Thirty years ago, my grandparents wrote letters to their friends and
family. Grandpa worked in the city and Grandma lived in the
country, so they wrote to each other. It took one week to deliver
the letter. When Grandma asked a question in her letter, it took

1. They are either too low or too high for us.
either…or…意为“或者……或者……；不是……就是……”，用来连接句中两个并列的成分。连接两个名词或代词作主语时，谓语动词的形式应遵循就近原则。例如：

He wants to visit either London or Paris. 他想去伦敦或是巴黎游览一下。
