高考英语一轮复习语言朋友(13)课时作业(含分析)北师大版阅读理解Several years ago, I had to replace a receptionist for my unit. Before I advertised for the position, I was approached by another manager, and asked if Iwould consider a transfer from his staff instead of opening a new competition.Mynatural question was to ask who he wanted me to consider and why.It appeared from his description of this employee, Maria, that she was havinga lot of problems performing her duties, and had difficulties with her boss, anddid not appear to respond to any attempts he, the manager, had made to settle theissues. Now, after listening to his explanation, I really had severe doubts.Whatcrossed my mind, after this discussion, was that he wanted me to take a problem off his hands.I told him I would think about it and would let him know the next day.As promised, after thinking more about this potential performance issue, I decided that I would agree to speak with Maria privately before I made any decision. And, what I found out during this interview, left me deep in thought. As it turned out, the performance issue appeared to result from working for a boss who neverextended a good morning, greeting, never gave a word of encouragement, and wasconstantly changing the work load and routines. The end result was a totally ruined employee who was unconfident, hated to see a new work day start.I decided to accept her transfer to my unit. What started out as a shy, withdrawn and frightened employee turned out to be one of the most productive and loyal employee that I had ever worked with.Maria couldn't do enough and was constantly asking for more and more responsibility.I was more than happy to give her what she needed-praise for work well done, respect as a person, and encouragement for doing well in anything she dealt with.Sometimes, we are guilty of holding others back from accomplishing or doing,or developing as they should or could. It may be a wise idea that we all look in the mirror, from time to time, to see what we are really like.解题导语:赐予尊敬、夸奖和鼓舞后,作者把他人以为是麻烦的职工转变为了好职工。

语言朋友(5)阅读理解Imagine this:your child has just been involved in an emergency. You call 911.The medical workers rush in and begin asking you questions as they work to rescue your child. But they also ask questions about your child's medical history. It's hard to think clearly. You begin to answer and then end up saying,“I don't remember.I don't know.〞 So,many doctors suggest that parents keep a record of their children's important health facts handy. This can often help the medical team make a better and more rapid diagnosis (诊断) of a problem at a time when time really counts. The most important information to know is the child's allergies (过敏).It is especially crucial if the child is allergic to any medicine — penicillin, for example.Food allergies can come into play, too,so make note of those as well.Children who have been hospitalized in the past may have developed latex (胶乳) allergies.Often this information can help emergency workers find a cause for problems like breathing difficulties.Keep a list of any medicine, including what your child is now taking. Some medicines can cause an adverse reaction when they are taken together,so the doctors need this information before they give your child anything. You'll need to know when the child took the medicine last and how much was taken. It is also important to tell emergency workers about any health problem or illness your child has had. These preexisting conditions can have a huge effect on the type of tests and treatment in an emergency.Consider having any child who has a health problem wear a tag(标签)around his neck. This kind of rapid notice can help doctors who are providing emergency care, especially if your child suddenly becomes ill at day care, school,or a friend's house.解题导语:孩子突然患病或出现意外需要急救时,医生往往会问到孩子的一些情况以与既往病史等,因此父母应该在平时多记录孩子的此类相关情况。

语言朋友(20)阅读理解English is an important global language, but that doesn't mean it's easy to learn. Many experts have tried to make English easier for students to learn-but they weren't always successful. In 1930, Professor CK Ogden of Cambridge University invented Basic English. It had only 850 words (and just eighteen verbs) and Ogden said most people could learn it in just thirty hours. The problem was that people who learned Basic English could write and say simple messages, but they couldn't understand the answers in “real” English! It was also impossible to explain a word if it wasn't in the Basic English word list. For example, if you wanted a watermelon, you asked for “a large green fruit with the form of an egg, which has a sweet red inside and a good tas te”!RE Zachrisson, a university professor in Sweden, decided that the biggest problem for learners of English was spelling, so he invented a language called Anglic.Anglic was similar to English, but with much simpler spelling.“Father” became “faadher”,“new” became “nue” and “years” became “yeerz”.Unfortunately for some students of English, Anglic never became popular.Even easier is the language which ships'captains use; it's called “Seaspeak”.Seaspeak uses a few simple phrases for every possible situation. In Seaspeak, for example you don't say, “I'm sorry what did you say?” or “I didn't understand, can you repeat that?” ...it's just, “Say again.” No more grammar! In the age of international communication through the Internet, who knows what a new form of English might appear.A large number of the world's emails are in English and include examples of “NetLingo” like OIC (Oh, I see) and TTYL (Talk to you later). In another fifty years, English as we know it might not exist ...we will probably all speak fluent Internetish!解题导语:为了降低英语学习的难度,专家们尝试了几种简化英语的办法,但并不总能成功。

参考词汇:国际交往 international exchangesDear editor,___________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________________Yours,Li Long 【参考范文】Dear_editor,Many people think body language in international exchanges is very useful. They argue that body language, which makes international exchanges more interesting, is easily understood and makes us comfortable. However, some people think that body language should not be used frequently since different countries have different body language. It is likely to be misunderstood and bring us some trouble. Often, bodylanguage cannot express a person's meaning as clearly as words can. As far as I am concerned, body language is one of the most powerful means of communication, often even more powerful than spoken language. We should use body language during international exchanges carefully and in a way that everyone can understand.Yours,Li_Long。
