2013年1月，中国互联网络信息中心（CNNIC）提供的“中国互联网络发展状况统计报告”中指出，截至2011年12月底，中国网民规模突破5亿，达到5.13亿，全年新增网民5580万。
互联网普及率较上年提升4个百分点，达到38.3%。
在这些网络使用者中年龄在20到29岁的所占百分比为29.8%，比其它年龄段的数量都要大很多。
从使用者的职业结构来看，学生占最大的百分比为30.2%。
可见，网络在学生的生活和学习中发挥着越来越大的作用。
上网的时候，人们有着各种各样的目的：获取信息、学习、娱乐、交朋友、满足心理需要、网上贸易和网上购物等等。
其中获取资源是最主要的目的。
多媒体学习也已经广泛的应用于英语学习，没有人能够忽视网络对人们生活的影响。
借助网络教学平台以及网络资源开展英语自主学习在国内高校已经非常普遍,但在业余时间利用网络进行英语自主学习、去获取信息或阅读英语资料的学生并不普遍。
一方面是由于我国经济发展水平和教育发展水平的限制,还有很多大学生不能方便地使用电脑或难以承受昂贵的网费,另一方面由于很多学生对网络学习资源和网络自主学习的认识不够,对网络检索工具不了解以及计算机网络知识欠缺等因素,给网络英语学习资源的利用带来了难度,使得大学生虽然具备了利用网络自主学习和应用英语的条件,但是还不能达到普及的程度。

同其他学科一样, 在网络环境下进行的大学英语学习活动具有以下主要特点:2.1 学习的开放性计算机网络技术的迅猛发展, 使得人类认识事物、认识世界能力得到空前的提高, 认识的广度、深度得到迅速的扩大。
在网络空间中, 可以随时搜寻、获取所需要的知识, 网络可以为学习者提供大量的、多渠道的知识来源, 并且可以根据学习的需要进行任意的知识组合。
在计算机网络技术的有力支持下, 传统的、相对封闭的学习空间被打破, 学习者可以通过多种方式去获取知识, 使学习不再受到空间和时间上的限制, 可以使知识及时得到更新。
例如, 学习者可以利用英特网提供的搜索引擎, 查询最新的学科研究动态, 了解对同一问题的不同见解和分析, 下载知名学者的学术论文等。
这种具有开放性的网络英语学习环境早在20世纪中叶就有了雏形, 一些思想家, 哲学家早已预言一种新的话语构成形式必将产生。
德里达( Derride)在1967 年提出了：链接、网络、交织等今天看来属于超文本的、具有开放性、时效性概念的词语。
福柯( Foucault) 在讨论历史叙述的产生和话语形成的关系时说过反复的重新分布显露出若干个过去, 若干个关联形式, 若干个不同层级的重要性, 若干个需要决断的网络。
这就是说单一的、历时的线性的叙述方式已经不能如实地反映话语的形成过程。
人类的学习过程正是因为计算机、网络技术的飞速发展发生了巨大的变革, 那就是印刷时代的静态的文本表述让位于电子时代的动态文本, 一直延续到今天具有开放性、交互性、时效性的网络学习环境。
2.2学习的交互性网络环境下的大学英语学习也强调学习的交互性。
交互性也就是学习者在学习过程中和不同对象之间进行的各种属性的交流。
传统教学方式也具有一定程度上的交互性, 这种交互性主要体现在教师与学生之间的交流, 其交流方式比较单一, 并且容易出现教师主导交流而学生主动性发挥不够的缺陷。
在网络环境下, 学生的交互性能得到更大的发挥、更大的提高, 既可以是传统的师生之间的交流, 也可以是学生与计算机之间的/ 人机对话0,还可以是在网络环境中学生与学生之间、甚至相隔千里之外的人交流, 这样的交互活动改变了传统英语学习活动中交互活动的单一性, 使得不同对象之间参与交互活动的积极性得到提高。
3 网络环境下英语学习面临决的问题由于网络环境下的大学英语学习有着与传统学习所不同的特点, 因此在网络环境下进行大学英语学科的学习需要解决好以下主要问题:3.1 如何发挥教师的作用网络环境对学习者提供了更多自主化、个别化学习的空间, 但学习者的自主化、个别化学习并不意味着放弃教师在学习过程中的作用。
按照现代教学论、知识、思维、实践、创新的要求,不管采取什么样的方式进行学习, 教师都应该在其中发挥积极的作用。
在网络环境下进行大学英语的学习, 教师应积极发挥学习活动的设计者和组织者的作用, 通过多种方式关注学生的学习情况, 如在专门开辟的学习讨论区中及时发现学生提出的疑难问题, 指导学生展开学习讨论, 引导学生按照教师的教学设计思路去进行学习。
在网络环境中, 教师应该是整个学习过程的设计师, 在学习活动中发挥主持人的作用。
3.2 如何有效地整合各种学习资源在网络环境下进行的学习, 可供学习者使用的学习资源是丰富多样，包括文字资料、各种多媒体学习课件、网络学习课件、音像资料和网络资源。
在网络环境下, 学习所需要的知识的连接不是线性的, 而是呈网状结构, 对这些不同的学习资源, 如不能进行有效的整合, 势必造成学生面对时茫然不知如何使用的局面。
因此, 在网络环境下开展学习活动, 必须首先对各种学习资源进行有效的整合, 突出重点, 分清主次, 避免不加区别地一把抓。
在网络环境下的大学英语学习, 需要对多种教学媒体和资源进行有效的利用。
在各种教学资源中, 网络课件由于其具有的直观性、互动性、可操作性而受到学习者的普遍欢迎。
在网络环境下进行学习, 除了利用好各种现有的网络课件外, 自制网络课件也是非常重要的。
要制作出较好的大学英语学习网络课件, 要求教师熟悉以计算机技术为基础的现代教育技术，特别是多媒体技术及计算机网络技术等方面的知识, 熟悉WINDOWS操作系统, 网页制作等基本技术, 熟练掌握大学英语专用教学软件的使用。
在网络课件的制作中, 教师应主要考虑到以下主要问题: 首先是应具有完善的双向交流功能, 如根据需要设计自动应答或实时讨论系统, 确保学生在学习中出现的问题能够及时反馈到教师,同时教师能够及时了解学生的学习情况; 其次是要容易操作和学习, 避免学生由于不熟悉而迷失学习的方向; 最后是要具有生动的教学模式, 如合理使用各种音、视频、动画等资源, 吸引学生学习的兴趣和注意力以取得良好的学习效果。
3.3如何进行学习效果的评价传统的教学模式中, 对学习效果的评价主要依据学生对知识的储存量的大小, 而忽略了学生对所学知识的理解和运用, 并导致了教育过程中高分低能现象的出现。
就大学英语而言, 突出表现在学生的语言能力以及如何熟练地运用语言的能力上。
在网络环境下进行大学英语学习, 其学习观念、学习模式有了更新, 学生获取知识的途径得到了拓宽,相应的学习效果评价方式也应该得到改变, 应该主要体现在学生运用所掌握的现代学习技术去搜寻、获取和运用知识方面。
通过学习, 学生能够做到通过多种方式去获取所需要的知识, 能够将获取的知识运用到实际中去解决具体问题, 这样的学习的效果应该是我们需要积极倡导的。
