2. 转换法
• 英语商贸契约中许多定语结构, 如果用汉语的定语结构来翻 译, 常使译文显得拖泥带水, 翻译腔很浓, 不够简洁顺畅, 有 时甚至造成语义含混, 产生歧义。其原因在于汉语的定语结 构是各种句子成分中最拘谨, 语气最短促的成分。它的载荷 能力很差, 不能像英语的定语从句那样随意安排, 一般不能 带有自己的状语结构; 一个名词前有多个定语的现象也不多 见。而且它必须置于名词之前, 用“的”、“之”等词语与 名词连接。与之相反, 英语的定语结构是各种句子成分中最 灵活的成分。因此, 英语中复杂的定语如果无法用汉语的定 语结构顺畅地译成中文时, 可以设法摆脱汉语定语结构的束 缚, 根据主句和从句之间深层结构上的逻辑关系, 将英语的 定语转译成汉语的主谓结构, 并列结构或状语结构, 以增强 其载荷能力。
