一、 学生分析
经过本单元前几课的学习，学生了解了网络空间、网络广告等方面的知识，知道网络
对学习生活的作用；也掌握了一些与网络相关的词汇和常用语，为本课开展阅读作了准备。另外，学生通过模块一的学习，掌握了一些阅读技巧（The reading skills include: How
to work out meaning, how to organize group work），这些阅读技巧将会有效地帮助学生进行网络阅读，完成阅读任务。学生会对本课的学习内容虚拟旅游(Virtual Tourism)和学习形式网络阅读（Reading on the Internet）很感兴趣。由于学生所掌握的阅读策略和方法还不够，网络阅读的经验不足，所以需要更多的指导和帮助。
二、教材分析
(一)、知识背景 Background Knowledge
本单元围绕Cyberspace(网络空间) 这一主题开展听、说、读、写多种教学活动。网络空间作为人类文明的一大体现，作为当今社会人们主要获取信息，人际交往、沟通，商贸，休闲、娱乐等的方式之一，是一个非常贴近生活、具有时代性、可挖掘性的教学主题。
本单元所选的语言素材涉及未来网络空间、网站、网络广告、虚拟世界、虚拟旅游等，
具有典型的时代气息，有利于学生了解网络文化，增强世界意识。正如新课程标准中的教学建议所提：语言的学习要“拓展学生的文化视野，发展他们跨文化交际的意识和能力”；在利用现代教育技术浏览网页、在虚拟空间翱翔的教学过程中，“拓宽了学生学习和运用英语的渠道”；同时本单元的教学对教师本身的网络文化修养、中外文化修养和广阔的知识面等方面有非常高的要求，体现了师生共同不断更新知识结构以适应现代社会发展对英语课程的要求的“与时俱进”的理念和思想。
（二）教学内容及材料
本课主题是虚拟旅游，是一篇介绍性的阅读材料，具体介绍新西兰城市奥克兰的历史、旅游等信息，文中有许多相关的图片帮助学生了解内容；除此以外，文中还有一些热字
