That made me cry a lot.Not only were there tons of Covid cases, but we also had to take care of people with other diseases and injuries like normal. So along with the Covid patients, we had cancer patients, heart attack victims, kids with broken arms, and every other kind of sick or hurt person you can imagine. The hospital never stopped being extremely crowded and busy.Sometimes I didn't have time to go to the bathroom or drink any water because I was running around so much helping people all day. My body was so tired and achy at the end of each night. I often worked 7 days in a row before getting a day off.Not everyone was very nice to us nurses either. A lot of grumpy people would yell at me that I wasn't helping them fastenough or giving them good enough care. One time a patient's family member got so mad at me that they threw a tray of food across the room! I don't deserve to be treated like that. I was just trying my best.I also got sick a couple of times from being around so many illnesses. One time I caught a horrible flu that made me throw up for days. Another time, I wasn't careful enough and got Covid myself! I was so feverish and exhausted for 2 whole weeks. That was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through.Another challenging part of my job was having to learn about and use a lot of new medical treatments and technologies. Doctors and scientists kept discovering new medicines and new equipment to better treat Covid and other diseases. I had to go through tons of training on all the new stuff we were using.Remembering how to use all the different machines, IVs, inhalers, oxygen masks, and other tools was really hard. Making sure to give patients the right dosage of each new medicine was scary too since I'm just a kid. I was always afraid I would make a mistake that could really hurt someone.Speaking of being just a kid, that made my job even more exhausting. I would be utterly drained by the end of each shift, but then had tons of school work to do! After being on my feetall day at the hospital, I'd have to go home and spend hours on homework, reading, and studying. Then I'd have to wake up very early the next morning to go back to the hospital. Ugh, I barely got any sleep!But you know, even though it was insanely difficult, I did my best to stay positive and take great care of my patients. Seeing people get better and go home was the best feeling. Knowing that my hard work possibly saved someone's life is a huge reward. Some of my patients and their families were also extremely nice and grateful for my help, which made me feel really good.These last two years of the pandemic have been some of the craziest times for hospitals and nurses. We were completely overwhelmed! But we did everything possible to treat everyone who came through those doors. Us nurses are heroes, even kid nurses like me! I'll never forget this one old man who just kept asking for his wife to come see him one last time. But we couldn't let her in because of all the rules to keep people safe. Seeing how heartbroken they both were...it still makes me want to cry justthinking about it. Having to deal with so much sickness and death was definitely the biggest difficulty.But you know what? Even when things got really hard and I felt like giving up, I had my amazing nurse friends right there beside me. We'd cry together sometimes after a long shift, but then we'd built each other's spirits back up. We looked out for one another and made sure nobody had to face the toughest days alone. I'm so thankful for my work besties!As ugly as the pandemic was, it did have oneкinda cool side effect - I got to be a part of making history! Think about it, we were ones doing all the tough jobs to help people while the world was facing this crazy once-in-a-lifetime event. How many kids get to say they lived through something like that? It was neat feeling like I was helping write the story that everyone will read about in history books someday.Of course, the personal protective equipment (that's what we call all those masks, gowns, and gloves) was a major pain to wear. Shifting was absolutely exhausting with all that hot, sweaty layers on for 12 hours straight. Not to mention, my hands got so wrinkly from washing them about a million times per day. I'll never forget the brands of lotion that got me through that dry skin struggle!Another tricky part was having to be super cautious about keeping my germs away from my family after work. I'd have this whole routine of stripping down in the garage, shoving my clothes in the washer, and immediately taking a shower as soon as I got home. I missed getting to snuggle my baby nephew when he was first born because I was too afraid I'd accidentally get him sick. It was a bummer, but I knew it was important to be safe.As if that wasn't enough hassle, trying to get basic supplies like soap, disinfecting wipes, and protective gowns was a nightmare those first few months. Everywhere was out of stock, and we'd all be sharing just a few boxes of gloves between an entire floor of patients. We'd make gameshows out of trying to stretch resources as far as we could. Looking back, I can't believe we made it through with such short supplies!Thankfully, as more people got vaccinated over the last year or so, things have gotten a little better. There is S-duality between the split membrane and the dual superstring. The membrane interacts strongly at the high energy, when the dual lepton-quark superstring interacts weakly. The four dimensional version of S-duality is Montonen-Olive duality [4] where the magnetic dipole is split into magnetic monopoles, and electrons and quarks arise as solitons. M. Duff and J. Lu [5] suggested the U-duality between the four dimensional space-time solitonic string in six dimensional space-time and the fundamental ten dimensional superstring. In the same way, the dual lepton-quark superstring can also have two four dimensional space-time solitonic strings in two seven dimensional space-time. All leptons, quarks, and gauge bosons can be placed in the periodic table of elementary particles. The periodic table is derived from dualities of string theory and a Kaluza-Klein substructure for the six extra spatial dimensions. As a molecule is the composite of atoms with chemical bonds, a hadron is the composite of elementary particles with hadronic bonds. The masses of elementary particles and hadrons can be calculated using the periodic table with only four known constants: the number of the extra spatial dimensions in the superstring, the mass of electron, the mass of Z°, and αe. The calculated masses are in good agreement with the observed values. For examples, the calculated masses for the top quark, neutron, and pion are 176.5 GeV, 939.54MeV, and 135.01MeV in excellent agreement with the observed masses, 176 ± 13 GeV, 939.57 MeV, and 134.98 MeV, respectively. The masses of 110 hadrons are calculated. The overall average difference between the calculated masses and the observed masses for all hadrons is 0.29 MeV. The periodic table of elementary particles provides the most comprehensive explanation and calculation for the masses of elementary particles and hadrons. All elementary particles are placed in the periodic table of elementary particles [1]. Introduction The mass hierarchy of elementary particles is one of the most difficult
problems in particle physics. There are various approaches to solve the problem. In this paper, the approach is to use a periodic table. The properties of atoms can be expressed by the periodic relationships in the periodic table of the elements. The periodic table of the elements is based on the atomic orbital structure. Do elementary particles possess orbital structure? In this paper, the orbital structure for elementary particles is constructed from the superstring. The extra dimensions in the superstring become the orbits with the Kaluza-Klein substructure. In the Kaluza’s model of five-dimensional spacetime, the fifth dimension is considered to be a one-dimensional circle associated with every point in ordinary flat fourdimensional spacetime. Similarly, in the Kaluza-Klein substructure for the extra spatial dimensions, the fifth dimension is a one-dimensional circle associated with every point in ordinary flat four-dimensional spacetime, the sixth dimension circles the circle of the fifth dimension, and in the same way, every higher dimension circles the circle of the lower dimension. The energy is assumed to be distributed differently in different dimensions in such way that the energy increases with increased number of spacetime dimensions. This Kaluza-Klein substructure is derived from the duality relations for the superstring. These duality relations
