AFranky Zapata has been driven by a single dream since he little: being able to fly. Not in an airplane, he says, since the windows function like a screen, but like a bird. As the French inventor was born colorblind, that ruled out learning to fly helicopters. So after several years spent racing jet skis, he invented hydrojets(喷液)which allowed him to at least fly above the water. Then improvements in technology allowed him to go further, cutting the hydrojet from its tether and taking to the air.”When you fly with your body,”says Zapata, “even your hands affect the direction you want to go in. You feel the air through your fingers. It’s like becoming a bird. But it's also very hard. I have to fight against the wind with my legs so there's pain too. It’s not as peaceful as it looks."Last Sunday the 40-year-old former jet-ski champion took to the skies above Paris at the Bastille day parade, capturing the world’s imagination with a board that can reach an altitude of nearly 500 feet-with the potential to go much higher and a speed of 140 kilometers per hour. Back in his workshop near Marseille, Zapata says while he enjoys showing his creation off to a crowd, whathe really loves is flying alone.” It's wonderful when I’m flying around the Arizona desert, through the mountains. That's why I built this machine,” he says. “In my heart the best thing is the freedom."Already, he has worked with the US and French militaries, with the French investing 1.4 million dollars in tests of the board.” If the question is do I think I will sell this to special forces all over the world, the answer is yes. When? I don’t know,” says Zapata. As for commercial uses, he says that regulations need to he worked out and safety issues looked at before the technology can be put to wider use.21. Why couldn’t Franky Zapata fly the heli copter?A. He dreamed of flying alone.B. He felt like racing the jet skies.C. He invented the hydrojets soon.D. He had difficulty in telling colors.22. What difficulty did Franks Zapata have in driving his hydrojets?A. Standing pains from wind.B. Feeling the air through fingers.C. Learning to fly like the birds.D. Controlling the proper direction23. What should people do before hydrojets are widely used?A. They should have the rules changed.B. They should learn about the technology.C. They should pay 1.4 million dollars.D. They should ensure the speed and safety.BA high school principal fell into a month-long coma and died on Sunday after selflessly donating his bone marrow to save the life of a teenager in France.Derrick Nelson, who worked at West Geld High School in New Jersey, had the procedure at a Bergen County hospital in February. “After the procedure he did, he couldn’t speak and was lying in the bed,” his father, Willie Nelson, said. “His eyes we re open and he realized who we were. But he couldn't move. He never spoke again." “We really don’t know the full story of what happened,” he added. "We were expecting him to come out of the coma he was in. But he didn't make it."His Wife, Sheronda Braker, said that he "was a tremendous father to our beloved daughter Morgan and the best companion and life partner I could have ever asked for. He loved his family almost beyond belief. He was a man who carried himself with dignity, courage and compassion,” she continued. “His last kind and generous act on this earth in giving so someone else might live is a true testament to who he was and how he should always be remembered. We will always love him.According to the school newspaper, Nelson donated blood during college in 1996-and it wasn'tuntil 2018 that he got the call he might be able to save a life. Be The Match, a national bone marrow donor program, contacted Nelson in October and told him that he could be a match for a 14-year-old boy. Just a few months later, he went through with it.The process to extract the bone marrow was rough and he felt terrible, he told the student newspaper, but "if it’s just a little bit of pain for a little bit of time that can give someone years of joy, it’s all worth it."24. Which can be used to replace the underlined word "procedure" in Paragraph 2?A. Process.B. Treatment.C. Operation.D. Inspection.25. What does the third paragraph mainly talk about?A. Nelson’s deep love for his family.B. Nelson’8wife’s comments on him.C. Nelson’s noble character.D. Nelson's good deeds to others.26. Which of the following statements is NOT the fact according to the passage?A. Nelson passed away after a month-long coma.B. Nelson completely lost consciousness after the procedure.C. Nelson didn't know the boy whom he donated his bone marrow to.D. Nelson didn't get a bone marrow match call until 22 years after he donated blood.CTo help more disadvantaged students get into higher education, the College Board has come up with a scoring metric(度量标准)beyond its own test, which measures only verbal and math skills. The new tool is designed to help admissions officers detect if applicants have risen above limitations in their social or economic circumstances by expressing a particular character trait: resourcefulness. The new metric, called the Environmental Context Dashboard, has been tried by 50 colleges over the past year and will be rolled out to 150 institutions this fall. Relying on public data, It looks at 15 factors in neighborhoods and schools that might negatively influence a candidate’s college readiness. These statistics include crime rates, education levels, joblessness, and the number of households that receive food stamps. If applicants come from a highly adverse background yet have decent but perhaps not high SAT scores, a college might then admit them. This predictor of resourcefulness highlights more than tenacity(韧性). Resourcefulness shows an ability to seek support outside one’s self. It requires a clear pur pose in learning. The new tool "shines a light on students who have been proved remarkable resourcefulness to overcomechallenges and achieve more with less,” says David Coleman, the College Board’s chief executive. The "dashboard" also has the advantage of not taking race into consideration in admissions, a practice being increasingly closed off by the Supreme Court and many states. At the same time, in emphasizing a key quality for academic success, it may help prevent discrimination(歧视)in admissions. The tool is not an absolute measure of resourcefulness(智慧). It misses other types of circumstances, such as personal or family problems. Colleges must weigh many factors in admissions. Still, it could lead to a greater focus on character in education beyond the traditional pursuit of knowledge and career skills. Graduates who have excelled despite their hardships are highly de sired by today’s employers.27. Who may benefit from the new tool?A. The students with great verbal skills.B. The students who are good at math.C. The students who have much money.D. The students from the poor families.28. What does the new metric use when judging the candidates?A. The marks from 50 colleges.B. The difficulties candidates will face.C. The equipment of schools.D. The institutions candidates will study in.29. What is the advantage of the dashboard?A. It will help treat participates equally.B. It will help improve the ability of races.C. It will help make participates successful.D. It will help provide clear learning purposes.30. What kind of graduates are welcomed by employers?A. Those with excellent characters.B. Those who have experienced the hardships.C. Those making progress in difficult situations.D. Those with the traditional pursuit of knowledge.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

ADeciduous forests(落叶林) are home to many wild animals. The development and expansion of human presence in the forests has caused many of their native species to become endangered.Giant PandaThe giant panda, one of the most recognizable endangered species, is a large, docile species of bear native to the deciduous forest of eastern China, Myanmar and Vietnam. Because of its lim-ited diet—the panda’ s main source of food is bamboo— the species is limited in its habitat to areas where bamboo is available. Now the species only can be found today in 20 small patches of forest at the western edge of its historic range.Gray and Red WolvesThe gray wolf, which once ranged from the East Coast of America to the West, and south to Mexico, now has a population of only 5, 000 in the lower 48 states, mostly in the Rocky Mountains. The smaller red wolf, native to the southeastern United States, was declared extinct in the wild in 1980, though conservation efforts have reintroduced small captive populations to the wild in California.Red-Crowned CraneThe red-crowned crane is native to Japan, Korea and eastern China. Agricultural expansion and deforestation (森林砍伐) in these areas have removed a great deal of the marshes and forests that are the crane’ s primary habitats. For a time, the crane was thought to have completely disappeared from Japan, but the recent discovery of cranes in Japanese marshlands has restarted conservation efforts.Today, around 2, 500 cranes live in the wild, including 1,000 in Japan.European MinkNative to Europe, the European mink ranges from France in the west to Finland in the north, Russia in the east and the Balkans in the south.

AThank you. It’s my great honor to be given this award. You cannot imagine that I have always been a late starter. Years ago, when I was 16, I took an important exam — GCE(General Certificate of Education), which turned out to be a failure. My dad was reading my report card and saw that my position in class was 29th, but the number in class was 29. It meant that I had achieved the distinction of being bottom of my class.I wasn’t lazy, and I was really trying. You can picture how I felt. Dad put his hand on my shoulder and said, “You can only do the best you can, but whatever you decide to do, make sure you love it.” He was a really sweet guy and a great man. I knew his attempt to hide his disappointment with some of his encouraging words. I was depressed for a week, but his advice was a wake-up call.Fortunately I love working with my hands, and I was good at two things: woodwork and art, and I really loved to draw and paint. I was quite talented. Dad strongly encouraged me to go to art school, which in those days wasn’t the obvious place that a father would suggest. So I got into Hartlepool College of Art. The college was a revelation (出乎意料), the passionate teachers there, who were extremely interested in the students, not just tolerating them but actually engaging with them. It was a world apart from my schooling until then. It’s extraordinary what an enthusiastic teacher can do, drawing the student out, lighting independence, and encouraging a design of your own future, rather than waiting for something to happen. I’m honored to have become one of these passionate teachers years later. My teachers inspired me, and thanks to my dad, here I am tonight. I think I should mention all the talents I have worked with over time, and to my kids and my wife Giannina, thank you.Thank you for this great award. I shall find a very special place for it.1. As the founder of big companies like PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla Motors, Elon Musk is a guide and inspiration for the youth around the world.Elon Musk was born on June 28,1971 inPretoria,South Africa. He was the eldest of three children. His father Errol Musk, a British-born South African, was an engineer. Musk spent his childhood inSouth Africaand at the age of 9, he got his first personal computer. This got Elon interested in programming and he started to learn on his own. At the age of 12, he made his first computer game, Blaster, which earned him $500 when he sold the source code to a magazine. When he was 17, he decided to leave home and had wanted to move to theUnited Statesafter graduating from a secondary school inPretoria. However, he was unable to move to theUnited States. In 1989, Elon Musk moved toCanada, where his mother’s s lived. After obtaining Canadian citizenship, Musk went toMontreal. Finally, in 1992, his dream came true—he moved to theUnited States. As a teenager, Musk struggled with depression. But then he realized that the most important thing was presenting himself with the right questions. The day he started doing this, everything started to get easier.Musk thought that a human being had to expand the limits of his consciousness—to ask the right questions and get answers to them; thus he asked the best question of all: what will have the greatest impact on the future of humans? Musk found that these things were the Internet and space exploration. The life of Elon Musk is inspiring. He found success on the Internet, without much formal learning. By reading books and using his willpower and dedication, he reached a level of knowledge that is difficult to imagine. He did not give up until he achieved his dreams. Around the world people drink it to relax, reinvigorate and relieve, and it's something we need now more than ever.Even in the United States, a long coffee-dominated country, tea drinking is growing in popularity, with the country consuming 0.4 kilograms (14 ounces) of tea leaves per person a year compared with 0. 36 kilograms(12. 7 ounces) in 2007 according to the United Nations, as people switch away from soda, milk and fruit drinks.Scientists are beginning to look into just how tea might affect mood and cognition. Specifically, they're investigating whether its relaxing and refreshing effects are a direct biological outcome of the compounds in tea or whetherthey come from the context in which the drink is consumed—preparing your tea, choosing your favorite cup and sitting down for a brief break from the world. Or both.Drinking green tea has been found to improve brain function in healthy people, said Stefan Borgward, chair and director of the department of psychiatry and psychotherapy at the University of Lubeck, Germany. In a 2014 study, he gave one or two cups of green tea to 12 healthy volunteers and imaged their brains to analyze changes in connectivity inside certain brain regions.“We noticed an increased connectivity in regions of the brain associated with working memory,” he said via email. And a 2017 review of more than 100 studies he coauthored found that green tea can impact the brain inthree ways: It can influence psychopathological state such as reducing anxiety; cognition by benefiting memory and attention; and brain function, specifically memory. That review concluded that "it would be desirable" for more Westerners to consume at least 100 milliliters(3.3 fluid ounces) of green tea each day “to protect neurocognitive function.”However, Borgward, cautioned that the effects aren't large, and the evidence is mainly provided by small-scale studies.8. How does the author introduce the tendency of drinking in the U.S.?A. By showing examples.B. By explaining reasons.C. By making a comparison.D. By checking existing facts.9. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?A. Scientists are looking into why tea makes people relaxed and refreshed.B. The context in which the drink is consumed is very important.C. People's relaxation is the direct biological outcome of the ingredients in tea.D. Preparing tea, choosing a cup and sitting down for a brief rest is amazing.10. What can we conclude from Stefan's research?A. Tea is a cure for a neurocognitive disease.B. Green tea is particularly beneficial to our memory.C. Drinking tea every day can prevent us from getting ill.D. Westerners drink less than 100 milliliters of green tea.11. What is the researcher'sattitude towards the finding?A. SupportiveB. Doubtful.C. Unclear.D. Objective.DHave you ever done something that was really dangerous just because you thought it was safe?Maybe you did a dangerous trick on your bicycle or skateboard because you were wearing a helmet and thought you couldn’t get hurt. The psychology(心理) of this sort of behavior is called the Peltzman Effect, named after Sam Peltzman, professor of economics at the University of Chicago. Peltzman believes that those moments when people think they are the safest are the times when they act most dangerously.Peltzman said that people drove more dangerously when they wore seat belts(安全带) . Driving a large four-wheel drive vehicle has a similar effect on drivers’ behavior. Because drivers of large vehicles sit up higher and can see better, they feel they can make better judgments when they drive. They are better protected inaccidents,so they act more dangerously. This makes driving morehazardousto other drivers. The Peltzman Effect isn’t just limited to driving. In 1972, the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) passed a law requiring child safety caps on most medicine bottles. The safety caps were designed to prevent children from accidentally taking the medicine, especially painkillers such as aspirin. Requiring safety caps sounded like a great idea, but there was an unexpected side effect. Because the safety caps are so hardto take off, some people leave them off altogether.Worse, some parents leave the bottles where kids can reach them because they feel that it is safe because of the cap. A study on the Peltzman Effect showed that more than 3,500 children have been harmedby aspirin because of the safety caps. The Peltzman Effect describes how we’re likely to take more risks and act more dangerously when we feel safest. What’s more, the effects of these behaviors can be quite different from what we expect.12. What is the Peltzman Effect?A. People behave less safely when they feel safe.B. People feel safest when they are under protection.C. Something that seems dangerous turns out to be safe.D. People who act dangerously are likely to be together.13. What does the underlined word“hazardous”in Paragraph 2 mean?A. Interesting.B. Expensive.C. Dangerous.D. Important.14. Medicine bottles with safety caps ________.A. are required throughout the worldB. meet the demands of the Peltzman EffectC. sell well in the worldD. are not completely safe15. Also, children who slept for shorter periods at night were more likely to be associated with borderline personality disorder at ages 11 and 12.The research, published in the journalJAMA Psychiatry, was the first time possible links between early childhood sleep problems and adolescent psychotic experiences and borderline personality disorder (BPD) symptoms have been examined.“We know from previous research that persistent nightmares in children have been associated with both psychosis and borderline personality disorder,” said lead author Isabel at theInstituteofMental Healthat theUniversityofBirmingham.“But nightmares don’t tell the whole story. We’ve found that, in fact, a number of behavioral sleep problems in childhood can point towards these problems in adolescence,” she said.Adolescence, typically defined as the ages between 10 and 19, is a key period in human development because of brain and hormonal changes, anditis now thought to be when many mental health problems start.Prior research inAustraliafound that babies with persistent severe sleep problems in their first year were at greater risk for anxiety and emotional issues in later childhood. Sleep problems in children and adolescents have been shown to predict the development of various emotional and behavioral problems, including depression, anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, risk-taking and aggression. However, findings have been inconsistent, especially when based on objective measurements of sleep, rather than parental reports.Sleep and mental health are closely connected in adults, with sleep problems increasing the risk for developing particular mental illnesses as well as resulting in mental health issues.4. What can we know from paragraph 3?A. Childhood sleep problems probably cause youth mental health problems.B. Severe sleep problems in childhood lead to emotional issues.C. Persistent nightmares in children are closely related to psychosis.D. The research has not been known to the public.5. What does “it” refer to in paragraph 6?A. Adolescence.B. Key period.C. Human developmentD. Hormonal change.6. According to the Australian research, older children who had long-term serious sleep issues at one year old are more likely to ________.A. grow slowlyB. develop attention-deficit hyperactivity disorderC. do badly in lessonsD. suffer from anxiety7. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A. A Study About Childhood Sleep Problems Is Under ProgressB. Pay Attention to Children Who Lack SleepC. Childhood Sleep Issues Linked to Adolescent Mental Health ProblemsD. How to Help Children Develop a Good Sleep HabitCThe beach may seem like an inviting place to run on a cool summer morning, but is running on the sand good for your body? It can be, but it’s important to be aware of the challenges that some beach runners experience before you get ready.Running on the beach can be a good thing. It’s certainly different from running on a track or a pavement. For starters, sand can be a challenge because it has an uneven (不平坦的) surface. As you push off, you’re going to lose some of your push as the sand moves. So, you’re not going to be able to push yourself forward as you would on a track or a pavement. But this unevenness has anupside: It gives your body an extra workout, forcing you to exercise muscles that don’t get as much use during runs on firm surfaces. For example, your feet, ankles and lower back might feel sorer and more tired than usual after a beach run just because the surface is constantly moving and changing step to step. You also might feel sore afterward because beaches tend to slope (倾斜) down to the water. If you’re going for a long run on the beach, you might notice that one side of your body might feel sorer because you’re putting more pressure on it due to the slope. Some beach runners prefer to run barefoot — not wearing anything on feet. However, if you’re not used to barefoot running, start slowly and don’t run long distances at first. That’s because running barefoot uses more different muscles than running with shoes does, and it’s important to strengthen these muscles and adapt your feet. If you want to run barefoot and as long as you run carefully enough into it, go for it!Running on the sand can be a smart choice for you, because running on softer ground surfaces can reduce muscle damage.8. Why is it difficult to run on the beach for starters?A. The soft surface makes people fall over easily.B. People need to run carefully on its smooth surface.C. Running on its uneven surface takes much effort.D. It’s hard to keep one’s balance on its hard surface.9. Which of the following best explains “upside” underlined in Paragraph 2?A. Advantage.B. Reason.C. Character.D. Challenge.10. What’s the author’s attitude to barefoot running?A. Critical.B. Supportive.C. Doubtful.D. Uncaring.11. The passage can probably be found in ______.A. A primary school textbookB. A tourist guideC. A sports magazineD. A scientific reportDSometimes people make history. George Washington became the first president of theUnited Statesand made history. Sometimes wars make history. The two World Wars are examples. Sometimes nature even becomes part of history. Shaking earthquakes are recorded in history books.Sixteen years ago, nature caused just such a history-making event. In September 2005, Hurricane Katrina came ashore inNew Orleans,Louisiana. The deadly storm floodedNew Orleans. Before Katrina, no other big American city had ever flooded in the history of the country. This natural disaster caused great harm and death.New Orleansis located below sea level. This location places it at great risk. Levees were built to protectNew Orleansfrom the ocean. (A levee is like a wall between the city and the ocean.) When Hurricane Katrina came ashore, water moved over the levees into the city. Flooding made it necessary for everyone to leave the city. Before Katrina, Creole food (a special kind of cooking only inLouisiana) filled the air with delicious smells. Thesound of jazz music traveled through the streets. Now the city has to return to its former glory. Before Katrina, ernment had never made everyone leave a city. People inNew Orleanshad to find shelter quickly. Some had to stay at theSuperdomeSportsCenter. Some rode on buses to other towns. Thousands drove their cars to get away from the storm. The roads and shelters filled up fast. The lesson learned from Katrina was that cities must be better prepared for big storms and other terrible disasters caused by nature. Being prepared might have kept more people safe. Hurricane Katrina is one of the history-making events that will be remembered forever. Today, history is still being made that will shape the future.12. What does the author tell us aboutNew Orleans?A. It was built above sea level.B. It had few jazz musicians after Katrina.C. It was the firstU.S.city that had been flooded.D. It created a wholly new way to cook after Katrina.13. What can we say about the levees?A. They were almost useless for fighting Katrina.B. They helped people leaveNew Orleansquickly.C. They made NewOrleansa special American city.D. They should be built to match the size ofNew Orleans.14. What might the author advise city governments to do?A. Put up more shelters in the city.B. Build more levees around the city.C. Teach people how to avoid floods.D. Try to get ready for natural disasters.15. What is the best title for the text?A. Storms are dangerousB. Katrina makes historyC. Floods shapeLouisianaD. But in the French-speaking Democratic Republic ofthe Congo, “to throw a camel” is a way of saying “to make a spelling mistake”.In the past, a phrase like that was not accepted by the French government as an official French term. But recently, the French Ministry of Culture worked on a new kind of dictionary that accepts the idea that many people outside of France speak the language. The language has changed over time and is different in places like Ivory Coast in West Africa or Quebec in Cana-da, compared to how it is in ParisA new online dictionary, called the French speakers’ dictionary, includes new French words from around the world. It was released on March 18—just in time for International French Speaker’s Day on March 20.Supporters say the new Internet dictionary is more democratic than earlier French dictionaries that only showed the way highly educated French people spoke. The new dictionary includes unofficial words like “pourriel”, which means an unwanted email if you are in Canada. It is a word based on “courriel”, which just means an email.French President Emmanuel Macron proposed the idea of the dictionary in 2018. It now contains about 600.000 terms, Roselyne Bachelot is the French Culture Minister. She said the dictionary is not just for France's 67 million citizens, but for the 300 million French speakers worldwide. The aim, supporters say, is to recognize the way language changes. Words and expressions included in the dictionary come from over 50 countries—even from the United States Some people in the southern U. S. state of Louisiana speak French.People can see the dictionary on a website or with an app. Users can also send in new words they think should be included. Regard it as an official dictionary.C“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.” That’s a common expression, but the next time you throw something away, think about a twist on the old saying. What if your trash could become your own treasure? Many creative, thrifty, and environmentally minded people have come up with a way to makethathappen. It’s called upcycling. Our world would be a better place if everyone would begin upcycling.Upcycling is the practice of taking an unwanted item and turning it into something useful. For example, how about that pair of jeans with a hole in one knee? It could become a new pillow for your bedroom.Upcycling is not the same as recycling. Upcycling is actually much better for the environment. Recycling takes an item made of glass, paper, metal, or plastic, breaks it down to its base material, and then uses that material to make another product. This requires a great deal of energy. On the other hand, when you choose to upcycle, the only energy you use is your own. And upcycling not only reduces the amount of trash that goes into our landfills, but it also protects natural resources, such as oil and gas. Recycling is good for the environment, but upcycling is even better.Upcycling also makes a family’s budget stretch further. Of course, the idea of reusing items to save money is not new. During the Great Depression in the 1930s, many families lived on a tight budget. People had to use what they already had in order to meet their needs. As responsible citizens, we should all be concerned with protecting our environment and budgeting our resources. Upcycling is a fun and creative way to help. The next time you go to toss something into the trash can, stop and think about what it could become. Chances are, there’s a brand-new item in your hand just waiting to be upcycled.8. Why does the author mention an old saying in the first paragraph?A. To arise reader’s awareness of upcycling.B. To stress the importance of upcycling.C. To lead in the topic of upcycling.D. To show the idea of upcycling.9. Which one below belongs to upcycling?A. An old ladder is transformed into a bookshelf.B. Old tin cans are transported to landfill.C. A broken wooden door is chopped up.D. Old cloth is made into a paper bed.10. What is the difference between recycling and upcycling?A. Upcycling is much more creative.B. Recycling is much easier to achieve.C. Recycling is much more cost-saving.D. Upcycling is much more energy-efficient.11. What can be inferred from the text?A. Upcycling is popular at present.B. Upcycling is replacing recycling.C. Upcycling is worth recommending.D. Upcycling is a tradition in daily life.DScientists have recently discovered thatAndean condors (秀鹫)— some of the world’s largest birds——barely flap their wings at all while flying. Instead, they use rising air currents to remain in the air for hours. The Andean condor is the world’s largest soaring bird. They can weigh up to 15 kilograms. Their wings, when spread out, measure up to three meters. Their main food source is the meat of large animals which have died. Soaring high in the sky allows condors to easily spot possible meals on the ground.Scientists worked together to study the flight patterns of these huge birds and how much effort the birds use when flying. To study the birds while they were in the sky, the researchers attached special devices which couldrecord every beat of their wings. The scientists learned that most of the condors’ flapping— over 75%— came when the birds were taking off. Once in the sky, the birds flew for very long periods of time without flapping at all. In fact, they only flapped their wings for 1% of the time they were in the air. One bird flew for over five hours without flapping, covering nearly 117miles.Soaring without flapping is important because birds bum energy every time they flap their wings. The birds’ soaring isn’t magic. They use the fact that hot air rises to keep themselves up. As hot air rises, it often creates “thermals”— currents of warm air moving upward. The condors soar by making use of these thermals. The tricky part is finding thermals and moving between them. When birds are forced to land and take off again often, it costs them a lot of energy. The researchers learned that to avoid having to land, the condors did most of their non-take-off flapping when they were closer to the ground and looking for a new thermal. The scientists reported that even though all of the condors they studied were young, they knew well how to take advantage of the air currents.12. What can we learn about the Andean condor from the text?A. They live mairly on small animals.B. Their wingspan is at least three meters.C. They rely on hot air to remain high in the sky.D.
