around.

I want you to know that we have very much in common. A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men aboard were able to swim to a small, desert-like island. Not knowing what else to do, the two survivors agreed that they had no other recourse than to pray to God。 However, to find out whose prayers were more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island。The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the island, and he was able to eat its fruit. But the other man's parcel of land remained barren。 After a week, the first man became lonely and decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the island. But on the other side of the island, there was nothing。 Soon thereafter the first man prayed for a house, clothes and more food. The next day, like magic, all of these things were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing。Finally, the first man prayed for a ship so that he and his wife could leave the island, and in the morning he found a ship docked at his side of the island。 The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island, considering the other man unworthy to receive God's blessings since none of his prayers had been answered。 As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from Heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?" "My blessings are mine alone since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he doesn’t deserve anything." "You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings." "Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?" "He prayed that all your prayers would be answered."
