AI am in my father‟s house in Connecticut, sitting at a crowded table with my brother, my two sisiters and all our partners, talking about a tree.“He doesn‟t want it cut down.” My sister says when my father has gone to bed and none of us speaks of the tree in his presence. “He says he usef to climb it when he was a boy.”When I was last here, a year and a half ago, for my fat her‟s 90th birthday, Hurricane Irene drove seawater into the roads. The large tree that hangs over the houses swayed (摇摆)alarmingly, but it stayed up.Last October, Hurricane Sandy acused a great deal of damage. Six months on, many of the surrounding houses are on sale, but the tree that hangs over the house still stands.“That tree,” my brother says, “has survived the two worst storms of the last 100 years.”Though my brother thinks highly of the amazing staying power of the tree, my sister says that the tree should never have been planted: it stops light from reaching the house. My other sister‟s partner says that all trees fall down eventually. There is plenty of evidence for what he says: throughout the neighborhood, the ramains of similarly sized trees lie on their sides, with their roots in the air. During this discussion, I offer to pay a quarter of whatever is required to remove the tree.“A guy I talked to,” my brother says, “told me it could cost us$10,000.”As night wears on, the discussion becomes increaslingly meaningless. In a task that wasn‟t very tough, wolves performed must better than dogs. All the animals had to do was pull the lid off a food container, containing a sausage treat.Monique Udell studies animal behavior at Oregon State University in Corvallis. She tested 10 pet dogs and another 10 dogs from an animal shelter. In one set of tests, a person was nearby but did not encourage or discourage the dogs. Those dogs typically spent 10 to 15 percent of their time gazing at the person. They spent a mere 5 percent of their time or less touching the container.Udell offered the same challenge to wolves. These animals had been raised and fed by people but still lived outdoors. Here, the wolves didn‟t look at the nearby person. Instead, they devoted about 90 percent of the time to struggling with the box holding a treat. When someone walked around the dogs and actively encouraged them to keep trying to open the box, the dogs did spend more time handling the problem. A few more even managed to open the box. But their success rate still did not match the wolves. The dogs and wolves were also tested when no one was present. But even then, the dogs didn‟t paw or teat the box much more than they did when a human was present.29. According to paragraph 2, how did the dogs perform in the experiment?A. They showed reduced intelligenceB. They found the treat in the box less attractiveC. They found the wolves were dangerousD. They spent more time waiting for help30. What was the effect of encouragement on the dogs?A.It made their success rate improve a lotB.It made them seek less guidanceC.It made them a little more devoted to the taskD.It made them able to compete with the wolves31.What is the main idea of the text?A. How wolves and dogs differ from each otherB. The reason why wolves are dangerousC. Dogs are more relaxed when no one is aroundD. Wolves beat dogs in problem-solving testsDNoise pollution in cities is causing out health to suffer, according to the World Health Organization. Recently, researchers at the Free University of Brussels in Beigium have developed an applocation: NoiseTube. It allows everyone who downloads it the ability to measure the amount of noise they are exposed to by transforming their smart phone into a sound level meter.NoiseTube works by recording sound levels and GPS locations. Once launched the app shows decibel(分贝) levels of green or red depending on the level of noise. That information is then sent to the NoiseTube server via the Internet where a "noise map" is produced and then made available to the user.Since its launch, the app has been popular with community groups who want to monitor their own noise levels. According to D‟hondt of the Noise Tube project, these groups don‟t think that city produced noise maps give an adequate interpretation of the level of noise they‟re experiencing. City produced noise maps are based on statistical models involving very few actual measurements.NoiseTube on the other hand gives a detailed account of the level of noise experienced at a specific time and location. "Ten people walking the same area from 9 to 10 am every day for one week can make a valid(有效的) and detailed map for an area of a couple of blocks," D‟Hondt said. “It‟s reasonable effort by the community groups to produce these maps, and with it they can go to the authorit ies and have real evidence about what they‟re experiencing.”So far these sorts of noise maps have been produced for a number of European cities. The app has been downloaded by 10,000 people with 2,700 people registered on the NoiseTube website.32. How do es NoiseTube produce a “noise map?”A. The NoiseTube server analyzes noise information vis the Internet.B. The NoiseTube server analyzes noise information via GPS devices.C. Decibel levels of noise are transformed by a unique device.D. It produces a “noise map”automatically when it collects enough information.33.The reliability of city produced noise maps is questionable because __________.A. the research is based on only a few actual measurementsB. they can only be used at a specific time and locationC. their operating principles are not clearD. the collected information isn‟t enough to prove it34. Why are community groups producing noise maps?A. To make more people use noise mapsB. To prove they are useful tools to control noise pollutionC. To make the authorities aware they are experiecing noise pollutionD. To collect valid information for the researchers35. This passage is most likely to be found in ________.A. a geograph textbookB. a piece of newspaperC. a reserch reportD. a story-book第二节(共5小题:每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

However, when he was in the fourth grade, Wang had to drop out of school because his father wanted him to herd sheep to make a little bit extra. From then on, Wang only reads after a day’s work. Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Three Hundred Tang Poems were his favorite books. “There weren’t any bookstores arou nd, so I borrowed them from others. I read them so much that the pages began to tear off.” Later, Wang and his wife moved to Shijiazhuang where he set up a stall and repair bicycles for more family income. The job is not busy, so Wang has time to read. Once, he heard in a radio program that a disabled girl wrote some excellent poems. Encouraged by the story, Wang began to write his own poems on the back of the package paper of the tires with a pencil. At night, he wrote with a torch in the dark. He even got a small blackboard from the recyclers and put poems on it. He hung the chalkboard in his stall and asked the passers-by to help him improve his poems. If anybody’s advice was adopted, he would buy him or her a bottle of beer.In 2017, when Wang was invited to Chinese Poetry Congress, he thought “it was a fraud”, because he never imagined that people would appreciate the poems written by a bicycle repairer. “But it turned out to be a great experience reading my poems on the stag e.” he said. After the show, many people came to his stall to discuss poetry with him. “It feels like a dream come true. D.Actions speak louder than words. One late winter day in Manchester, UK, as I step inside the University of Salford’s latest research building, the cold 3°C air bites immediately. In fact, it’s a giant climate-controlled room, designed to test how homes built today will deal with the wilder weather climate change could bring.Inside the £16-million room, researchers can create any weather they want with the touch of a button, from -20℃ cold to 40℃ heatwaves, alongside strong winds, snow and ice. “Anywherepeople live, we can recreate those conditions,” says Fitton, who leads the Energy House 2.0 project for the university.Inside the building are two new-build homes, complete with brickwork and pot plants. Both are equipped with cutting-edge green technology, like electric vehicle charging points, and will act as test beds to build greener homes in the UK. In 2025, the Future Homes Standard(FHS)will require all new homes to be built without gas central heating and with other green measures. Homes built to the FHS must deliver a 75% to 80% reduction in carbon emissions compared with homes built today. That is why Bellway, partnering with the project, has built the rooms inside the Energy House 2.0. Yet clearly this is no ordinary new-build. For one thing, packed inside are three different heating systems: two air source heat pumps, plus panel heaters dotted around the walls and ceilings. There’s also a solar power input, a battery and a smart hot water tank that heats water using solar generation.Over the coming months, Bellway will test different combinations of these technologies to find the most cost-effective way of meeting the FHS regulations.Financially, things are promising. Based on energy-performance calculations, Bellway says its Future Home could have energy bills of just £11 a year.Energy House 2.0 will let researchers see how houses perform in the UK’s future climate. “We can cycle through the climate change predictions 50 years into the future and see if we have any problems.” says Fitton.8. What’s the aim of building the c limate-controlled room?A.To help homes resist climate change.B.To examine the quality of today’s homes.C.To explore the most suitable homes for humans.D.To find a way for homes to handle climate change.9. What might the new homes be like in 2025?A.There will be no heating system.B.They will be controlled by a button.C.They will be more environmentally-friendly.D.There will be green plants to absorb carbon.10. Where will Energy House 2.0 research go?A.It will be tested continuously. B.It will change the future climate.C.It will make future houses recycled. D.It will cause environmental problems. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text?A.Energy-Saving House Leads the FutureB.Climate Change Affects Home DesignsC.Research into Homes for Future ClimateD.The Leading Place of the UK in Home DesignsAs winter arrives, the problem of fogged-up car windscreens (挡风玻璃) becomes more pressing for drivers. Anti-misting sprays are one way to deal with such fogging. But they need frequent reapplication. Another approach is to fix a set of electrically powered heating wires. But because of the visual distraction (干扰) created, that doesn’t work for a car’s front windscreen.Iran Hachler and Dimos of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology have, however, come up with another way of warming something up to stop fog forming. Their new material is a coating ten nanometer (纳米) thick. It is flexible, easily made, and can be applied as a coating to glass or plastic, or inset inside such materials. Its demisting system is powered by sunlight. In effect, it is a gold sandwich. The “bread” of this sandwich is a pair of layers (层), top and bottom, of a chemical material. The filling is a four-nanometre deep golden material. The whole structure lets visible light pass unlimited, while absorbing invisible lights and transforming them into heat. It is the filling that warms the glass. Gold acts as a medium in the heating process. The network will now absorb heat if left in the sunshine.Glass coated wi th Mr Hachler’s and Dr Dimos’s invention is, they claim, four times more effective at preventing fog than an uncounted surface. It absorbs around 30% of solar radiation incident upon it, which, on a sunny day, increases the temperature of what it is applied to by around 8℃ On a cloudy day, that temperature rise is closer to 3-4℃. But in either case the enhancement is enough both to remove any fog that has formed and to prevent new fog forming. The next step, Mr Hachler says, is to find the product’s best m arket. Even though gold is used, the cost of adding this extra one is low. For the two inventors, though, the idea might prove a gold mine.12. What is the disadvantage of anti-misting sprays?A.They lack lasting effect. B.They damage the windscreens.C.They need constantly powering. D.They distract the drivers’ attention.13. What is the feature of the new material?A.It is easy to set. B.It looks like a coat.C.It is made of plastic. D.It is naturally powered.14. What can be inferred about the invention from paragraph 4?A.It is unable to work at nights. B.It can protect the cars’ surface.C.It is more effective on sunny days. D.It can lower the temperature to 3-4℃.15. What can we know about the new product?A.It has hit the market. B.It may be of high profit.C.It needs further improvement. D.It cost the inventors a gold mine. Everyone has got two personalities—the one that is shown to the world and the other that is secret and real. You don’t show your secret personality when you’re awake, because you can control yourself. 16 In a normal night, of course, you often change your position. The important position that best shows your secret personality is the one that you go to sleep in.If you go to sleep on your back, you’re a very open person and you are easily influenced by fashion or new ideas. You don’t like to upset people. 17 You’re quite shy and you aren’t confident. If you sleep on your stomach, you are a person who likes to keep secrets. You worry a lot and you’re always easily becoming sad. You’re very stubborn, but you aren’t very ambitious. You are satisfied with your life the way it is. You usually live for today not for tomorrow. 18If you sleep curled up(卷曲), you are probably a very nervous person. You have a low opinion of yourself and so you’re often defensive. You don’t usually like meeting people. 19 You are easily hurt.20 You know your strengths and weaknesses. You’re usually careful and confident. You sometimes feel anxious, but you don’t often get depressed. You always say what you think even if it annoys people. The hurricane made my father and me homeless. It was lunchtime. He was holding down two jobs at the time — one with the city’s public works department, the other as a barber. Saturday was his busiest hair-cutting day, but he chose to donate his time and give free haircuts to unfortunate kids so they’d look neat on that first day of classes. But then he had a light bulb moment: “The kids should earn their free haircut by having to read a book to me,” Holmes said. The idea was so popular that he continued it the first Tuesday of every month for the next two years. Boys from five to ten years old would grab a favorite book, settle into the barber chair, and read aloud while Holmes was doing their hair. If they were puzzled over a word, Holmes was there to help. After the haircut, they’d review he book, from the characters and vocabulary to the themes — just like in school, only more fun. Holmes, who is married and has two sons, ages three and four, recognizes that not every parent has the time to read with their kids.Holmes admits he, too, benefits from the process. “There was this seven-year-old who struggled through his book, stuttering over words even though he didn’t have a stutter (口吃),” said Holmes. He had the boy take the book home and practice. When the child came back a few days later, “He read it with no problems. That inspires me.”Holmes and his family have recently moved to a Chicago suburb. When they get settled, he plans to take up his role as the Story-book Barber. “The way the world is today with guns and violence,” he says, “it’s a safe heaven for the kids, to come to the barbershop and read books.”4.What do we know about Holmes two years ago?A.He had only one job.B.He earned a lot as a barber.C.He offered free haircuts to the poor kids.D.He was the organizer of Back to School Bash.5.The example in Paragrap3 mainly proves that _______.A.Holmes is very strict with the kidsB.Holmes also learns a lot from the kidsC.being a fluent reader needs plenty of practiceD.many kids have trouble in reading a storybook6.What can we learn from the last Paragraph?A.Holmes is dissatisfied with the world today.B.Holmes’ barbershop will have some changes.C.Holmes’ barbershop has won great popularity.D.Holmes will continue to be a storybook barber.7.What is the best title for the text?A.The Storybook BarberB.Back to School BashC.Reading Counts A LotD.Care About the KidsAny schoolchild knows that a whale breathes through its blowhole. Fewer know that a blowhole is a nostril (鼻孔) slightly changed by evolution into a form more useful for a mammal that spends its life at sea. And only a dedicated expert would know that while toothed whales, such as sperm whales, have one hole, baleen (鲸须) whales, such as humpback and Rice whales, have two.Even among the baleen whales, the placing of those nostrils differs. In some species they are close together. In others, they are much further apart. In a paper published in Biology Letters Conor Ryan, a marine biologist at the Scottish Association for Marine Science, suggests why that might be. Having two nostrils, he argues, helps whales smell in stereo (立体空间).Many types of baleen whales eat tiny animals known as zooplankton (浮游动物), whichthey catch by filtering (过滤) them from seawater using the sheets of fibrous baleen that have replaced teeth in their mouths. But to eat something you first have to find it. Toothed whales do not hunt by scent. In fact, the olfactory bulb—the part of the brain that processes smell—is absent in such creatures. But baleen whales still have olfactory bulbs, which suggests smell remains important. And scent can indeed give zooplankton away. Zooplankton like to eat other tiny creatures called phytoplankton (浮游植物). When these are under attack, they release a special gas called dimethyl sulphide, which in turn attracts baleen whales. Most animals have stereoscopic senses. Having two eyes, for instance, allows an animal to compare the images from each in order to perceive depth. Having two ears lets them locate the direction from which a sound is coming. Dr Ryan theorized that paired blowholes might bring baleen whales the same sorts of benefits. The farther apart the sensory organs are, the more information can be extracted by the animal that bears them. The researchers used drones to photograph the nostrils of 143 whales belonging to 14 different species. Sure enough, baleen whales that often eat zooplankton, such as the North Atlantic right whale, have nostrils that are farther apart than do those, such as humpback whales, that eat zooplankton occasionally. Besides allowing them to breathe, it seems that some whales use their blowholes to determine in which direction dinner lies.8.What do we know about whales’ nostrils according to the first two paragraphs?A.They are adapted ones.B.They are developed merely for smell.C.They are not easy to detect.D.They are fixed universally in numbers. 9.What plays a role when baleen whales hunt zooplankton?A.The teeth that baleen whales have.B.The smell that phytoplankton send.C.The sound waves that zooplankton create.D.The chemical signals that zooplankton give off.10.How is the concept of stereoscopic senses explained in paragraph 4?A.By quoting a theory.B.By using examples.C.By making contrast.D.By making inferences.11.What is the position of nostrils related to according to the last paragraph?A.The sense of smell.B.The possibility to attract food.C.The ability to locate food.D.The ability to communicate. In a world where everyone has their own opinions on just about everything, it’s common for people to be critical of each other’s mistakes and imperfections without noticing their own. Some individuals mistakenly think it’s their responsibility to make you into a better person. They do this by first pointing out your shortcomings directly and then providing advice on how you can improve. So what is the possible solution to criticism? If you are the one forcing others to feel ashamed of themselves, please stop. Make a conscious decision rather than highlight the negative aspect of a person’s performance or attitudes. You are more likely to offer helpful suggestions from the beginning. If you are on the receiving end of criticism, the “OK” response is a perfect solution. When someone comments negatively on a task you are doing or a personality issue of yours, a natural response is to defend and attack. However, this approach is rarely effective as it puts both parties on the defensive. Instead, simply reply with “OK”. This brief one-word response acknowledges the other person’s comment without agreeing with it or feeling necessary to engage in a debate about it.It’s crucial to stay connected to what the other person is talking about, and listen without getting upset, to be an objective observer. In fact, there is much that one can learn from a negative review. You can ask yourself: Did I make a mistake? Could I have done better? Did I give 100% of myself to the task at hand? If so, how can I improve myself? As for chronic criticizers: It is important to set strict boundary with them. Remove yourself from their presence when necessary. In any case, one can learn to be “OK” with criticism and not allow it to negatively impact your life or relationship with the other party.12.What might the author think of people who like to judge others?A.Self-centered.B.Responsible.C.Talkative.D.Warm-hearted. 13.What does a person mean by saying “OK” according to Paragraph 3?A.He thinks the advice is helpful.B.He completely agrees with the comments.C.He wants to avoid unnecessary arguments.D.He defends himself with the response. 14.What is the recommended action for dealing with chronic criticizers?A.Embrace their views.B.Criticize them in return.C.Avoid interaction if needed.D.Engage with them regularly.15.What is the most suitable title for the text?A.The Art of Giving Criticism B.Mastering Self-Defense against Criticism C.Dealing with Personal Relationships Flexibly D.The Path to Self-Improvement through CriticismLessons that are Learned from the OlympicsThe Olympic Games are enjoyed by everyone. He tilted (倾斜) his head toward the chair next to mine, then toward my suitcase blocking the chair. There were many open seats. Why this one? I thought. When he sat, I noticed the markings on his bag and his faded uniform. I asked. He nodded. I bowed my head slightly. Then he asked where I was headed.“Home.”Hands on his knees, he told me he was on vacation and was going home to surprise his mother. I asked how long it had been since he’d seen her (five years). I asked what he was looking forward to at home(a shower). He scanned the room cautiously as he talked. When he looked at me, his eyes kept no distance. He seemed to want something from me. I could not tell what it was.He said it was hard to stop scanning for danger. Yesterday, he’d been in the desert. Fellow soldiers had been blown into pieces around him. Today, he was in an airport trying to understand anger over flight delays and the rush for coffee. He didn’t know how to be, here in this place.I thought maybe I understood. One evening after spending hours with a friend who just lost her son, I went to my daughter’s performance. In the crowded lobby, mothers complained about their seats and bemoaned other small slights, but only compassion made sense to me. I felt disoriented, distant. I told the soldier about this. He breathed deeply and showed a small smile. He’d seen the raw and unbearable. But he did not know how to tell us. This was what he needed from me, I realized. He did not want the seat beside mine. He wanted to sit with me.I did not know his name, how his surprise would turn out, how long his tour of dutywould last. We sat together until our flights were called and then said goodbye, two strangers heading home.4.How did the author feel when the soldier approached him?A.Angry. They have greatly reduced the stress and physical demands normally placed on surgeons and have made certain procedures possible. One example is “keyhole surgery”, or minimally invasive (微创) surgery, which normally requires surgeons to stand at awkward angles and make difficult movements with their hands to make a cut inside the patient. But in June 2022, surgeon James Ansell used 3D glasses and two sticks to control four robotic arms to perform a procedure to remove a cancerous tumor. “My colleague said... that this feels like cheating,” Ansell said to The Guardian.Another area of surgery that has had major technological breakthroughs in recent years is telesurgery. Normally, telesurgery relies on a wired connection due to concerns of harming the patient should a wireless connection drop during surgery, but China made several advancements in wireless telesurgery based on 5G technology.China achieved the first 5G-based remote operation in March 2019 involving a brain surgery procedure between a surgeon in Sanya and a patient in Beijing, a distance totaling nearly 3,000 kilometers. More recently, a team of surgeons successfully completed remote micron-level eye surgery on rabbits located in a different city. The rabbits were at the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhbù, Guangdon g province, whereas the surgical team who operated on them via a 5G robot were at the Hainan Eye Hospital in Haikou, Hainan province.Looking to the future, people hope that remote surgery could become commonplace to help heal injured soldiers on the battlefield while keeping surgeons at a safe distance. Some even believe that robotic systems, combined with AI, could one day exceed human surgeons. But, given current technological limitations and the high costs of these robots which can cost millions of dollars, the complete robot takeover of surgery may still be a while off. 8.What does the “keyhole surgery” example intend to show?A.Great complexity of robotic surgery.B.Physical challenges surgeons face.C.Surgical progress enabled by robotic tools.D.Urgent need for advanced 3D technology.9.What significant achievement did China make in the field of telesurgery?A.Achieving remote surgery using a wired connection.B.Completing successfully remote eye surgery on humans.C.Conducting a 5G-based remote operation on rabbits overseas.D.Performing the first wireless brain surgery with 5G technology.10.What can be inferred from the text about robots in the medical field?A.They are quite affordable.B.They are currently in high demand.C.They have not been widely used.D.They have gone beyond human capabilities.11.What is a suitable title for the text?A.Robotic Surgery Uses 5G TechnologyB.Keyhole Surgery Benefits Human BeingsC.Autonomous Robot Achieves Great ProgressD.Medical Robotics Revolutionizes Surgery Method2500 years ago, Socrates (苏格拉底) complained that writing would harm students.Today a different heated debate is ongoing about the dangers of another technology —computers — and the typing people do on them. As primary-school pupils and PhD hopefuls return for a new school year in the northern hemisphere, many will do so with a greater-than-ever reliance on computers to take notes and write papers. Some parents of younger students are frustrated that their children are not just encouraged but required to carry laptops to class. Lot s of teachers complain of uncontrolled distraction in classrooms, with students reading and messaging instead of listening to lectures.A line of research shows the benefits of an “innovation” prior to computers: hand-writing. Studies have found that writing on paper can improve everything from recalling a random series of words to facilitating a better conceptual grasp of complicated ideas. For learning material by rote, from the shapes of letters to the quirks of English spelling, the benefits of using a pen or pencil lie in how the motor and sensory memory of putting words on paper reinforces that material. The arrangement of squiggles (不规则的曲线) on a page feeds into visual memory: people might remember a word they wrote down in French class as being at the bottom-left on a page, for example.Another one of the best-demonstrated advantages of writing by hand seems to be in superior note-taking. In a study from 2014 by Pam Mueller and Danny Oppenheimer, students typing wrote down almost twice as many words and more passages word for word from lectures, suggesting they were not understanding so much as rapidly copying the material. Hand-writing, which takes longer for nearly all university-level students, forces note-takers to synthesize ideas into their own words. This aids conceptual understanding at the moment of writing. Besides, those taking notes by hand also perform better on tests when students are later able to study from their notes.Socrates may or may not have had a point about the downsides of writing. But no one would remember, or much less care, if his student Plato had not noted his teachings down for the benefit of later generations.12.Why do teachers complain?A.Because students carry laptops to class.B.Because students cause distraction in class.C.Because students are not focused in class.D.Because students are suffering from sight loss.13.How does hand-writing benefit students?A.It makes students understand concepts better.B.It helps students develop better imagination.C.It improves students’ writing ability.D.It saves students’ note-taking time.14.What is the author’s attitude to hand-writing?A.Supportive.B.Disapproving.C.Neutral.D.Indifferent. 15.What is the main idea of the passage?A.In an age of typing handwriting still mattersB.Handwriting helps studentsC.Handwriting has big advantages over typingD.Making the handwriting二、七选五How to Remember the FutureOne of the trickiest recall tasks is called prospective memory: remembering what you want or need to do, in time to do it. 16 A thought occurs, we resolve to act on it “soon” and then, when the time comes, the idea’s gone.Diaries and alarms help, but your imagination plays a vital role in holding onto brief thoughts and keeping you in control of your future plans. For example, don’t just have an idea about going to the bank. 17 Perhaps you’re leaving the bank loaded with shiny gold bars. But that’s only the beginning. This process allows you to do much more than just reminding yourself to do things. 18 Then, create a vivid “memory” of how you’d like it to go, and crucially, how you’d like to feel. Creating “memories” like this gives you time to think about practical arrangements and spot any problems before they arise. A part of your brain will still be processing the details even when you’re thinking about other things. Here are some tips:●Experiment to see if you prefer viewing this “mental movie” through your own eyes, or by watching yourself from someone else’s point of view.● 19 Fast forward any parts you find easy, and go in slow motion for the bits that need extra work.●Use your full range of senses. 20A.Control the time frame.B.Minimize all the feelings.C.You can use it to do them better so try it now.D.Engaging them all will create a rich, multi-dimensional memory.E.Paint a mental picture of yourself there and actively make it memorable.F.Pick an important event around the corner: a driving test or a public speech.G.The reason it often fails is that we have an idea in mind but don’t make it into a memory.三、完形填空Scott Macaulay has been cooking Thanksgiving dinner in his hometown, Melrose, Massachusetts, for the past 33 years in a row.“One year, a man who’d just lost his wife put on her apron.” Macaulay said. “That’s what this is all about.
