Step1 Free talk
What’s this?
It’s a book.
Whose book is it?
It’s …’s.
Write the sentences on the blackboard: It’s a book. The book is …’s.
Step2 Presentation
We use a or an when we mention a person or thing for the first time. We use the before a noun
when the person or thing is mentioned again, or when we are talking about a specific person or
thing.
Show some pictures and ask students to say something about the pictures:
This is a Panda House. We can see some pandas.
Look, here is panda. The panda is eating bamboo.
Here’s a panda too. What’s the panda doing? (The panda is lying on the grass.)
Here is a baby panda. How cute! It’s so small. But the baby panda doesn’t look like its mother.
Step3 Practice

Have a free talk with your partner, try to use a, an and the. 2. Text book Page 47: Fun in the zoo
Ask students to complete the conversation with “a, an, the”. Then check the answers.
3. Read and act out the conversation.

birthday? Do you want to have a birthday party? 引入本课时语言情景。教师继续问学生：
Where will you have the party?
What food will you have?
Who will you invite to your party?
How will you invite your friends to your party?
2. 教师可继续提问，呈现新知识。告诉学生，如果想邀请老师长辈，要用比较正式的邀请方式，引入邀请函的话题。
Who are you going to invite to your birthday party? If you want to invite
your teachers to your party, you should write them an invitation
letter. It’s a polite and formal way.
