Literature was awarded to Mo Yan“ who with hallucinatory(幻觉) realism merges folk
tales, history and the contemporary".So Mo
Yan has become the first Chinese writer who got the honour.And his competitor is Haruki Murakami(村上春树) from Japan.

He is a very hardworking writer and has received lots of prizes in China before.
One of Mo Yan's works , Red Sorghum, got the famous director, Zhang Yimou's attention and he made it into a movie. Finally this movie got the 38th Berlin International Festival's Golden Bear Award.
After the big news, all books of Mo Yan become quite popular among China and many other countries.Several of his works are even out of stock in the bookstores. However, the other interesting fact which is opposite to the popularity is that according to a survey online, many Chinese didn't know this name before his getting the award.
