美 国 国 家 科 学 基 金 会 NSF （ National Science Foundation）于1986年建立了NSFnet，它是Internet 发展中的又一个先驱。NSF在全美国建立了按地区划 分的计算机广域网并将这些地区的网络和超级计算机 中心互联起来，并与ARPAnet相连。NFSnet于1990年 彻底取代了ARPAnet而成为Internet的主干网。在此 期间，NSF投入了大量经费支持NSFnet的发展，并支 付了大量的线路租用费。NSFnet的形成和发展，使它 成 为 Internet 的 最 重 要 的 组 成 部 分 。 NSFnet 对 Internet的最大贡献是使Internet向全社会开放，在 此期间许多国家也相继建立了本国的主干网并接入 Internet，比如加拿大的CANET、欧洲的EBONE、日本 的WIDE等。
3．商业化网络阶段
1995年，NSFnet结束了它作为Internet主干网的 历史使命，Internet从学术性网络转化为商业性网络。

1.1 认识计算机网络
计算机网络至今已有大概60年的历史，从具有通信功能的单机系统网 络到能够共享资源的多机系统网络，到具有协议的规范化网络，再到应用 广泛的互联网。计算机网络的发展历史大致可以分为以下四个阶段。
1.1 认识计算机网络
资源共享包括硬件资源、软件资源和数据资源的共享。
• 硬件资源：常见的硬件资源有服务器，打印机等设备资源。这些设备比 较昂贵，如果能进行网络共享，将减少很多资金消耗。多个用户共享一 台服务器，用户工作站可以不必安装硬盘，所有文件都在服务器上，管 理员可以备份所有用户的数据；共享的打印机可以使得整个网络用户共 享使用，而不必为每台计算机都配备一台打印机；其他的外设如扫描仪， 汇图仪等都可以实现共享。
1.1 认识计算机网络
第四阶段：网络国际化阶段。80年代的计算机网络已经有了相当的发展， 尤其是广域网中Internet（因特网）的广泛使用，网络已成为人类获取资源 与信息的最方便的一种手段。

Internet的发展
1972年，ARPAnet在首届计算机后台通信国际会议上首次与公众 见面，并验证了分组交换技术的可行性，由此，ARPAnet成为现 代计算机网络诞生的标志。 ARPAnet在技术上的另一个重大贡献 是TCP/IP协议簇的开发和使用。 1980年， TCP/IP协议即成为UNIX操作系统的标准通信模块。 1983年，ARPANet分为ARPANet和军用MILNET（Military Network），两个网络之间可以进行通信和资源共享。 1986年，NSF（美国国家科学基金会，National Science Foundation）建立了自己的计算机通信网络。
