很多自认为英语不错的同学，到了国外（比如美国），会发现国内学的英语在那里完全不好使。
他们的习惯表达方式，我们在国内完全没有接触过；我们在国内学习的口语表达，似乎他们都不用，比如：在美国，两个人相互道别不说goodbye，而说Have a nice day；想上个厕所，不说I would like to go to the toilet，而是My nature calls。
今天我为大家整理了十个很常见的“小词”，你很可能不知道它们在美国口语中的用法。
thing
这个词在我们脑海中的第一印象是：东西、事物；但你可能不知道，在美式英文中，该词还能这样用：
I notice he has a thing for you.?我留意到他似乎对你有意思。
这里的thing表示“喜欢一个人的那种东西”。
Being funny is Chandler's thing and Ross's thing is getting divorced.?
钱德勒的特长是搞笑；而罗斯的特长是离婚。
这句话来自美剧《老友记》。
这里thing可以理解为“某人最显着的特质”，即让别人想到你就能联想起来的东西。
to buy
这个词我们很熟悉吧，表示“购买”。
但在美语中还能表示“相信（某种说法）”的意思，比如：

但在美国英语中，这个词经常被用作副词，放置在一句话的最后，表一种转折关系，看例子：
