K ey words :college slang ,in style ,psychodynamic factor 中图分类号:H313 文献标识码:A 文章编号:1004-6038(2001)06-0029-03 1.引言 第二次世界大战后,俚语已渐渐被众人所接受,而且使 用俚语甚至被视为时髦之举。青年学生富有才智和表达能力,思维活跃,不拘一格,是日常俚语的使用者和创造者。他 们使用的俚语别有特色,自成一派,称谓“校园俚语” college slang ),即校园流行语,因其数量之多和流行之广,已渐成风气,也越来越引起人们的注意。本文试图对俚语和校园俚语进行比较,对其特点加以分析,并从青年学生心理的表层和深层动力的角度探讨校园俚语流行的原因。 2.校园俚语与俚语 校园俚语为俚语的主要构成部分,但又有着其极其鲜明的特点,自成一派。 首先,校园俚语既保留了所谓的传统俚语的特征,即通俗、含蓄、不雅和随意,又显示了其游离在外、别具一格的独立性。由于校园学府的特殊性,校园俚语有别于其他群体的语言,更重要的是校园俚语已经脱离了传统俚语的低级粗俗,形成了独特的风格:雅俗共赏。因而,校园俚语要比俚语更容易被接受和被传播。在校园流行的俚语中,很难寻到极其低俗的用语和不规则的表达法,其语法和语言结构都没有超越规范英语的范畴。校园俚语实际上是遵循规范英语语法但大量使用了特殊词汇的非正式语言。 第二,俚语是用来表达说话者的经历、情感、信仰和价值观的,它在一定的程度上囊括某个群体或某个行业生活的方方面面,反映的是某亚文化群成员的本来面目,对其使用者来说,如黑人群体、城市下层人群以及犯罪团伙等是出于习 惯,因而俚语自然而然就成为他们的生活语言。然而,校园 俚语却不是完整的语言,因为校园俚语不能囊括学生生活中的一切事情。但是,青年学生经常谈论的话题和他们生活中重要的部分都被赋予了俚语用法。校园俚语最为常见的是:食品或和吃有关的用语;谈及金钱、费用、吸毒、酗酒时的用语;褒贬工作和学习及人际关系的用语;议论校园内某处或某人的用语。 第三,在某个群体或行业内部,使用俚语可能没有时间环境和沟通对象的限制。然而,学生们却不是在任何时间里都使用俚语,只有在某个特定的环境里才使用俚语,同时还要有能够接受俚语的沟通对象。通常,在正式的场合下,如在教室里和工作间学生们就力求避免俚语。对学生来说,校园俚语不是用来排斥那些不懂俚语的人,然而,学生们确实是在朋友和亲密的社交伙伴中才使用俚语。如果在新相识和陌生人中使用俚语,会产生不良的效果。Rapping like a hep cat won ’t win you a lot of friends.在这个句子中,rap ,hep cat 都为俚语,暗示着在不合适的场合下太多的俚语会 惹人烦。 31校园俚语的语言特点 校园俚语能够广泛地为青年学生喜说乐用,而且渐成时 尚,这与校园俚语的语言特色有着不可分割的联系。 311简而达意,方便有效 校园俚语的句子短小,用词简单,但它所表达的复杂的意思,不是字典中的定义所能囊括的。简而言之,校园俚语简而达意,沟通起来方便而且有效。如:That party is da bomb.这句话并不能用一句It is a good party 来解释,其中所
