The first thing I need to do is make a portfolio, which is a collection of my best work. My portfolio should show that I am capable of creating original drawings. I also have several ideas for comic book characters. It is not enough just to draw pictures of a character in different poses, though. I need to show the publisher that I can create a story using pictures, so my portfolio should have a series of drawings that tell a story. In addition to drawing my character well, I also have to be able to draw background scenes, such as city landscapes.As many comic book writers want to work for DC Comics and Marvel, the otherlarge American comic book publisher, getting a job at one of these companies is very difficult. I might consider working for a smaller company at first.
