Most dinosaurs were plant-eaters. The Apatosaurus, for example, had a long thin neck so that it could eat leaves from trees. Other dinosaurs were meat-eaters. The Tyrannosaurus Rex killed smaller dinosaurs for food.Dinosaurs were real animals that once lived on the earth, but they died out about 65 million years ago. The disappearance of the dinosaurs is in some way a great mystery. Some scientists think that the climate(气候)changed suddenly. Fossils (化石)of trees tell us that the temperature dropped a lot and that the level of the sea dropped as well. This means that it got suddenly much colder. Perhaps the dinosaurs were too slow to change with the climate.A new idea is that a meteor(流星)crashed into the earth. Scientists discovered a place in Mexico where they think the meteor crashed. They think that there was a lot of dust from the meteor. The dust landed on the plants. Also the dust blocked (阻挡)the sun's light for as long as five years. Many animals, including dinosaurs were plant-eaters, and perhaps the dust killed them. This means there was nothing left for meat-eating dinosaurs to eat, and so they died out. But, as many animals from that time didn’t die, we are not 100% sure what really happened.1. What is the subject discussed in the text?A. The two types of dinosaursB. A meteor crashed into the earthC. Dinosaurs, the real animals living millions of years agoD. The probable reasons for dinosaurs’ disappearance2. What are the two possible explanations to the dinosaurs’ disappearance?A. Temperature dropping and sea level droppingB. Climate changing and meteor's crashingC. The dropping of temperature and sea levelD. Climate changing and the dust blocking the sun3. What is the direct cause of the disappearance of meat-eating dinosaurs?A. A meteor's crashingB. The dust blocking the sunC. The plant-eating dinosaurs’ deathD. It is still unknown【课后预习】找出文章中的重点单词,并在下一个导学案中进行记录。

1) They had already had breakfast before they arrived at the hotel.

2) H e didn’t go to bed until he had finished he work.

1) When I woke up, it had stopped raining.

(主句的动作发生在“过去的过去”)2) He had left when I arrived.

1) She told me that she had written a new novel.

(had written 发生在 told 之前 )2) I found the watch which I had lost.

此时多与 already,yet,still,just,before,never 等时间副词及 by,before,until 等引导的短语或从句连用。

例如:1) Before she came to China, Amy had taught English in a middle school for aboutfive years.

2) Tom had collected more than 300 Chinese stamps by the time he was seven.

1) By the end of last year, my father had worked in the factory for twenty yea rs.

( had worked 已有了 20 年,还有继续进行下去的可能)2) By six o’clock he had worked eleven hours.

1) I had wanted to help but could not get there in time.

2) They had hoped to be able to come and see you.

6.过去完成时还可用在hardly … when …, no sooner… than …, It was the first(second, etc) time (that) …

1) Hardly had he began to speak when the audience interrupted him.

2) No sooner had he arrived than he went away again.

3) It was the third time that she had been out of work that year.

2) 过去完成时还可用在hardly … when …, n o sooner … than …, It was the first (second, etc) time (that)…

3)It/This was +序数词 time或最高级 that 后面的从句用过去完成时。

1) I have cleaned the clas sroom.

(强调扫地所产生的结果:地干净了!)2) They have lived here for twenty years.

(“住”从过去持续到现在的动作用现在完成时)3) We have lived in Beijing since we came China.

1) Mr Smith had lived in London for ten years before he came to China.

(“来”中国已成过去,而先前“住”在纽约就是过去的过去!)2) We had learned 2000 words by the end of last term.

1. When Li Ming hurried home, he found that his mother ____already ____to hospital.A. has; been sentB. had; sentC. has; sentD. had; been sent2.
