本文主要从我国高校英语教学现状分析、英语即兴演讲的意义以及英语演讲对外语能力培养的重要性三个方面来对英语演讲对外语能力培养的重要性进行了分析。
1.我国高校英语教学现状分析1.1学生英语基础普遍偏弱随着高校录取分数不断降低，学生的生源与质量也随之下降。
根据调查显示：高校学生有60%人的英语基础相当薄弱，在学习英语时非常困难，更有甚者已经对英语彻底失去了信心，将英语课作为他们的睡觉课；另有30%的学生英语基础还可以，但是其缺乏学习英语的兴趣；只有10%的学生英语基础相对较好，由于受到传统英语教学模式的影响，缺乏良好的学习习惯和学习方法，只是去死记硬背一些单词和语法，忽视了培养学生口语交流能力。
1.2学生忽视学习英语的重要性在学生的思想认识中，有这样一种错误认识：他们的任务就是学习一些专业知识和提高自己的动手操作能力，而英语在以后的工作中并不重要，因此，没有必要学习。
学生们带着这样一种错误的认识去学习英语时，对英语的热情和积极性并不强烈，进而导致学生的英语水平普遍偏低。
1.3传统教学模式导致学生失去了学习兴趣在传统的英语教学模式中，教学手段和方法过于单一，这是出现学生厌烦学习英语的重要原因之一。

一、实践过程与策略1.探讨与分组环节利用本校研究性学习课程开设时间，将高一、高二各一个班的学生进行集中和分组。
教师加以引导，由学生进行讨论，要求一：讨论出自己最感兴趣的话题类别；二：说出自己最喜欢或者是最崇拜的名人；三：模仿演讲者，演讲内容为英文。
按照讨论结果进行分类。
类别为：A.政界类别，如：Barack Hussein Obama Jr.George Walker Bush，Hillary Clinton...B.科学类别，C.时尚类别，D.社会学类别，E.饮食与健康类别，F.经济类别，G.其他。

为了更好的了解英语演讲对英语学习的促进作用及程度，调查组在本校各个学院、2012级部分学生中进行了问卷调查。
调查得出受访学生对于英语演讲的认识程度局限但兴趣范围广，对于英语演讲对学习的利弊有着自己的看法、以及对待英语演讲他们所采取的态度等方面的问题。
此次问卷可反映出受访学生对英语学习的态度，摸清英语演讲在高校内的开展情况以及普及程度和对他们的影响，对调查研究起到一定的整理分析作用。
一、英语演讲的形式近年来，国内英语演讲比赛活动繁多。
此中最具影响力、最具权威的英语演讲比赛莫过于2002年起由中国中央电视台与外语教学与研究出版社联合主办的“CCTV杯”全国英语演讲比赛。
大学生英语演讲主要有即兴演讲与命题演讲这两大形式，都为大学生创造一个激励外语学习，展示综合能力，培养优秀人才的平台。
英语演讲是提高学生英语口语水平、改善学生思辨力和创造力的有效手段[1]。

一、引言
随着中国经济的高速发展，对外交流合作的机会日益增多，大学生英语口语交际能力的提高也显得更加重要。
教育部2007年颁发的《大学英语课程教学要求（试行）》，明确指出：大学英语的教学目标是培养学生的英语综合应用能力，特别是听说能力，使他们在今后学习、工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行交际，同时增强其自主学习能力，提高综合文化素养，以适应我国社会发展和国际交流的需要。
为了到达这一教学目标，全国范围内的不同级别、不同范围、不同形式的大学生英语演讲比赛每年都在热烈地举办之中，有效促进了学生口语交流能力的提高，使其成为具有高素质的国际型人才。
而英语课堂教学与素质教育紧密相连。
我们通过英语课堂教学可以使学生获得语言知识，形成技能，使学生语言素质得到全面发展，而英语演讲比赛是非常常见的课堂活动。
二、大学英语课堂教学中存在的问题
近年来，随着大学生英语水平的不断提高，大学英语教学也取得了很大成绩，但与社会发展和需要相比仍有着一定距离，尤其是口语教学没有得到相应的重视。
掌握外语这一交际工具的最有效途径就是通过交际实践，当前大学英语教学在较大程度上仍偏重于语言基础知识和基本技能教学，并未真正培养学生掌握胜
任复杂社会环境的语言运用能力，教师在课堂教学中较少强调对社会问题的关注，导致学生对社会、对世界的洞察力和思辨力明显缺乏，不足以对热点问题进行有条理有逻辑的阐述和分析，忽略了口语能力的培养。
即使在课堂上安排了口语教学内容，也只是停留在较浅的层次口语交流，久而久之，会造成学生对英语学习热情的缺乏。
三、英语演讲对在大学英语课堂教学中的运用
英语演讲对于大学生的英语学习有着重要作用。
叶建敏（2005）认为，大学阶段应是文化交际能力培养的大好时光，教师可以大胆地采用以学生为主体、以内容为中心的教学手段。
笔者曾经多次组织并辅导学生参加各类英语演讲比赛，在多年的教学中积极把英语演讲活动体现在课堂教学中，积累了一定的经验，提高学生的英语实际运用能力和综合素质，最终实现大学英语教学大纲中的教学目标的要求。
（一）英语演讲在大学英语课堂教学中的各种形式。
在教学实践中，大学英语的课时较少，要兼顾各类考试。
因此，教师对口语能力的培养没有给与足够的重视，缺乏口语教学的课堂实践。
英语演讲是一种有效训练口语的教学实践活动。
教师可以采用多种形式的演讲来激发学生，活跃课堂。
一般大学英语课程设置为四个学期，教师可以变换形式安排学生进行演讲：第一个学期可以让学生自由演讲，不加限制，不做太多的评论；第二学期可以固定时长，固定话题，进行演讲；第三学期可以就某一些特
定的话题、领域或者单元学习内容进行小组集体演讲报告，可以延长演讲时间；第四学期可以就学生专业领域的一些感兴趣内容布置演讲任务，同时加长演讲时间。
（二）英语演讲对于大学生英语口语能力提高的重要性。
